Found this vid posted on another site. It's the first few seconds that are interesting...

The vid starts with Brady being interviewed and holding his cell phone up toward the cameras showing what he saw. It's interesting b/c the MSNBC tv interview states there is no audio of the recording, and in this bit, there is clearly audio as the camera is picking it up. 2nd what you hear is Brady say twice, "he ran back to the car, he ran back to the car."

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/27/us/recording-may-capture-shots-fired-at-michael-brown.html

Eta: not sure if had already been posted. Remainder of vid very sad, comments from MBs friends and family.
I think Brady made at least two videos. So, its possible one has sound and one doesn't.

This is what I hear him saying in the beginning of the NYTimes video.

Brady (describing what is playing on the video): "In the video you see just one cop but that's another police cruiser that just pulled up."

"But, that one cop that's walking away? That's the actual cop that shot Mike. He comes back over there in a minute."

"I started recording on my balcony. That's the first video I have before the yellow tape was put up."

I'm glad you mentioned "running a tab."

I have been waiting for the MB store robbery to morph into the virtuous story of "Mr. Peabody's Apples"-- that MB was just a "good person" who was "running a tab", and fully planned to pay for the merchandise "later."

http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Peabodys-Apples-Madonna/dp/0670058831

The video is still there and I'm not sure you can run a tab on cigars or liquor because they are taxed (and aggressively watched) on the Federal level. Anyone know what the rules are?

No, you can't run a tab on liquor unless you are sitting in a service bar, AFAIK, and they approve it. Not a bottle store, or with tobacco. I guess I didn't explain myself well! What I meant was that I fully expect/ ed the "running a tab" to be used as an explanation or excuse for the behavior by Parks, Crump, and the "pro MB" voices. Not that I thought that it was even possible to run a tab.

The story of Mr Peabody's Apples is about a virtuous and honest man who runs a tab with a shopkeeper for apples. He helps himself to an apple each day, and pays on Friday. People observe him taking the apples and assume he is stealing, and smear his reputation in the community, until it is shown how honest is actually is by setting up a deal with the shopkeeper ahead of time. It's a story about misperceptions, and the power of words to ruin a man's reputation. It's a wonderful story-- weaves a lot of morals and values into the story, and good for discussion with kids. It's the kind of mangled backward spin I'd expect from the MB supporters in a case like this, to try and present a strong armed robbery and assault as an honest and virtuous encounter. That's what I was trying to communicate (poorly!).

ETA: But I do think in those gang and crime infested areas that certain customers are allowed to take what they want, and in exchange for allowing certain customers to "run a tab" (steal without any consequences or police reports), the shopkeeper is "allowed" to stay alive and in business.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we see the police report for the store incident with a big "Willing to prosecute" on it or something to that effect?

No, we are talking about what he says on the actual video, not what he says to the interviewer.

Question -- if the GJ does NOT indict can the prosecutor still press charges? Or is it completely dependent on the GJ decision? I thought I read somewhere that it wasn't.

the prosecutor can still press charges using other methods. He can bring it to a GJ as often as he likes, or he can have a probable cause hearing or just arrest and bring charges on his own.

I think case can stand on it's own merit w/o juvie records, but if MB had confronted LE in past it could be his MO of dealing with them. That could be relevant. past practice.

IMO it's irrelevant.
Unless Officer Wilson was aware of Browns history of aggression toward a law enforcement officer on August 9th. IMO

Let me clarify. This case is different regarding Websleuths in that it has not be delegated to the "basement", or just limited to media only - no discussion thread. This is why I am asking you all to post responsibly and not get into a heated conversation about personal opinions from cases in the past.

We should all be able to put aside our attitudes and contribute posts that help us understand what happened. It is truly tragic for both the Brown family and for Officer Wilson. This is the truth that no one can deny if they are honest with themselves. It is way too late to change what has happened but it isn't too late to keep it from happening again. jmo

What's so incredibly frustrating is the lengths MSM is willing to go to in their effort to help push a particular narrative. IIRC Brady never uses the word "run" in his other interviews.

