I don't live anywhere NEAR Ferguson and I'm peeved at this. I'm a nonviolent person though, no worries! However, please explain why a police officer who shot an unarmed suspect to death should be commended and generously monetarily rewarded by the public? If the shooting is found justified, he should be able to live his life, but as of now, he has his job and his pay and the police force and union defending him - why does he need a windfall of cash too? Why should he be able to buy a freaking HOUSE because he took someone's life? If he was an ordinary citizen, people would find that outrageous!

Righttttt preach the word lol....not worth one cent imo.

No way of knowing that, but probably. Unless there was another black man shot to death by police on video in that area recently (let's hope not!). The man's name was Kajieme Powell.

I had not watched it till now....... The police were TOTALLY justified in the actions of eliminating the threat. jmo Apparently Kajieme Powell wanted to die that day.jmo

It is possible that false information was leaked in order to discredit OW at a later date. If the report of the orbital fracture is false it should have been quashed immediately by someone representing OW.

I don't know who has been advising OW but if this had been handled properly from a crisis management standpoint OW would have had from day one an attorney representing him in the court of public opinion. An attorney who would present OW's version of events to the media and who would quash any false information. OW should have had by now a top notch attorney representing him by making the daily rounds of media to challenge patently false witness testimonies that have been advanced in this case .

We know that OW sustained facial injuries serious enough to require a hospital visit. Why not release details of these injuries? If an orbital fracture occurred why not why not release CT Scan imagery? The fact that OW has not been defended in public by a lawyer representing him is the biggest mystery for me.

IMHO but we're not hearing about OW because there is an investigation going on . . . actually 2: one by StL County & one by FBI; I have no doubt he's represented by StLs finest attorneys

IMHO it's disgusting that the MB defense is on every single MSM broadcast "trying" the case in the media & not in a court of law -- what happened to innocent until proven guilty? Especially when it has to do with our LE

IMHO it's going to backfire once all the evidence is available to the masses

Autopsies showed Brown was shot six times.

The Ferguson police report about the incident says it began at 12:02 p.m. and that Wilson called it in at 12:43 p.m. The body remained in the street for four hours.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/natio...c796f0-2a45-11e4-8593-da634b334390_story.html

Experts on police shootings say the investigation, including the grand jury deliberations, will focus on whether Wilson had a reasonable perception of being threatened with bodily harm. The experts say it does not matter how many bullets Wilson fired. Police are trained to shoot at the center of mass and stop the threat.

“If it’s an imminent threat of serious bodily harm, yeah, you become the judge, jury and executioner,” said Alpert, the University of South Carolina criminologist.

so weird 'cause I remember this day . . . but DJ has stated it was close to 2p not Noon :)

http://www.ksdk.com/story/news/local/2014/08/13/dorian-johnson-michael-brown-eyewitness/13986845/

"It was around 1:40, two o'clock. We were walking down the street, empty street. We were just walking down, minding our business. We're both headed home, and the officer's approaching us, and as he pulled up on the side of us, he didn't say 'freeze,' 'halt,' or nothing like we were committing a crime. He said, 'Get the f*** on the sidewalk!' I told the officer we were not but a minute away from the destination."

It really is alarming especially since all the facts are not known and the police have not been real forthcoming with info. We don't even have a true statement from the officer or forensics on the car to prove or disprove his account.

I don't think anyone should be celebrated that takes a life even if it is in the line of duty.

So if a mentally ill man wants to commit "suicide by cop" should the police just comply, in your estimation? Even if the man is not threatening them/lunging at them etc.?

When he says "look at them, they're scared as sh**"

He's talking about LE :

Is that his mentality? Does he want LE to be scared of them?

IMHO it's the opinion shared in some communities, especially "up there". Pizza delivery places don't even venture into those apt complexes any longer after the drivers' getting shot/killed for pizza & $50 in cash -- please check out the stats of murders in/around StL & how many are unsolved (IMHO due to lack of community involvement - Snitches Get Stitches ya know)

IMHO it's all about RESPECT! Respect yourself & others, especially authority -- I can't imagine not being taught that basic understanding

Heck, I question authority but still respect it :)

I donated due to the enormous legal bills he's going to encounter

I support Officer Wilson & every LEO sacrificing their time & energy to serve & protect us

I asked some LEO that post on another forum about legal bills. Apparently the city/gov entity covers that when officers get sued or charged in the line of duty (unless the police department itself declares the action a "bad shoot" etc... which has NOT happened).

I am praying there will be no indictment so our donations can be spent as Officer Wilson likes.

He was threatening them. Maybe it looked like he was ok to you but to me he wanted to die. Once he come towards them in the manner he did it was done. jmo

Well, personally I don't think MB is "completely innocent." He made some bad choices. I just don't think he deserved to die from them. Police should only shoot a suspect as a last resort. Given this and the other recent incident nearby with the guy who stole the snacks and was also shot to death, I think police in that area are too quick to shoot suspects rather than using other methods to subdue/arrest them.

apparently, this was Officer Wilson's last resort

once someone attempts to disarm me, I feel threatened -- totally within the boundaries of MO law
if someone is coming after me with a knife, I feel threatened -- again, totally within the boundaries of MO law

LE are trained to do their job!

If he was mentally ill (as he was apparently known by the community to be) and not in his right mind, he was probably not thinking logically. I think mentally ill people should receive treatment, not gunfire and death at the hands of police!

Well first of all there has to actually be an injury to the face. This is sounding to me like the conclusion has already been made that OW is completely innocent, and are just hoping for evidence to back it up.

Secondly, even if there is an injury to his face, we have to know the context around it. What if he had been pointing his gun at MB first, and then the altercation occurred? That is different than the current storyline which is that MB suddenly and out of nowhere assaulted OW in order to shoot him, I guess because he had a grand master plan for that day to shoot a police officer.

Jmo.

No, there was no master plan to shoot an officer. But once he had robbed the liquor store, and was walking with the stolen merchandise, and got caught with it red-handed, what's he going to do? I think he makes an impulsive, stupid decision to blindside the cop, to try to get away. He shoves him, then punches him. Now the cop goes for his gun, so MB was forced to fight him over it and the rest is history.

If people in the united states don't know how to act or respond to LE they need to learn. This is nothing new. No rules have changed and the playing field is still the same. When you are doing something (like walking in the middle of the road) and the police ask/tell you to get on the sidewalk what is the problem with that. Why does the police asking/telling someone what to do have to be met with objection? I really don't understand why people have a problem with authority, especially when they are in the wrong. jmo

Well, there are (to me) many indications that this job should be approached differently in the Ferguson/St. Louis area and probably a number of other cities in the USA. For example, going back to community policing, where officers know and live amongst the residents they are supposed to serve and protect.

It's not a celebration by any means but in support of Officer Wilson & every single LEO who places his/her life on the line every single day in specific places in America

Every LEO could be a "Darren Wilson"

oh, BTW - there are 2 investigations going on; media is driving this frenzy of wanting MORE information
