Al said,

Sharpton said the “bad apples” must be taken care of within American police departments, but the black community must also be “straight up” about its own issues.

“Some of us act like the definition of blackness is how low you can go,” Sharpton said. “Blackness has never been about being a gangster or 🤬🤬🤬🤬. … Blackness was, no matter how low we were pushed down, we rose up anyhow!”
“Blackness was never surrendering,” Sharpton continued. “Our pursuit of excellence. It was when it was against the law to go to some schools, we built black colleges and learned anyhow. When we couldn’t go downtown to church, we built our own. … We never surrendered! We never gave up.”

But Sharpton said that now that black people have attained positions of power, some act like “it ain’t ‘black’ no more to be successful.”

“Now you want to be a n***** and call your woman a ho — you’ve lost where you come from!” Sharpton said, as the audience exploded in applause. “We’ve got to clean up our community so we can clean up the United States of America.”

LOL

I posted last night that Steve Stenger was voted in as the Democratic County Executive position over Dooley this past August. Stenger still needs to win the Nov election to become County Executive, but these foolios think he can do anything. Only Gov Nixon can request the removal of McCulloch as the ELECTED County Prosecutor.

Eh, IMHO & locals please provide your 2 cents but last night may have to do with Stenger's overwhelming win over Dooley this past Aug.

Why must this be racial? Isn't is about justice/due process? It's almost that some people need to be re-educated about things that should be known IMHO & WTF?

You're gonna have a hard time getting me to say much positive about any politician in the area, particularly in relation to this case but Stenger hasn't done much one way or the other yet to earn any criticism. Or at least that I'm aware of. Dooley is a fool.

As to Stenger and McCulloch, I wouldn't be shocked if some wrongly asked for Stenger to remove McCulloch, but what I remember most is them asking Stenger to denounce McCulloch or essentially give him a vote of no confidence, which is different than removing him. Neither will happen though.

IIRC Chief Jackson tried to inform the Browns before the video release, but they refused to take his call.

unbelievable
Correct me if I'm wrong....and I'm sure someone will, but is it not the normal procedure for the DA to keep the family updated on certain results of the investigation, such as letting them know the video was being released ahead of time? Or informing the family's attorney of the final results from the drug testing?

Please do not sleuth the family, just wondering how much information Crump may have regarding this investigation.

the way I read this, it's pretty evident that the DA seeks to keep the victim, or family, informed. If they don't take the calls, then I guess the DA would inform the attorney.

State law guarantees crime victims and witnesses certain notification rights and participation in the criminal justice system.

These rights are found in Section 595.209 of Missouri Revised Statutes:

Rights of victims and witnesses

595.209. 1. The following rights shall automatically be afforded to victims of dangerous felonies, as defined in section 556.061, RSMo, victims of murder in the first degree, as defined in section 565.020, RSMo, victims of voluntary manslaughter, as defined in section 565.023, RSMo, and victims of an attempt to commit one of the preceding crimes, as defined in section 564.011, RSMo; and, upon written request, the following rights shall be afforded to victims of all other crimes and witnesses of crimes:

(1) For victims, the right to be present at all criminal justice proceedings at which the defendant has such right, including juvenile proceedings where the offense would have been a felony if committed by an adult, even if the victim is called to testify or may be called to testify as a witness in the case;

(2) For victims, the right to information about the crime, as provided for in subdivision (5) of this subsection;[/b ]

(3) For victims and witnesses, to be informed, in a timely manner, by the prosecutor's office of the filing of charges, preliminary hearing dates, trial dates, continuances and the final disposition of the case. Final disposition information shall be provided within five days;

(4) For victims, the right to confer with and to be informed by the prosecutor regarding bail hearings, guilty pleas, pleas under chapter 552, RSMo, or its successors, hearings, sentencing and probation revocation hearings and the right to be heard at such hearings, including juvenile proceedings, unless in the determination of the court the interests of justice require otherwise;

(5) The right to be informed by local law enforcement agencies, the appropriate juvenile authorities or the custodial authority of the following:

(a) The status of any case concerning a crime against the victim, including juvenile offenses;
(b) The right to be informed by local law enforcement agencies or the appropriate juvenile authorities of the availability of victim compensation assistance, assistance in obtaining documentation of the victim's losses, including, but not limited to and subject to existing law concerning protected information or closed records, access to copies of complete, unaltered, unedited investigation reports of motor vehicle, pedestrian, and other similar accidents upon request to the appropriate law enforcement agency by the victim or the victim's representative, and emergency crisis intervention services available in the community;
(c) Any release of such person on bond or for any other reason;
(d) Within twenty-four hours, any escape by such person from a municipal detention facility, county jail, a correctional facility operated by the department of corrections, mental health facility, or the division of youth services or any agency thereof, and any subsequent recapture of such person;

maybe we could start a thread to discuss this because I would love to show some stats specific to this region (StL metro)

children regardless of color/race/religion/social status (caste :) ) are influenced by their parents' lifestyles aka indoctrinated -- IMHO this "great divide" shown in America over the MB tragedy illustrates it perfectly!

I know plenty of "white" people (even relatives) who have not bettered themselves but have allowed the Gov't to take care of them & their kids & now the f-ing grandkids! Probably in a few yrs another one will have a baby & get State & Fed Aid! None of my cousins had a desire to go to school or even learn. When we were younger, my sister & I just thought that side of the family were dumb; now we know they are lazy & content on living off the dole in the Great State of IL (approx $20K a yr per person depending on how many dependents you have) plus they breed like crazy! I thank God every day that my father taught his girls to never settle & do your BEST! Didn't matter that we were females of Native American heritage -- the World was our Oyster!

Don't know why my Uncles didn't teach that ethic to their kids, grandkids; doesn't matter about race/color/religion/socio-economic class/etc -- it's all up to YOU! And hopefully you have some support. Education/learning is key!

The Cycle will continue until someone breaks it

I understand what your saying, my point for some to say ALL blacks are programmed from the womb to behave a certain way is not fair to all who live there. Or anywhere for that matter. Jmo

Not a personal attack just a debate.

With respect to your thoughts, I must jump in here and say I am insulted for blacks that there are people who believe " blacks are indoctrinated from the womb to be willing to continue the cycle" Please view a group of people collectively rather than what is served to one through msm. I agree there are issues but to white wash a group when there are hard working families who do send their children to school and PAY taxes take care of their homes etc. Is absurd. Jmo

ciao

Be insulted, I only ask that you do so on point. If you are unsure about something, please ask questions. But no worries otherwise, I seldom consider someone taking exception to my words as a personal attack.

If you really are interested in what I am trying to say, you will find that my comment regarding indoctrination was not directed at the recipients of the indoctrination, it was directed at those who are doing the indoctrinating. It's the people who think it is productive to use children to speak out against another race, kids don't need to be involved in adult issues. It's the people who direct the focus of disillusioned blacks towards non-tangible things.

Make no mistake, I have mad respect for blacks (anyone really) who become responsible and productive members of society, including those who accomplish nothing more that raising children to be responsible. In fact, I salute some of those very people you mentioned as the example that being born black in a poor community is not a life sentence to an impoverished existence. Those people are the ones Anthony Shahid should be bringing to the forefront in all this.

Hopefully we are on the same page on this issue. I will close with this. Most people who take exception to my words, which is perfectly fine, seldom take the step of answering my questions. There was one on the post you quoted. Do you have any thoughts? The reason I ask again is, had you answered that, I think you'd have been more clear as to who I was focusing on.

Thanks for your thoughts!

I'll try and find where I read that Chief Jackson had tried to alert the Brown family before he released the store video, but they refused to take his call. But I think it's clear from Crump's irate reaction that day, which makes no mention of Jackson's failure to notify the family first, that Jackson had made the attempt:
.....................................................................................................................................................................
"Michael Brown’s family is beyond outraged at the devious way the police chief has chosen to disseminate piece mil information in a manner intended to assassinate the character of their son, following such a brutal assassination of his person in broad daylight.

There is nothing based on the facts that have been placed before us that can justify the execution style murder of their child by this police officer as he held his hands up, which is the universal sign of surrender.

The prolonged release of the officer’s name and then the subsequent alleged information regarding a robbery is the reason why the family and the local community have such distrust for the local law enforcement agencies.

