Not sure why there is a discussion about the video when it does not make MB any less guilty of strong-armed robbery. What got him killed was attacking an officer, wrestling for the officer's weapon which discharged and failure to obey the officers directions in the process of being arrested.

It's very, very sad.

Only thing sadder...making him some sort of folk hero to the young children there.
Mike Browns name should be on every responsible parents lips when telling their children how NOT to behave!

Your discussion of his past does make me wonder why the County didn't hire him when Jennings PD was disbanded. <modship>
For me, it all comes down to what happened 100+ feet from the vehicle. Not some robbery video. Not a history of excessive force. All of those things, while they paint the bigger picture are not determinative. What exactly would establish it one way or the other 100+ from the vehicle is hard to say. There are so many variables.
bbm

As my post said, that was hypothetical events re something that conceivably make some ppl do a 180, away from being justified shooting.
I have no info about ODW's personal or professional life, aside from the MSM I've seen & read.
If there had been dirt in his HR jacket, seems like we might have heard about it by now, but not necessarily.
I'm not saying that absence of evidence is evidence of absence.

ITA, what happened [whatever distance] from cruiser is hinge-pin of justified or unjustified.

If the two of us could sit together watching HD vid from 10 cameras and listen to surround sound of those 2-3-4-5min,
we might agree on justified or unjustified.

Lacking that, I look forward to forensic evidence and hope it's more enlightening than witness interviews w MSM.

I guess I have been around the block too many times. I serious withheld judgement until some facts started coming out before I began forming an opinion on this case.

It did ...

Im black, know plenty of blk people and i have family in st louis

There were outcrys that ferguson pd was on a smear campaign

Things didnt begin to simmer down until officer ron johnson took over and eric holder made his trip to ferguson

How is it a smear campaign if the video is the TRUTH? The video was from minutes before the shooting. That makes it totally relevant to MBs state of mind DURING the confrontation.

I know there was some outcry, but the public as a whole, simmered down after seeing the video. Not all and there were plenty of protests, But there was National outrage before the video was released. And afterwards, a lot of the public outrage leveled down.

Okay, I sacrificed an hour, and took one for the team. I actually sat and watched the entire hour of Rev Al Sharpton show just now. I was really curious to see if he was going to mention the Rams game. Either to encourage or discourage the protests. He didn't say a peep. Actually never mentioned Ferguson. Although he spent the entire show on the problems in the NFL.

Bless you...No way I could stomach that

And mine in red.

1) Seedz said FPD said x, I gave him the exact quote. Nothing to do with a report. But I'll address this claim. No, nowhere in the report does it state that no one in FPD had seen anyone, etc. I think I've seen others address this prior, but two officers responded to the scene of the strong arm robbery. That page was a report made by one of them, not by the entire FPD.

2) Really? He assaulted a store clerk and a PD and went for the officer's gun, but isn't a threat? Actually posts have articulated the possible threats Michael posed.

3) I didn't "leave it out". I referenced that "multiple laws" and posts addressed this. It's untrue that Wilson himself had to feel threatened as claimed. I believe he felt Michael was a threat to himself and others.

4) Re: "but he did". Are you now saying Officer Wilson executed Michael Brown?

Two female prosecutors, one of them African American, will be presenting the evidence. ALL of the evidence. If this jury wants to see the officer charged, after seeing all of the evidence, they will do so.

Like I said, I don't doubt they will present ALL the evidence. Wasn't the point of my post.

Hopefully

But the prosecution hasnt even recommended a charge which is highly unusual and favors ow

I find that very problematic. I also am soooooooo split on disclosing all the evidence afterwards if no indictment is handed down. Part of me so wishes we used preliminary hearings in cases like this that are open to the public.

Ferguson limiting attendance at its Town Hall meetings http://bit.ly/XyoaUI

But by Friday, a little-known unit of the U.S. Department of Justice had gotten involved, and those meetings, originally billed by Mayor James Knowles as a dialogue with the community “so they know exactly where we stand on things with full transparency,” would be closed to the media and nearly anyone else who wasn’t a resident.
********************************************************************************
There it is in black and white WHO is responsible for the change. Mark my words, the Mayor et al will be blamed for this.

