And just maybe .... by not having a date certain that everyone knows the GJ will be done... the GJ can finish its job and get out of Dodge before their decision is announced.

Are the names of the grand jury members even made public? I thought it was different than a regular jury in that regard... At any rate, to say/imply that they should be afraid for their lives is a bit of an exaggeration, IMO.

How dare a cop request a citizen move off the busy road for the safety of the citizen and for the cars having to drive around them...?

If I say someone is alive, then you can infer that they are not dead.
If I say the traffic light is red, you can infer that it is not green.
If I say the airplane is in the sky, you can infer that it is not on the ground.
If I say it is broad daylight, you can infer that it is not dark.

The only way the message from the court could be clearer, is if the judge plainly came out and said there are no records in existence to release. And the judge didn't do that, for a specific reason, IMO. You're free to conclude that the denial to release juvenile records means that there are no records, but that would be a logical fallacy. The denial to release the records in no way means that the records do not exist. It's an acknowledgment that the records do exist.

wow !!!

#1 have you ever lived in StL County? I have! Absolutely if a County officer saw you walking in the middle of the street (or biking/rollerblading/skate boarding), he/she would ask why & please use the sidewalk, if available or move it to the side of the road; especially if there was an ambulance on its way. Many bikers have been getting hit/killed this summer

#2 LE looking like they're equipped for WW3 - I believe the Fed Gov't is re-thinking giving communities surplus military support/vehicles; however, I believe LE should be able to protect themselves & sometimes an armored vehicle is essential (see University City MO)

#3 I don't think there's much "blind support" for either ODW or MB; it's well thought out & influenced by one's own values & beliefs

#4 One thing I can say about Rev Al is he's been calling for peaceful protesting & has not promoted looting/rioting

#5 Social media is here to stay & drives much of the "racism" poisoning this World; I agree & question if we're advancing as a society or realize we're the most endangered species on this Planet

I would have to add to "The racism, some overt and some subtle, expressed by supporters of OW." to extend to MB supporters & some witnesses, too; unless racism only goes one way which I do not subscribe

My father is fond of saying, "some people are determined never to allow logic and reason to prevent a good argument." My sister heard that so often growing up that it motivated her to became an attorney. (She's a really good one!)

My older sister is exactly like that. She'll tell you straight up, that she ALWAYS takes the side that has the least amount of support.

very necessary though unlike a new stadium for the Lambs, I mean Rams . . . or public transportation out in the County :)

Amen to that. So many more things our tax money can be spent on besides a new stadium for the football team. Hopefully that's not even a consideration anymore after the first fiasco.

I couldn't read past the "toys" comment ....feared my head exploding. I'll try later.....

If my friends that are cops can call them toys, why can't I? I think both I and them understand they are not literally toys to give a 5 year old for Christmas.

Thanks for your response! So good to see another local

Lived in Chesterfield/Wildwood for 6 years but in the City for >5 yrs total & I agree that in some residential areas' main streets are used for recreational purposes but Manchester? I can only imagine where you live since it goes on for miles & miles

Um, Dorian said it was MB (and himself) robbing Ferguson Mkt & that's enough for me . . . and the "N" word, really? It's another word that has lost it's meaning IMHO

I cannot account for someone's racist thinking/comments -- just am thankful my parents, grandparents & Village taught me otherwise

Praying for peace in StL metro

Just to be clear. I don't see people walking down the middle of Manchester. What I saw was a car carrier stopped in the middle of Manchester Road and 3 cops did nothing to rectify that despite the fact that it is against the law. I think it's just a different mindset where I've grown up as compared to other areas. Dunno.

Regarding #1....you moved, so why would he have to ask you to? In the other situations, were any of the officers clearing for an ambulance? I'm not sure why it is difficult to understand that OW knew an ambulance was going to be moving through there shortly. I have seen LEOs clear roadways for emergency vehicles hundreds of times. It's not unusual.

JMO how is it that you KNOW that OW KNEW that an ambulance would be taking Canfield en route to the hospital? And if he did KNOW that, why would he return to the street blockers and angle his SUV thus blocking them, but also blocking the ambulance route that he was so concerned about? Do you not see even a smidgeon of aggression in that move? There were several driveways and parking lots right there, where he could have parked the SUV and exited to ticket, arrest, question the miscreants, whatever he planned to do. The SUV maneuver looks angry and aggressive, to me. JUST MY OPINION

Why? The council isn't investigating it; the grand jury & StL County police are. There really is a fundamental lack of information regarding facts and how things work there, IMO.

But, but, but Rev Lee says this
,“We have a lot of questions, and we’re not illiterate, but we know how to ask the questions appropriately,”

And he is so informed on how things work, this is what he's asking the council members :giggle:

“We want to know why the investigation has taken so long,” Lee says. “We also want to know how come Officer Wilson has not been arrested. We want to know how come when they did the highway shutdown there were other things that were done inappropriately.”

'cause of the sick call ODW was dispatched to :)

when an officer of the law asks me to do something, I comply

Transparency comes with a price: STL police will need to increase annual budget by $800-900,000 for maintenance and upkeep of body cameras.

Lots of people don't seem to get that free things aren't really free.

You might be getting things for free, like food, housing, phones, etc. but someone, somewhere is paying $$$$ for them

Wow, significant find!

So even Parks acknowledges that MB was advancing on OW. Okay, granted, Parks wasn't a witness and doesn't claim to be, but he does have reason to have inside knowledge of what the witnesses are saying. He admits there were blows at the car, and he admits that MB was advancing on OW. Does anything think Parks would admit to those things if they weren't what happened?

If that's what the witnesses are telling the GJ, and if that's consistent with the physical evidence, I just can't imagine that any GJ could find probable cause for an indictment. Every day, we discover more things supporting "justified shoot" and fewer things supporting "racist cop shoots innocent teen for no reason." To the point that, as someone said above, there's virtually nothing in the MB side's bucket.
BBM

That's why they keep having pressers DEMANDING that OW be arrested immediately, OR ELSE... scary threats is all they have left now

  • #478
For sure they have a metal detector where they will be meeting, right?

Please tell me yes!

yes - there are metal detectors at the StL County Court House where I assume they meet

it's not what I KNOW but what I INFER based on facts regarding the sick case needing to get out of the area -- Canfield Dr. was the most LOGICAL route

Yeah, I'm careful what I comply with -- if I have issue with LEO, I will/have totally greased the wheel & made my issues known! But never would I disregard what he/she asks like move out of the middle of the road & onto the sidewalk; that's just itchin' for trouble

Snipped for focus. Apparently, VERY, VERY dangerous.

BBM. The whole article is about how dangerous the area is. I recommend the whole article.

During the last council meeting, several people complained that there were not enough black owned businesses in Ferguson. I don't know why they were asking the city council about that. It is not up to them/

IT is up to the black business owners. If you finally saved up enough and borrowed enough, to get your business started, would YOU want to put that new store in a strip mall in Ferguson? Probably most black biz owners try and make it in other safer areas. They know what the customer base is like already.
