It seems really difficult to get a handle on the facts in this case.

I'm not sure that these witnesses going on TV and telling their story is helping matters.

I know yesterday the narrative started to include "he was down on his knees with his hands in the air," and now I'm reading that he was shot from above in the forehead.

Witness statements shouldn't be "evolving," as it starts to make me wonder if some might be adding to their statements based on what others are saying?

IDK if this is what is happening or not, but I am finding it hard to understand how his friend initially said, "he was running away," to MB received a shot to the head as the cop was standing over him?

I agree. We talked yesterday how we all are coming into this based on our own "short movie versions" of how we all think this went down, and this contributes to why some of us are on entirely different pages.

In my "movie version", I have the officer over reacting and being very mad at this guy after the struggle. Basically losing his temper and taking lethal revenge on the guy. My version could be wrong of course.

It will be very hard for us until there is some sort of legal determination of what exactly happened and how it went down. Until then, we are doing the best we can with the conflicting reports and conflicting news media.

Only due to an allegation the store theft was from 6/9..not 8/9...if that comes out it was two months earlier, then it's CYA mode..

Stronged armed robbery was on 8/9, not 6/9.
There is no reason for misinformation.

You have to kind of strain to hear the guy in the background, but that is incredibly compelling eye witness testimony, IMHO, and matches exactly what I believe happened.

I couldn't make out what he was saying? It sounded as if MB was charging toward the cop????????????

Since it's video from the scene, are we allowed to transcribe it? I know we're not allowed to quote facebook, but is video from the scene able to be discussed verbatim?

If not, I'll delete my post.

He said he heard several shots and MB was running away and the witness thought the cop had missed, and then MB turned around and ran toward the cop and then was shot more. I thought he'd missed with his first shots, he said again, but he turned around and ran toward the cop. Some of it's hard to make out but I think he repeated that 3 times.

I wonder if this guy gave a statement?

and his hands were in the air..that you skipped over...yes, resisting arrest also doesn't warrant a death sentence. Why when his hands were raised did he not place MB under arrest?

Why the need to empty his weapon into MB's body?

I'll never understand how someone could be okay with police abuse of power/authority. He doesn't not have carte blanche to kill someone, his job is to uphold the law. Give the alleged perp due process. No judge, jury and executioner without being given a DP sentence.

fgs, I'll never understand someone STEALING.
I'll never understand someone bullying a store employee.
I'll never understand a big teen walking in the middle of the
street deliberately blocking traffic...esp a cop.
if he would have obeyed the LEO he'd be alive.

What video are you watching?

What video are you watching?

The one she linked. The BACKGROUND convo she's referencing starts at 6:25ish

I'm sure the media will get a hold of this, and they'll have no problem filtering it so you can hear the conversation in the background.

I agree that is compelling, and very difficult to watch. There are many people in the background that claim he was shot while on the ground, most likely repeating what they have heard. It most likely started with 1 or 2 real witnesses that really saw most of it, and then the information got spread around to others.

Its very sad and easy to understand why this community got so outraged over this if it turns out to be as bad as it seems.

But I do agree that at this point, there should be no looting and destruction of property like what happened last night. It all is so tragic.

As far as that, yes, MB absolutely had the right as an American to be defended, in court.

And it pretty well matches what the officer's friend said in that radio interview.

Why would Dorian Johnson admit it happened that same day, if it really happened in June?

Because it happened the same day. Can we stipulate that the date setting on the camera was wrong and move on? It looked like 6 to me but I know it was wrong because the event happened August 9. sheesh JMO

BBM

This is the point I was trying to make earlier. Someone remarks in the video, "he shot him even after he was on the ground," and the other guy says, "what, they shot him even after he was down?" And the other guy responds, "well that's what someone said."

An allegation is not fact, it's not spreading misinformation if I see myself it's a 6 and not an 8 on that still shot..SMH

Per CNN (via cable, so no link) Gov. Nixon just announced that he has declared a state of emergency, and there will be a curfew.

Good - it's about time.
