Yeah, it's since been talked about a bit here. The shame of it is, it seems people are spending more time complaining about the lack of coverage compared to the case and that makes getting the facts difficult. The little I did read though, makes me wish there was more actual coverage of it. Glad to see there are people there, though, demanding answers. Hopefully they keep it up. Has anyone started a thread on that case here? I'd be interested in reading more about it and following it. Are you saying that the video from the cam had been on the internet at one time? I would have thought that articles about that would have popped up right away.

Oh yeah, there were videos. The victim had head phones on, his friends were on the ground ordered to do so by LE. Dillon just sat there with his head phones on. He is mixed white/Latino. There was no aggressive action by victim toward the police. Police (Black) shot him dead in the video. The video has been yanked.
I watched the whole sordid tale.

From what I am reading the FBI has the recording. I guess we will have to wait and see what they say, But I would not give something to the FBI I knew was fake..

I know, right????

In any case like this there will be a lot of speculation about what happened. We need to remember that when speculation is passed on by the rumor mill, "what if" tends to become "I heard".

In all honesty, that happens here. A poster will posit a scenario and before long, others are discussing it as though it actually happened. It is human nature.

Here here..... If it was pot I would think BM would be in a happier mode.

Apparently not. He looked pretty scary and menacing in the store video.

Considering how often people use video chat apps, it should be no surprise that one being used within earshot of the shooting when it happened. The sound of a gunshot carries a long way.

The way that the Glide app works and the fact that messages are stored on Glide's server makes it highly unlikely that this recording was faked.

Not if it was dipped in Nyquil and if it was stuffed into a cigarillo. Or not if it was mixed with "spice" or salvia.

Just sayin'

AP sucks too. Just look at the AP reporters comments on Black Canseco's video.

LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU because I'm trying to keep ONE source of news that doesn't make me want to smash my phone.

OK, I'll go look.

But like I said, I keep that mainly for the intl. news, which is skimpily covered here, because we all need to know who Jennifer Lopez is dating right now or whatever.

Damn. If it's already been out there, why in the heck would they pull it back and why won't they release it? It's now over 2 weeks later. I get an investigation and let it run it's course like here, but if it was in the public and pulled, it just makes it look even worse. Unbelievable. Gonna see if I can't find more articles about the video itself.

Some have commented that pot isn't a drug they'd expect to precipitate a violent episode. Generally, I would agree. Lots of people do probably smoke pot, get mellow, order a pizza delivery and binge watch House of Cards on Netflix or whatever. However, pot does lower inhibitions and impairs judgement. There are also unpredictable results from adding cough syrup or spice or a myriad of possible popular additions to the blunt. All MOO

Just had a thought this a.m., while reading through thread. There are many people who just do not have appropriate social skills and/or don't know what body language is acceptable and what might be dangerous. They use what they have learned from their environment and really don't know what is appropriate/safe.

In one of the posts I read that MB may have put one of his hands in his pocket when standing near or approaching OW. This body language would be very very wrong in this type of situation. Another individual might turn and start to walk away when called on by LE and this too would be inappropriate behavior. But, do these behaviors have a bad connotation in and of themselves? Do they occur and lead to bad results that could be prevented if those persons knew what was inappropriate/dangerous.

Maybe LE could offer insight to young people who are still in school so they could develop appropriate interpersonal skills to use when having to interact with LE.

My work in home health in urban, suburban and rural areas showed me some things I never would have imagined! I never faulted anyone as I believed anyone could be truly ignorant, and by this I mean they do not know any better and only use what they know and have learned. If I wanted to change this I have to do something to educate those persons, and I did. Most of the time results were great and change was made. Do we need something like this in society, in our educational system? Thanks for letting me ramble. Now off to send email to a friend who is a psychology professor in NYC.

WOW awesome post!! Great idea!

I've heard of the police officers who come to schools for the DARE programs, but your idea is so great, and I wish some police chief somewhere would read what you wrote. IDK if they do this in some schools or not, but I've never heard of it.

And especially in urban areas - why don't they develop programs for the schools exactly like you said - where the police officers come into the schools and talk with the kids. And this would help build rapport between the community and the officers.

The officers need some way to convey their perceptions and what their job is like daily, and what kind of behaviors they see on a day-to-day basis. At the same time, the community members need to convey their points of view.

There is the problem that they eachdon't understand what the other feels and thinks. If there could just be an open dialogue, it would help them understand each other.

GREAT IDEA!!!! And I LOVE this post!

Yes, reedus....do your research. I have no idea why the video has been pulled or why the situation is being downplayed except this: we get a lot of propaganda and not enough truth from the media.
Anywhoo, I feel the big takeaway from the Dillon and MB shootings is that this is more about the militarization of our police and "Big Brother" and a lot less about racial division then we'd like to believe.
Divide and conquer techniques (aka racial division and focus) keeps us looking the other way from our militarization programs they are instituting all over small town USA.

Oh I can just see it now - the defense will put on a "pot" expert during the trial, who will show the jury how to make the concoction you mentioned with the Nyquil, etc......

Maybe they'll get Justin Bieber as their expert witness.....

Results from the toxicology tests have not been released. Maybe there was something else in MB's system besides pot. JMO.

Autopsy Doctor: Marijuana May Have Made Michael Brown ‘Act in a Crazy Way’

by Fox News Insider // Aug 18 2014 // 7:30pm
As seen on On the Record with Greta Van Susteren

Dr. Michael Baden, who performed a private autopsy on Michael Brown, went “On The Record” to discuss the findings of both autopsies.

Baden found that Brown was shot at least six times. A toxicology report found marijuana in his system.

While Baden hasn’t seen the toxicology report yet, he weighed in on the presence of marijuana in Brown’s system. He explained that it’s important to look at the levels of drugs present in marijuana.

“Very important with marijuana is the levels of the different drugs that are present in marijuana to have an opinion as to whether or not he might have been affected by the marijuana, so that he may have been acting in a crazy way and may have done things to the police officer that normally he would not have done,” Baden said.

Guess the occupant could just as easily go for the non-passenger's neck? And do we know that MB was left handed? Was OW left or right handed?
Now, have the non-occupant go after driver's "weapon"............
Might as well re-enact what witnesses have said if you're going to re-enact what 3rd parties and "hearsay" talking heads are claiming? KWIM?

Please feel free to do another "re-enactment" with every version of what every "witness" has said and post. My kid's left handed, and I think most can grasp the scene with either hand or both, as the measurements line up of height/window/door. I didn't have the forethought nor time to go grab a down lineman from the football field to more accurately portray MB's stature.

As the measurements are accurate to the factors we do know, it gives everyone, regardless of opinion, a visual model of the scene/sizes.

eta: looking at OW's award pics, he is right handed, imo.

Crump has stated there was a "serious" altercation at the car, and Chief stated OW was transported to the hospital.
