Link?

And what does that mean exaclty

Did he suspect mb once they came face to face

Be nice if there was a detailed police report of the incident...smh

Chief Jackson was playing games with the video and changed or added to his story on multiple occasions. He at first said, ok I'll give you the cop's name but here's the video. Pretty much left it at that to allow people to think the two went together. Later questioned about it he said no, DW didn't know MB to be a robbery suspect at the time of the initial stop. Yet later again he changed or added to the story saying oh, yeah, but ummm DW came back later and at that time thought MB might have been the robbery suspect, which story doesn't jive with their own records.

It did ...

Im black, know plenty of blk people and i have family in st louis

There were outcrys that ferguson pd was on a smear campaign

Things didnt begin to simmer down until officer ron johnson took over and eric holder made his trip to ferguson

Why aren't you reading the information provided to you?
Before most of us here formed our opinions we learned BOTH sides.

No one knows 100% what happened, none of us were there and witnessed it ourselves. But making an educated opinion, IMO, is the only way to form one.

All IMO

Oh reedus!

Do you really think that a man who assaulted a police officer and tried to take his gun is not a threat to the general public?

If he would do that to a police officer, what would he do to a regular person on the street?

We already saw what he did to that poor shopkeeper 10 minutes before

They shouldnt have brought the case before a gj than lol

Its just an easy way out for mccullough

In St. Louis County, all homicide cases go before a grand jury, according to the county prosecutor’s office."
http://www.latimes.com/nation/natio...ry-ferguson-michael-brown-20140820-story.html

And, in preparation:

Although the term homicide is sometimes used synonymously with murder, homicide is broader in scope than murder. Murder is a form of criminal homicide; other forms of homicide might not constitute criminal acts. These homicides are regarded as justified or excusable.

Exactly! That's why the video and stills will be seen by the grand jury.
And it was released in response to FOI requests, no matter what the spin and attempts to deflect tried to say.

Ferguson City Attorney Stephanie Karr makes Statement on FOI Requests

Ferguson, Missouri – September 5th, 2014 - Within days of the tragic events on August 9, the City of Ferguson began receiving multiple requests for information and documents. While some of these requests were made in writing, many requests were made verbally due to the fact that the City’s website and email were down at several points during that week. City personnel cataloged all requests and treated them in the same manner as it would any Sunshine Law request. (The “Sunshine Law” is Missouri’s equivalent of the federal Freedom of Information Act).
Several reporters, news organizations and others asked for documents specifically pertaining to Michael Brown. One such request was made by the St. Louis Post Dispatch. On August 12, 2014, the paper requested “all documentation concerning the events leading up to and including the shooting of Michael Brown” which shall include “incident, arrest and investigative reports, 911 audio, photos and video retained by the police department.” Another request, made on August 14, 2014, by Judicial Watch requested all records relating to Michael Brown and dated between August 1, 2013, and August 9, 2014.
The Sunshine Law dictates that Governmental entities must respond to both general requests and specific requests and release all documents that are responsive to the those requests, unless those documents are otherwise closed.
The Ferguson police department retained the incident and investigative report of the store robbery which occurred less than 10 minutes before the shooting. The reports, which included the surveillance video, concerned Michael Brown. Under the Sunshine Law, the police department had no reason to close these records and withhold them from the public.
By the date of August 15, the City having reached its statutory deadline to respond to the information requests, released the store robbery reports, including the surveillance video.

Update 9/15/14: Mayor Knowles specifically mentioned that days before the August 15 tape release, reporters from KTVI FOX 2 asked him about the existence of surveillance footage of Brown Jr. shoplifting. Daily RFT just heard back from anchor Mandy Murphey via email who said she is the one who asked: "I asked him about the robbery video because I had learned about it several days before it was released. I asked him the question and he gave me no information about it. He said he didn't know anything about it at the time. I put in a formal sunshine request for the documented information leading up to the shooting."

May be the fastest turn around on a FOI request I have ever seen.

Treehouse

By holding specific factual evidence close to the vest they obviously frustrated the media. However, in doing so they also insured the integrity of witness evaluation. As a specifically intended outcome their decisions also meant that false witnesses could easily be identified.

My opinion too

Even if a scenario is possible where the shooting was unjustified, that wouldn't mean OW was guilty. Only if that scenario is the only reasonably possible scenario, beyond a reasonable doubt, would it be right to convict OW.

Not sure about that as a statement of the law. I'd have to think that one through but by adding the bolded, it almost makes it sound like the burden is kind of shifting to "beyond any doubt". But you do throw in only reasonably possible scenario. Regardless, yes, I agree, guilt is different than an indictment being handed down.

I agree with this. The video shows what it shows, which is a crime. Suffice it to say that what I saw in the video wasn't as shocking to the conscience for me as it is for others here.

It was a shock to me because of what I had been reading. MB was a recent high school graduate, getting ready to start college and was shot dead in the street in broad daylight while he was walking to his grandmothers' house.