Seedz: here is a link to show relevance of the evidence.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...ld-be-admissible-at-a-federal-criminal-trial/

I don't think it's a "smear" campaign but if people are not familiar with rules of evidence, FOIL requests or outside pressures of MSM it may appear that way. It's a delicate balancing act for LE so I give them the benefit of the doubt. Regardless, it's relevant to MB's behavior.

It's not a question of admissibility at trial. There is a lot of information they have that is admissible that they haven't disclosed to the public. FOIL request? MSM request? I don't buy it. Others can and that's fine.

What witness has contradicted what dorian has said besides im assuming ow?

There are other witnesses, who have not spoken publicly. Probably for fear of being attacked. There were people right by the SUV when the initial confrontation happened. When OW opened his car door, MB bum rushed him, shoved him back inside and began to pummel him. They struggled over the gun and it went off. There are witnesses and evidence to corroborate that version of events.

What are the lies you are referring to?

If you go to the media thread here, you can see all of DJs interviews and the lies stand out. In the first version, he said he was just walking doewn the street, and ran into MB, and they stated talking. No mention of the robbery. And he never mentions that MB was the aggressor. He makes OW the aggressive and violent one.
But use some common sense. Look at what the officer was doing just two minutes prior to pulling up on the 2 teens. He was on a sick call, helping a family with a baby having breathing problems.
What was MB doing at the time? Aggressively, assaulting and intimidating a little old shop owner, to steal blunt wraps. And then he began walking down the middle of the street, proudly carrying the stolen merchandise, in plain sight, and even after seeing the cop car approaching from afar, they continued to walk down middle of the street, carrying the stolen 'rillos. And when asked to move, THEY SAID NO. He wanted a confrontation. The cop didn't, as he was driving on past. MB wanted a confrontation for some reason.

DJ lied by omitting any mention of the robbery and omitting any mention of MB being the aggressor and bumrushing the officer.

His story makes no sense. Why would the cop try and grab a 6ft4 in 300 lb muscleman by the neck with his left hand, and try and pull him into the car window? Why would he do that? It would be impossible and he'd very likely injure himself.

And the cop is there in broad daylight, in front of a zillion windows and balconies, full of peeps who don't like cops much. Why would he just pull up on these 2 and grab one by the neck and pull out his gun and begin shooting from his car? That is DJ's story. And it makes no sense.

And DJ is currently fighting charges of lying to the police in another case. So his credibility is highly questionable.

And what the case hinges on is what happened over 80 ft from the suv

What happened 80 feet from the SUV is connected to what happened 50 seconds earlier inside the SUV. MB assaulted OW and tried to get the gun, and it went off. That is attempted murder of a police officer. So OW had the legal right and obligation to try and stop him, by any means necessary. If MB turned and faced him and was coming towards him, then that would be seen as him being a threat. The landscaper said that the officer was walking backwards when he shot the final shots. Sounds like MB was coming at him to me. Even if he was slowly doing so or stumbling, if he was still moving in that direction, he was a possible threat.

The entire incident unfolded in about one minute. If OW was blindsided by MB when he drove up, then the remaining 40 seconds would have been done under physical duress/injuries.

Its not fair to refer to mb size when we dont know dw size... at least i dont

Dorian did lie about the robbery at first, im sure he didnt want to incriminate himself. Dont think its just cause to toss out his testimony. And his account of what happened between ow and mb at the suv is corrobborated by tiffany mitchell

That is why i continue to refer to happened at the suv as the scuffle because there are multiple versions of what happened and i really dont what to believe besides that there was a scuffle

Still believe that the shooting was unjustified

But i will go through and read some of the older threads, links i was given though

Im open to the possibility of ow being innocent i just havent come across any credible evidence that suggest that he acted within reason

What happened when mb and ow came face to face after the foot chase is what the case hinges on

Glad i joined though

U all seem like a smart, fair minded bunch

What do you all think about the video of the guys where a man can be heard yelling "he had his hands up"?

Ha. Pretty much. I suppose they think they are going to all get on the field somehow and start chanting No Justice No Peace----I hope they have medical insurance...

Something tells me they expect all the players to start chanting "Hands Up! Don't shoot!" when the referee signals touchdown with his hands straight up. lol

I can't see how witness statements can be released, even with names redacted.
It's just not cool. IMO

Don't get me wrong, I would love to sift through every scrap!