It is no way transparent to release the still photographs alleged to be Michael Brown and refuse to release the photographs of the officer that executed him.

The police strategy of attempting to blame the victim will not divert our attention, from being focused on the autopsy, ballistics report and the trajectory of the bullets that caused Michael’s death and will demonstrate to the world this brutal execution of an unarmed teenager."

One of the reasons some people are reluctant to get off public assistance is because of the hassle involved in getting back on. Apparently, there's a lot of verification required before the first check arrives. Then with every change in children, marriage, divorce, education level, housing change, medical/psych condition of any/all in the household, the recipient's status must be reevaluated/updated with proof provided. The article I read, who knows where now, said that getting even a low level job results in serious eligibility problems and loss of income, plus the recipient can't just drop the job, say "My bad" and continue as before... s/he must restart the whole lengthy eligibility process from ground zero.

This actually makes it worse. The excuse of "it's too hard to deal with the paperwork, so why bother," highlights the mindset. Why should it be easy to receive public assistance? It should be a process where someone's circumstances are fully vetted. There's too much corruption, waste, and fraud as it is.

One of the major flaws in the system IMO is the idea that no father = easier/more benefits. It's wrong to have a system in place that makes it more advantageous if the father is out of the picture. Maintaining the family unit should be a top priority.

IMO

there was no ALL stated in the original post; may have been based on some qualified statistics -- that's why I wrote my story; has nothing to do with White-Washing when we have a plethora of video of what's going down in Ferguson & beyond by the agitators aka domestic terrorists

Re public assistance in all its forms, the principle that "There's no free lunch" must be reestablished, no matter the tremendous cost of switching to a "work required" payment system of some sort. Maybe instead of direct payment to welfare recipients, the money could go to employers/private agencies willing to train welfare recipients in job skills/personal deportment/standard, non-ebonics English, personal finance, driving a car, etc. It's not racist to require all able-bodied welfare recipients to participate fully, just as in a regular job, to improve/learn skills to enable them to escape poverty. And if they refuse, there should be foreseeable and strictly enforced consequences for that choice. The current system funds child abuse imo.

Just read a comment posted 11 hrs ago on stlpublicradio.org, and not citing it as factual. Anyone see the vid?
http://news.stlpublicradio.org/post...ows-release-grand-jury-transcripts-recordings

"I was watching the news that day. I think it was CNN that showed a video
of the attack and shooting
. This is what I saw. Mike was attacking the
officer inside the police cruiser. He was using his bulk to hold the
officer in place. The other guy was holding the officer's leg so the
officer could not move
. The other guy jumped up and ran away. Mike
pushed himself off of the officer and stood up. He pulled up his pants,
turned, and ran away.
The officer stood up. He was holding the
left side of his face. He went to walk towards Mike but staggered to the
left and then to the right. His right hand swayed back and forth with
gun in hand. His arm swayed up as if to aim but did not stop. Not sure
if he fired.
Mike stopped running, turned around, and ran
towards the officer. The officer shot two times. Mike went down slowly
and fell on his side. The officer staggered over to Mike and shot three
times. End of video
The video was shown many times over the
next hour and then went poof
. Never to be seen again. That was between
1PM to 2PM Cen US
A."

If it was an authentic vid, seems like it would have resurfaced.

If it was a computer-gen reconstruction of attack & shooting,
seems like it aired waaaay soon after attack & shooting--
too soon to have been produced or made.

{{{ETA: Not saying attack-&-first shot-sequence did not happen that way.
just wondering if any vid captured this early action, the attack-&-first-shot-in-car.}}}

So, anyone see that vid???
(or was commenter delusional or deliberately lying that s/he saw vid w that sequence of events?)

Thx in adv.

I'm leaning towards deliberately lying. If that video existed, IMO we would know about it.

Also, how would CNN get it so soon after the shooting?

Tend to agree. And frankly pretty damning of all involved. MB's assault, DJ's involvement and even makes OW's shooting sound more like an execution of MB was already down and he walked up to him before putting 3 more in him. Someone would have his somewhere if it were on CNN. Having said that, I still would not be shocked if there isn't more video out there that shows the incident, whether in full or in part. Just not sure I'm buying this story that it was out there and no one has heard about it for a month.
