Stealing a few dollars worth of cigars would hardly get anyone a slap on the wrist. The jails, are full,to the brim and criminals that have all kinds of terrible crimes are being let out early all over the country because there is no money or place to house them.

I seriously doubt that MB thought his stealing was going to get him into any trouble.

Aside from clairvoyance, what do you base your knowledge of Mike Brown's thought processes on? Kid was 18, how would he know about the incarceration habits throughout the U.S.? And what's with the stereotyping of teens in the black community as not knowing right from wrong or knowing the consequences of robbery and assault when it can be used to defend Mike Brown or paint Wilson in a guilty light. I find this insulting towards the parents frankly, as if they never bothered to teach their kids morals. Those same people then use further stereotyping of the white cop in the black community to accuse and sully Wilson while ignoring or dismissing the lack of complaints against Wilson.

This same phenomenon occurs on the patterns of speech by the witnesses. We are told to accept the slang, dialect and potential lack of education when we need it to dismiss illogical statements from witnesses, then we have to accept the incongruous terms like "our destination" and "compliance" out of the same people. It's looking more and more like people need Wilson to be guilty of using excessive force in their gut, using any means necessary to sell that narrative. When that requires using a rule one way and then using it in an opposite way elsewhere, it no longer appears to be a pursuit of the truth or facts, but of a particular outcome.

BBM: What LE criminal activity investigation is going on in this case? There is an investigation by LE and the prosecutor's office into the death of MB, which is SOP. The FBI is investigating a civil rights violation regarding MB's death. Have we heard there are charges of department criminal activity in Ferguson?

Maybe I missed a big point here, but isn't the GJ and that entire investigation being done to determine if criminal charges (an indictment) should be brought against DW? Regarding the portion you had bolded, I would agree that an investigation into possible criminal activity on the part of an LEO (DW in this case, but any officer in other cases) should be handled by an outside agency. In fairness, in this case, St. Louis County is, technically, an outside agency that is investigating an LEO of the FPD, but that is why earlier I had an issue with that same investigating body (St. Louis County PD) expressing public support for the potential defendant. I have no problem with them supporting DW and expressing that support, but wouldn't it be wiser, not just in this case, for an outside agency that isn't expressing support one way or the other.

(*Parody/ sarcasm alert*)

Wait-- Dorian Johnson is in protective custody?? Holy cow! Like, his freedom is restricted?? And this is not something that motivates the fine citizens of Ferguson to "express themselves" in riots and looting, AGAIN?? Don't the fine citizens of Ferguson realize the tremendous DANGER DJ is in, in protective custody??

FTLOG, the LEOs might KILL him, right? Shoot him dead like a dog, unarmed, in broad daylight? Exercise "police brutality" against him? Or "disappear him"? Flog him? Abuse him? Cut off his dread locks? Drug test him, make him eat a balanced diet, and pay his bills? The horror!! Why is Rev. Al Sharpton and his circle of "unrest instigators" perfectly okay with this? Where is the outrage? The demonstrations? The chants? The Molotov cocktails and pee bombs? "They" have TAKEN this man's FREEDOM, FGS! Just TAKEN it-- without charges, a trial, nothing! In broad daylight! Where is the outrage? The horror? Where are the calls to clog up highways on Dorian's behalf?? It's just so unfair!

Why, oh why, has his community forsaken poor, vulnerable, homeless (evicted) Dorian Johnson? Did they not read the WaPo article about what a saint DJ is? What a good friend he is to people who barely know him? How good he is at sharing....his playstation? How he values, and insists on the "buddy system" at all times, especially during robberies and assaults? Why no calls for "Justice for Dorian?" "Release him now!" "Our demands must be met!" "Jail the jailers of Dorian Johnson!" "Free Dorian!"

How do we, the public, even have any confidence he is eating well, being taken care of, and has a playstation? I mean, he might even have PTSD-- does he have medical care? Counseling? The secrecy means there is a conspiracy, I tell ya. They're trying to induce Stockholm Syndrome, the ba3#4ds! Protective custody, indeed. Cruel.

I'm just so confused. (Not really.)

I would marry your post if I could.

You have won the internet today, IMO

Also from the link:

"When asked for his views on the footage that shows the teenager and his friend Dorian Johnson (a key witness to the shooting, now revealed to have a history of making a false police report) robbing a nearby convenience store, Pastor Ewing denied that the grainy images show Michael at all."

