Protests over Mr. Brown’s death have been largely centered in Ferguson, and the traffic shutdown was one of the first demonstrations that tried to disrupt the larger St. Louis region. Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the St. Louis County Police and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police, as well as those with emergency-services agencies, said the protesters were creating a hazard for themselves and others, and were threatening to delay the response times of ambulances and fire trucks.

Some black leaders were skeptical that interrupting the commute for thousands of motorists who have no say in the case would help their cause and declined to participate, including representatives of the N.A.A.C.P. and the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network. But organizers of the blockade said disrupting people’s day was a “small sacrifice” for seeking justice for Mr. Brown.

Looks like the workers first surfaced 5 days ago per SM.

That was part of the initial construct.

Benjamin Crump often meets his clients for the first time when they’re mourning the death of their young black son. And among the first things he tells them is what they should keep in mind at press conferences and in interviews with the media:
“All I want you to do is talk about your baby. Talk about how good he was and what your baby meant to you. I’ll handle the rest.”

The thing is, Michael Brown was his parents' baby, but he wasn't *a* baby. And when Crump gets all worked up and says, "They EXECUTED that baby.." I can't help thinking about an actual baby who was actually executed by being shot in the face in broad daylight while he sat in his stroller because his mother wouldn't give up her purse. So the 'baby' rhetoric doesn't really work with me. RIP, Antonio Santiago, too bad no one got outraged on your behalf.

Although the demonstration, which formed shortly after 3 p.m., was generally peaceful, a handful of protesters hurled objects at officers, including, the authorities said, bricks, stones, glass bottles and water bottles. But protesters said the presence of riot-ready police officers was unnecessary and agitated many in the crowd.

“They’re absolutely too aggressive,” said Curtis Sadler, 65, a Ferguson, Mo., resident and bus driver who was at the protest.

OK, so some of the peaceful protestors are throwing bricks and bottles at the cops, but the cops are WRONG for wanting to wear protective gear?

This CNN video is pretty damning the way they have done it. Do you guys hear the contractor saying, "Man, he was going like this" at about 1:00 in?

http://www.cnn.com/2014/09/10/us/ferguson-michael-brown-shooting-witnesses/index.html

I just saw CNN's hatched reporting of this, and had to come check in here about it.

:Gaah: I don't believe for a moment that they "accidentally" left out this part of the construction workers' versions.

From http://m.stltoday.com/news/local/cr...5deb-92fe-87fcee622c29.html?mobile_touch=true

Wilson, gun drawn, also stopped about 10 feet in front of Brown, the worker said.

Then Brown moved, the worker said. “He’s kind of walking back toward the cop.” He said Brown’s hands were still up.

Wilson began backing up as he fired, the worker said.

After the third shot, Brown’s hands started going down, and he moved about 25 feet toward Wilson, who kept backing away and firing. The worker said he could not tell from where he watched — about 50 feet away — if Brown’s motion toward Wilson after the shots was “a stumble to the ground” or “OK, I’m going to get you, you’re already shooting me.”

Either the witness was spinning to CNN*, or the reporter at CNN intentionally left out nearly all of the above.

Neither would surprise me. CNN has been spinning from day 1, and the witness account sounds very honky to me, considering some of the things he said. Seriously, who "stumbles 25 feet?"
Add his OMG his arms were up! And the fact that it doesn't even mesh with the audiotape CNN put out.

This case and all the people enabling if not intentionally encouraging victim cards are putting me in a mood. Their nonsense has bad consequences for every American. SMH

Oh trust me. I know the difference between a good law abiding citizen and an ignorant belligerent and violent one...and it has nothing to do with the shade of skin. Nothing!
The shooting of Brown had absolutely nothing to do with race.

I so agree!

it makes me agitated when I hear things like " ...protesters said the presence of riot-ready police officers ... agitated many in the crowd."

Seriously? THAT was what agitated them? Because I watched them speaking last night and plenty of them were already fully agitated. They cannot blame protective riot gear for their agitation.

I understand their complaints about the cops pointing rifles at them. But protective shields? Why shouldnt the officers get to protect themselves from incoming bricks and glass bottles?

IMO, the contractor's arms were more to the side. Which could go with the gesture "What? Are you going to shoot me?" as Josie described.

It seems there are some videos which support Josie's version, which have not been made public but are known to FBI.

I agree with the last portion of the article from the CNN link:

Neil Bruntrager, general counsel for the St. Louis Police Officers Association, cautioned against rushing to judgment. Witness accounts are important, he said, but need to be evaluated with all the evidence.

"I'm not saying disregard them. I'm saying that we will judge their credibility by all of the evidence, not by one statement, and certainly not by a 15-second video clip," he said.

It matters when they surfaced because CNN was referring to it as "new" and some here wondered what new videos.

Oh, and does anyone honestly and truly believe that having one's hands up means they are not a threat?

Especially if they are humongous and the situation isn't congenial?

Because if they do, and aren't just blowing hot air for an agenda, I hope they hot-foot themselves to a self-defense class website.

(I'm not even going to point out all the reasons to doubt that his hands were really up.)

Oh, and one of them was interviewed by Fox on Aug 12.

Good point. So why'd the video take awhile to surface and why is CNN now jumping on it?

I did think the family's press conference yesterday was to deflect from the damage the livery driver info could do. And no one in MSM seems to realize why it's important, especially in relation to the road closures.

The way they showed' his hands it looked more like the position a football player might use when he goes towards a tackle.

Are there any 9/11 memorial events planned in the area tomorrow.... anyone local know?
