Short video of purported landscape guys MB spoke to on his way to the store. They both seem to be white, and one seems to reenact MB putting his hands in the air. In his version MB's arms were raised and wide, away from his body, but MB was approaching DW as DW was backing away.

Oddly enough, they do not look white to me. Could be wrong. Not sure what difference that makes, but since the rioters, protestors, etc, have turned this into a somewhat (being PC here) thingee, I somewhat believe it could make a difference.

'Course this is only my opinion

I can't hear or begin to imply what the landscaper was saying on the cellphone. Maybe OW was the one showing MB how to surrender with the arms out----we don't know?

But even if MB did attempt to surrender AFTER allegedly punching an officer in the face & attempting to gain control of an officer's (loaded) gun-----it's way too late per that state's law.
An officer can not assume the "surrender" is real (hands up or not) especially if the suspect is still moving towards the officer and has just assaulted him.
That's how officers end up dead.

This and the whole truth needs to be explained to the citizens of that community by the AG as soon as possible. Otherwise things take on a life of their own.

So please AG......yeah, it's a tough job you have but you need to address it & without reference to race at all. And then you better tell the crowd what expectations you have regarding the anticipated reactions. You better be clear about what is & what is not allowed following the results of the investigation.

That would be the right thing to do. That would be the honorable thing to do.

Let's hope our AG does that.

Nobody seems to even be mentioning Josie to support a justified shooting so I am confused by your posts.

I guess they are embarrasssed at using her as a source, which is understandable? But I see her "story" taken as fact by quite a few here.

Mod note:

Stop the political references now. Yes, even the thinly veiled ones.

It's been said enough times. Final warning. Any more will result in time outs.

Truthy----you bring up a good point....and I wish we knew how many or what percentage of the protestors were non-violent vs. violent.
It is an important & valid question.

We know that the media/tv coverage wants to sell a story & the more harrowing the better. So we can't take their coverage as the entire perspective of what's going on there.

Are there links or stats showing the non-violent protestors vs the violent ones?

I missed those posts. I believe the police chief's story and I think many who support ODW do as well.

[h=1]Former Ram Aeneas Williams now tending a flock in Ferguson[/h]
Williams, who describes what happened to Brown as horrific, says he sees himself as a minister of reconciliation in Ferguson.

“The purpose of the church is to reconcile people to Christ, reconcile people who have different disagreements,” Williams said, referring to the recent havoc in Ferguson. “There were conditions that fostered the environment for something tragic to happen.

“We don’t take sides. We come down the middle and bring sides together.”

Williams believes what’s key for the community in Ferguson is a dialogue that is inclusive of all sides, where the public is given the continued opportunity to listen to answers to questions such as, “What is it like to be a police officer in Ferguson?”

That is true because most of the media was saying the protesters were peaceful and the police fired on them for no reason. Thankfully we had the live stream and a couple independent and middle of road journalists. jmo

You just had to watch the news to see that most protesters were doing nothing but walking and chanting. And there were quite a few stories of the protesters helping the police keep the peace, cleaning up, etc. Not sure why anyone would lump them in with a few bad apples.

Hmm like lumping all police officers in with a few bad ones... imagine that.

not sure this is a good link under TOS, will alert to check with a mod. This is Iyanla Vanzant, life coach and television personality who spent a week or so in Ferguson, including appearance on several nights of CNN's coverage. In the video above she talks with protesters about how to effectively protest. About the need to pause and reflect on what they are actually asking for. She states that those who feel Justice for Mike is an arrest and conviction of OW is not a reasonable demand and they will not get it. She counsels they figure out how to improve their community and their lives and let that be what justice looks like for Mike.

JMO I feel like she had a very positive, calming effect on Ferguson.

can this be stretched to a boring sunday morning? i had the same reaction - a senseless shooting. i still have a string of hope that dj will tell the truth and speak to the protestors, clergy & family = he could be a real leader in this if he'd step up. imo it's all on his shoulders/conscience.

also, iirc, that friday was the last day the ferguson police chief had control of the information/case and that on saturday it was handed over to the st. louis county. he knew he had to get the video out there - even with the objections of holder/doj.

what i don't understand is why they would object - from news reports they said it would be inciteful & damaging. to me, it put things into perspective. doj knew he committed a felony.

imo

Good catch, I believe you are on to something. MB acts all casual then advance/lunge forward towards OW.

We don't even know if said landscaper was complaining to his boss on the cellphone something like "why'd you assign me to this spot---it's my day off--this isn't my normal route, etc, etc".

Without clear audio & confirmation of the cellphone convo, we just don't know & I'd hate to assume much from that short clip.

Moo

You mean like 'how dare you shoot at me' or 'I can't believe you just shot at me'? ITA