If MB's Uncle doesn't believe it's MB in the convenience store after seeing the video, what are the chances he's going to believe anything negative about MB that the investigation uncovers or the GJ has to say.

I think, deep down they knew very well what went on. They are just in a stage of denial. JMO.

In a way, I feel sorry for MB how he grew up. His parents were very young, probably only 16 and 18 when he was born, they never married. His dad was really never in his life. There is a photo when MB is still a little boy and snuggling up to his dad. It's also mentioned that his dad got in trouble for possession of drugs in 2007 where he could have faced 5 years in jail (I don't know if he actually had to serve the entire time in jail). In many photos, MB looks kind of sad, IMO.

He likes to live dangerously doesn't he?

He's gonna get caught, I wouldn't be surprised if Baden didn't wanna espouse the "movable arms" theory.

:giggle:

It's like he has the same mindset of the protesters.

Bad attention is better than no attention. As long as people are talking about him.

My children went to the same high school as I did. Affluent and middle class attend the high school.

Drinking parties and sex were the norm for the "popular" kids. Nothing changed from when I went except drugs became part of the scene when my kids went to school.

My one daughter who was an honors student and went to college as a high school student shocked me one day when we were talking. She was an adult at the time.

I was talking about how horrible the drug situation is now in schools (thus was before heroin became an issue in high schools in the white world),

She told me, "Mother, don't be so naive. All kids experiment." Apparently even my perfect daughter did as well.

I heard of affluent kids who shoplifted from stores as a lark.

I heard of affluent kids who did all kinds of things that their parents bought them out of trouble with their fancy lawyers.

Affluent parents who were drunks, cheating on their spouses, and used drugs such as cocaine.

The white world is not any different.

To experiment and to make it a habit are two different things, IMO.

I think some kids start using and abusing alcohol and/or drugs to subdue a pain/trauma they are suffering from. JMO.

I must really be off my rocker, but I remember everyone yelling about how the riots and looting were NOT the fault of the PD and their response. That the rioters and looters were responsible for their own actions. Maybe you weren't one to say that but now some of the blame at least is being removed from the rioters and looters and is placed on a 22 year old because of telling what he saw? Really just don't know what to think.

That makes two of us. :waitasec:

My post said nothing about rioting and looting.

Here is what a nationally known expert on adolescent drug abuse once told me:

If your kid drinks or smokes marijuana at a weekend party, your kid is normal.

You should be really concerned if your kid uses injectable drugs or is a heavy user that is taking different types of drugs at the same time. A small percentage of kids in almost any high school fall into this category. Most of them will have showed signs of mental or emotional problems before they started taking drugs. The drugs are often an attempt to self medicate, but they will not improve the situation.

BBM. Completely agree with your entire post.

BBM

We certainly agree there! :happydance:
I'm glad that you finally agree that the protesters are not looking at all the facts of this case and will never change their minds even with the true facts.

It's sad really. They are using MB as an excuse to run wild in the community IMO

That's awfully kind of him to do

Here would be a better idea---cancel the whole thing instead of just postponing it. That highway seems to be heavily travelled. One rear end collision and someone could be seriously injured or killed. A chain reaction and several people could be injured or killed. Someone could get impatient and try to get around the bottle neck and run over a protester. People/families/truckers passing through may have no idea that they're going to have to come to a stop on a highway. They're creating an extremely dangerous situation----and for what? I have no problem with protests but surely they can come up with some idea better than this. Causing chaos on a highway makes no sense at all.

Too late

(KMOV.com) – Even though organizers said a protest to tie up traffic on local interstates had been put on hold at the request of Michael Brown Jr’s family, several protesters elected to block traffic Monday afternoon.

Yeah I guess he believes the REAL robber planted the cigars on MB's body???

Honestly, this is the mindset of many of the protestors. Facts simply DO NOT MATTER to them at all!

Many folks keep trying to understand their logic, or keep thinking "if they only knew all of the facts" etc...without understanding that it wouldn't change their mind at all!

I agree, I think it's more about MB being black and OW being a white police officer. It's a race issue and no amount of facts to these protesters is going to matter.

Catching up (still) - so maybe you've discussed this : Dorian Johnson Support Group - one of those online funding sites (link won't post)

A fund for DJ now has $130 after 10 days....They are seeking $100,000 in order to - and I quote - "help bring a little normalcy back into the life of this brave young man."

Wonder what the equivalent AA expression is to the redneck, "Hold my beer and watch me do this"?