I was outraged because this poor guy had struggled to get his diploma, was trying to better his life and he loved his grandmother. It was just so sad. I bought what the media was selling without researching to make my own decision. They got me hook, line and sinker.

You're wrong. Watch the video of the presser previously provided to you. He said at first contact ...first contact!
Then Wilson began to drive away...then he backed up...IMO it's logical to assume at the time he re engaged it was because he became aware of the robbery and saw brown with stolen goods

Yeah, Jackson gave at least three accounts.

Me too...especially when I kept hearing Trayvon Martins name along with Browns. I was really really angry.

C'mon katydid. We both know it's not just about what you show them but how you show them, the order it's presented in and so forth. No different than the same word can have multiple meanings depending on how it is said.
bbm

reedus23,
ITA.
But here, other forces pressed McC to starting to put case to GJ about 2-3 wks post-event.
Imo, pretty quickly, compared to many other investigations.
Not a lot of time to interview witnesses, then others, go back to orig. witnesses in light of new witness info.
Also sort out discrepancies between witnesses.
Await forensics, etc.
Compare autopsy v1(Dr.Case), v.2 Baden & Parcells, v.3 DoJ (assuming McC has access)

{{ETA: did not think this incomplete comment posted to bd, so adding more below.
Sorry for itchy fingers, glad I did not have gun in hand}}}

Sort out poss discrep re autopsy rpts.
Ditto forensics.
Produce graphics, computer gen-reconstructions, charts, trajectories, photos, power points, etc.
Now, put all this together in way to make sense to GJ/lay ppl.
Yadda yadda yadda.

If pres to GJ is not movie-slick or L&O-SVU polished, understandable to me, w pressure-cooker the prosecutor is in.
Glad that the 2 attys assigned seem to be senior staff, not rookies.

jm2cts.

May be the fastest turn around on a FOI request I have ever seen.

:giggle: You should have followed the Caylee Anthony case. It was my first case I followed here. Florida is ninja fast, it was awesome :happydance:

You do understand he couldn't say much..right?

Do you believe all the reports that Wilson was injured are false? Even in light of Park's statements?

Are you saying everything Parks says is spot on? I'm from the show me state, so show me. I want to see the injuries so I can judge for myself.

What witness has contradicted what dorian has said besides im assuming ow?

Please not the friend of the grl friend who remains faceless

What are the lies you are referring to?

And what the case hinges on is what happened over 80 ft from the suv

What witness has contradicted what dorian has said besides im assuming ow?

There are other witnesses, who have not spoken publicly. Probably for fear of being attacked. There were people right by the SUV when the initial confrontation happened. When OW opened his car door, MB bum rushed him, shoved him back inside and began to pummel him. They struggled over the gun and it went off. There are witnesses and evidence to corroborate that version of events.

What are the lies you are referring to?

If you go to the media thread here, you can see all of DJs interviews and the lies stand out. In the first version, he said he was just walking doewn the street, and ran into MB, and they stated talking. No mention of the robbery. And he never mentions that MB was the aggressor. He makes OW the aggressive and violent one.
But use some common sense. Look at what the officer was doing just two minutes prior to pulling up on the 2 teens. He was on a sick call, helping a family with a baby having breathing problems.
What was MB doing at the time? Aggressively, assaulting and intimidating a little old shop owner, to steal blunt wraps. And then he began walking down the middle of the street, proudly carrying the stolen merchandise, in plain sight, and even after seeing the cop car approaching from afar, they continued to walk down middle of the street, carrying the stolen 'rillos. And when asked to move, THEY SAID NO. He wanted a confrontation. The cop didn't, as he was driving on past. MB wanted a confrontation for some reason.

DJ lied by omitting any mention of the robbery and omitting any mention of MB being the aggressor and bumrushing the officer.

His story makes no sense. Why would the cop try and grab a 6ft4 in 300 lb muscleman by the neck with his left hand, and try and pull him into the car window? Why would he do that? It would be impossible and he'd very likely injure himself.

And the cop is there in broad daylight, in front of a zillion windows and balconies, full of peeps who don't like cops much. Why would he just pull up on these 2 and grab one by the neck and pull out his gun and begin shooting from his car? That is DJ's story. And it makes no sense.

And DJ is currently fighting charges of lying to the police in another case. So his credibility is highly questionable.

And what the case hinges on is what happened over 80 ft from the suv

What happened 80 feet from the SUV is connected to what happened 50 seconds earlier inside the SUV. MB assaulted OW and tried to get the gun, and it went off. That is attempted murder of a police officer. So OW had the legal right and obligation to try and stop him, by any means necessary. If MB turned and faced him and was coming towards him, then that would be seen as him being a threat. The landscaper said that the officer was walking backwards when he shot the final shots. Sounds like MB was coming at him to me. Even if he was slowly doing so or stumbling, if he was still moving in that direction, he was a possible threat.

The entire incident unfolded in about one minute. If OW was blindsided by MB when he drove up, then the remaining 40 seconds would have been done under physical duress/injuries.
