Ummm..someone posted upthread about "community cameras" being removed by LE. Canfield Green is part of the Crime Free Multi Housing Program:

( zoom in on signs)

The Crime Free Multi Housing Program utilizes security cameras, among other strategies.

Also, notice the nice ADT provided surveillance system put in Antonio French's ward ( i.e Ferguson) in 2011

Have a relaxing Labor Day :)

BBM- yes thank you that was me! Good eye! I zoomed around some more, but didn't see anything that looked like a camera, but wouldn't that be something if the entire event was filmed the entire time???

Dear Lord!!! I'm feeling stabby again!!! Honestly, if one of these terrorist gets run over by a car I would not be at all surprised...nor empathetic.

What exactly is the big deal about a peaceful protest that blocks traffic? Why does that make protesters "terrorists"? People can take alternate routes, and it's a holiday for goodness sakes!

I commend any student in an impoverished area that manages to stick it out and earns a diploma. The odds are certainly stacked against many.
I just wish he had taken more pride in his accomplishment. It sure meant a lot to his mom. He should have been proud and enthusiastically looking toward his future.

It seems without the structure of school or his parents breathing down his neck he derailed...

IMO

My kid has ADHD and the most freeing thing I ever read was in a book by Dr. Hallowell saying basically, that if you ever wonder when you will finally be able to step back and not have to constantly remind them of every little thing.........stop. Because as long as they live in your home....and after they leave...you will still have to help them with basic life skills and that is okay.

Rather than make me feel defeated, it gave me a sense of "well, okay, this is my child and this is OUR life".

Not to say MB had any LD like ADHD, but as parents, we are in it for the long haul, and we are in it together.

Bless MB's parents for riding him to finish school, especially in that crappy district and in an environment that does not especially value a HS education.

Where I live, you can't just willy nilly disrupt traffic, block up the front of a police station, protest in residential neighborhoods.

Ya get a designated area and set times.

None of this middle of the night nonsense either.

I don't think French's ward would include Ferguson. He's an alderman in St. Louis City and Ferguson is in St. Louis County. Having said that, it would truly be a blessing if there is a video from a security cam that caught everything on tape.

I don't think designated areas and set times have the same impact. Did MLK and his supporters only protest at designated areas and set times?

Re: "Johnson, who hid behind a nearby car during the Aug. 9 shooting, is in federal protective custody out of fear for his life, his attorneys said. "BBM Per linked WaPo article of 08/31/14

I didn't realize DJ is in federal protective custody

Consider the source. Was this from Freeman Bosley or from Williams?
Just wondering.

It wouldn't be the first time it's happened in St. Louis. On most occasions they won't allow it, but I can think of once where they did. Speaking of blocking a highway. Think it might have been Sharpton taking issue with lack of minority contracts in the City or County or State agencies. Can't remember which.

20+ years ago while working for a very well known company, I had a supervisor from Georgia. Couldn't stand him. Made racist comments often...one day I confronted him and asked him what the heck was his problem. Turns out he was a wizard ...A WIZARD ??? He actually BRAGGED. I never even heard of such a thing...I had to research it...

Talk about THUD!

I got him fired. :)

Heck, me too. I'd be thinking like Mr. Wizard from the old TV cartoon. I'm surprised he admitted that though. Can't take that back now:)

I noticed the complex was under extensive remodeling to comply with the CFMHP program when the images were taken.

And here is a direct link to Ferguson's CFMHP page that also includes many other community/police partner programs to reduce crime.

I don't know.

I do know MLK protests were supposed to be PEACEFUL.

I haven't seen much of that there. I so wish MLK were still here.

I totally agree on your take of the Duggars.

Well, I am not so naive as to think DJ's experience was the same as the Duggar kids, but thanks. I think that being raised with 19 other kids is not reason alone to turn to crime.

Although, if I had to live in a home with 19 kids, I might knock over a liquor store just to get locked up for the peace and quiet.

Kidding!

I do believe you're right. The key thing for me is that it remain peaceful and if blocking a highway can be done without risk of harm to others, so be it.

It truly blows my mind that some people, on both sides, have progressed one iota. Their views are as backwards, blind and BS as ever.

While I agree that some on either side have not progressed, people like the KKK don't get the kind of media support, they are not embraced by politicians, community leaders and MSM. They are across-the-board reviled.

I may have mentioned this before, buy my daughter is African American. We live in a VERY white neighborhood, but also with a heavy population of Hispanics, but only a very small population of AAs. She is one of the most popular girls in her school and is embraced with open arms by everyone we know. She is a competitive cheerleader and is one of the biggest stars at her gym - flyer, front point position and named MVP of her team last season. If racism existed in my community the way some would like to portray it as so rampant, I would highly doubt my DD would enjoy the kind of love and respect she gets from everyone who knows her.

FYI-when were making the plan to adopt her, I have to admit my initial apprehension...would our family and community accept her? Would they treat her differently? Would she be able to adapt? I am happy to say that she is an extremely happy and healthy young lady and one of the most resilient people I have ever met!

I feel bad for the people that have to work on Labor Day to make a living. Many do, my husband included.

I personally don't find people stopping for 4 1/2 minutes on a highway peaceful at all. As a matter of fact, I find it dangerously stupid. For the protesters that are going to do it and for the people who will be in the middle of it through no fault or choice of their own.

He honestly believed we were of the same mindset!

Another THUD!

Meh. The Duggars have that many on their own. It's gross, IMO, but it seems to be marketable. They got a tv show and magazine covers out of it.

That's what's great about the U.S.A. - to each its own.

On a major interstate highway? That seems pretty dangerous to me. Where would they all park at?

They did this once before, but I hope they decide not to do it again. We will probably have people out there with baby strollers.

A blessing for some, but a curse for others.