Reminds me of the NBC debacle in the Zimmerman case when they "edited" the 911 tape.

OT because I know some of you are following this other case: Christina Regusters was just found GUILTY on all counts! :happydance:

You know how Linda keeps saying she doesn't care if his hands were up or not? Well, I just saw this on another site--we've seen it, but I hadn't read it closely enough. It looks like OW's own story includes MBs hands being up:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/20/u...er-as-holder-schedules-visit.html?ref=us&_r=3

According to his account to the Ferguson police, Officer Wilson said that Mr. Brown had lowered his arms and moved toward him, law enforcement officials said. Fearing that the teenager was going to attack him, the officer decided to use deadly force. Some witnesses have backed up that account. Others, however — including Mr. Johnson — have said that Mr. Brown did not move toward the officer before the final shots were fired.

What do you think?

I've been doing some contemplating over the race issue in this case. While there may be racism in this world, I truly believe the biggest problem isn't race, but rather presentation. I look back at the people who spoke at the Ferguson City Council meeting and how they presented themselves and which ones I actually "listened" to what they had to say. There is only one of these people that I actually specifically remember what they said. I bet you can all guess which one.

To me, first appearances DO matter and to say they don't is wrong. Do I notice the color of someone's skin or ethnicity when I first meet them? Of course I do. It would be one of the things I would mention in a physical description of the person, if asked. But what would my impression of them be? Would it be based on the color of their skin, or on the way they present themselves? To me, what they are wearing, how are they dressed, do they take pride in their appearance or are they unkempt, are they dressed appropriately for the setting they are in? To me, there is only one person from those 4 photos that I would listen to and actually want to hear what they are saying. To express my thoughts further, here is one more set of photos. Which of these men would YOU want to follow, listen to, trust in and believe?

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Exactly!

If you walk around looking like a 🤬🤬🤬🤬, you're going to be treated like one. White, black, purple or green, if you look as if you might hurt me, I'm going to cross to the other side of the street!

Sstarr33, yep, it's been in the snippets posted:

Brown started to walk away according to the account, prompting Wilson to draw his gun and order him to freeze. Brown, the source said, raised his hands in the air, and turned around saying, "What, you're going to shoot me?"...Brown charged Wilson, prompting the officer to fire at least six shots at him

Reading about MB in mostly sympathetic articles, I think MB may have been more passive-aggressive with authority figures than confrontational, i.e. he ignored them. That's what he appeared to do in the store video until the little guy tried to prevent his leaving, and that seems to be what he did initially when OW told him to leave the middle of the street. Can't imagine him meekly turning to p. 132 in his math textbook at school, but can fully imagine him ignoring the teacher and laying his head down on his desk or "playing"/texting with a device during class, both of which would get him into trouble at most schools. I think by the time MB arrived at Normandy HS sometime in his junior year, having previously attended 3 other area high schools, his disciplinary record followed him and he was put on the "special diploma" track that DJ used, and was no longer in regular classes, but in a tightly controlled "independent study" situation with minimal contact with students or teachers.

LOL...I hope I won't get in trouble for this but I think we could use a little levity. Dave Chapelle regarding attire....

Those arms..... they're such mobile parts of the body. Even Shawn Parcells acknowledges it.

Well.... passive-aggressive right up until the moment that he turns outright aggressive.

WHOA! I totally missed that

Wow, yep he sure did.

As Lamchop mentioned, MSM is off the charts dropping the ball on this. Political blogs have some amazing info, as well as dedicated sluethers. I was just glad the the link for the vid was MSM!

At what point to you hear it? I've tried and I'm not hearing it.

Within the 1st few seconds. In the 1st instance Brady is nearly talking over it. But when he finishes making that point, you can clearly hear the 2nd utterance. And remember it's Brady's voice on the vid he's showing the reporter, not what he's actually saying to the reporter. (Kinda like the black canseco video)

Hope that helps.

How about a YouTube video link?

I found the ex marine gunners video (finally able to get it to work) extremely helpful in understand why Wilson's shots were to his left and their locations on Browns body.
