The marine was interesting, but the whole time he was speaking, I was distracted by thoughts of why he choose the stained glass windows backdrop.

I know ....I know!!!

Shiver.

But the actual content made lots of sense to me ...well because...that's the way I imaged it anyway ...

I'm always looking for some good confirmation bias:)

[h=1]Brown family attorney blasts St. Louis paper for ‘gossip and racist speculation’[/h]
Attorney Benjamin Crump is upset about the newspaper’s pursuit of juvenile records on Brown, accusing its reporters of failing to apply the same zeal to obtaining background information on the police officer who killed Brown, Darren Wilson.

Does Officer Wilson even have a juvenile record?

An instance where a CRB might be handy. I have no idea the merits of her underlying claims, nor the merits of her claims that LE hasn't interviewed her with regard to her complaint or if they've even been asked or if asked if they have opened an investigation. But, seems like an example of where and why a CRB might be useful.

My son is here picking up mail. I read her interview to him and he said something interesting about the way the cops responded to the shooting call. [with guns drawn, asking questions....] He said that LE is always worried during times of unrest, that someone is going to call in an 'urgent call' and then attack the first responders when they arrive. It happens too often.

It sounds to me like the FPD is highly stressed out, overwhelmed and this is getting to be too much for them.

I remember what happened after the most recent LA riots. It ended up that LAPD just 'ignored' certain areas. There became pockets of no-mans land where cops did not patrol and people did get a police response, but nothing was usually done about any of the calls or complaints. It was just too dangerous for the cops after the restraints that were put after the backlash happened. They felt they could not do their jobs anymore so they just handed certain neighborhoods over to the gangs. Sad but true.

If the NYT with 16 reporters credited on their definitive DW piece and the WaPo with 9 credited reporters on theirs couldn't find anything at all negative about OW himself, what does Crump think the SL P-D can do?

The video is still there and I'm not sure you can run a tab on cigars or liquor because they are taxed (and aggressively watched) on the Federal level. Anyone know what the rules are?

A shop owner would be foolish to allow anyone in an area of high unemployment to run a tab on anything. It would be impossible to turn a profit.

That said, the sales of tobacco and alcohol are tightly regulated on the state and federal level. Identification must be produced and verified by the shop keeper. If the clerk fails to verify, the state will shut them down or pull their license and there will be no more sales.

Around 1.25 states "Chris" ran inside and grabbed his IPad.... Wish I could afford an IPad. Not being snarky, just pointing out I'd rather live where I live than have fancy gadgets. Personal choice.

I know the video has been posted, but I think this has audio too. I can't listen so maybe others can confirm that the worker says "He had his f****** hands in the air." while at the scene.

Exactly. Now we know why the shop owner refused to report it. IMO

Let's face it if you have to have officers in your establishment to protect you from your customers in this case you may as well stay home. I doubt if this man's regular customers were a threat to him. jmo

I think this is a somewhat "new" development in Ferguson. They have a Target, a McDonald's, they had a QT, the store that was robbed did not have bullet proof glass in front of the register.

Ferguson saw a rather rapid change and the businesses will catch up quickly. That means most will leave.

This is such a joke. We already know OWs background. He had a rough upbringing, joined the police force and has a perfectly clean record. He is recently divorced and has a young child. Nothing else to tell!

Yet these are the very ones angling for a paid gig with subpoena powers. jmo

I don't know where the $$$ comes from a paid gig, but in theory I have no problems with a paid gig. I would have a problem if that paid gig was given to Shahid and the like. Haven't thought it through enough about subpoena powers to say one way or the other. At a minimum, whatever powers an internal affairs investigation seems to be reasonable. But again, haven't thought that particular issue all the way through.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we see the police report for the store incident with a big "Willing to prosecute" on it or something to that effect?

Yes we did, After the police were called by someone else. Shop owners hands were pretty tied up at that point.

I suppose seek his personnel file? Ask for any juvenile records, if any? All might have been done but I haven't seen it reported. Oh, and purportedly, ESPN of all places found something that may or may not be negative. Won't believe it's negative until I watch it though and even then with a grain of salt.

Isn't that where the gj meets? There's no doubt imo that the gjs have been followed home and Team Crump and Team Shahid know their names and salient info. The gjs have probably seen people positioned outside as they arrive with phone cams pointed their way.

I live in New Jersey ...but I'm fairly certain what's done here is replicated all over. the grand jury can meet in secret locations....it was often the case during high profile and organized crime investigations. I'm not talking about the next town or two over...I'm talking like 50-60-70 miles away.

Well, he may have once pulled a little girl's hair in third grade, or something. You never know.

Please fast forward to the 24 second mark. And completely ignore the lead in...I did;)

I couldn't imagine what that lead in could have been to make you say that  and then the stained glass!!

Anyway, great find. I did pick up one additional tidbit that I had previously missed.

When he replays Josie's call in to the talk show, she mentions that before he got out of the car in pursuit, she thinks he said "that's when he called it in." (Paraphrasing) that would explain how that first officer arrived on the scene so quickly.

Third grad may be a stretch, but if we want to look into any discipline MB might have received in high school, I think it would only be fair to do the same with DW. Same with juvenile records, etc... After all, DW is the suspect in this case.

Reading about MB in mostly sympathetic articles, I think MB may have been more passive-aggressive with authority figures than confrontational, i.e. he ignored them. That's what he appeared to do in the store video until the little guy tried to prevent his leaving, and that seems to be what he did initially when OW told him to leave the middle of the street. Can't imagine him meekly turning to p. 132 in his math textbook at school, but can fully imagine him ignoring the teacher and laying his head down on his desk or "playing"/texting with a device during class, both of which would get him into trouble at most schools. I think by the time MB arrived at Normandy HS sometime in his junior year, having previously attended 3 other area high schools, his disciplinary record followed him and he was put on the "special diploma" track that DJ used, and was no longer in regular classes, but in a tightly controlled "independent study" situation with minimal contact with students or teachers.

And therein lies the problem: no kid will be able to achieve educational success without help from teachers and educational programs designed for them.

There is no excuse for providing children sub-standard schools. Doing so IS an act of racism. That totally is the fault of the State of Missouri and its legislature. A superior educational system and special education programs require money, plenty of money. iow, the State of Missouri needs to raise taxes and give every child a quality education which is their right. Since they can't seem to do their job, I hope the DoJ asks a Court to order it.

At what point to you hear it? I've tried and I'm not hearing it.

:13-" he just ran up to the car"
:16 "he just ran up to the car and start punchin' on him"
