#Ferguson protestors are seeking @STLouisRams tickets for this Sunday in hopes of disrupting the game http://cbsloc.al/1uLB7a1
OK now I'm angry!!! Someone needs to arrest this man on the Youtube video for making terrorist threats. And Shane on CBS news for embedding this video to help get the word out. If one person is hurt in this particularly a child they will have blood on their hands. Listen to what he says. They will shut it down. There will be no joy in St Louis until there is "justice." this makes me sick that people can spout off like this. This isn't about football. This is about freedom and fear and Americans will not take it. Thus isn't Iraq where the thugs can run around pushing their misery on others.

Disrupt the game?? Yup. Good luck with that. Go ahead and show your ignorance and hate to the world. Let everyone see it.

I would think they weren't at the local courthouse (or wherever it is the GJ typically meets) otherwise I don't think we would have gotten pics.

I wonder who the chick in the yellow shirt is.

And I wonder who took the picture. I love that he is in his uniform :loveyou:

They have to announce it so y'all know to tune in and watch and so the cameras will be there. Again, it's not about actually blocking the highway. It's not about actually stopping a football game. It's about making sure their voices are heard. Announcing it insures that regardless of whether they block or stop anything. Not to say I agree or disagree with the tactics, but I just think it's more about making sure they're heard and making sure the cameras get there.

seeking St. Louis Rams tickets in the hopes of getting into the Edward Jones Dome and disrupting this Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Lee goes on to warn “that game is going to be shut down to the justice of Mike Brown.”

I think it is.

LOL, for the first time ever in my life I'm looking forward to MNF. I never watch sports on tv, but am definitely hoping to see something more than just a game on Oct 13. In a way.

Might be more to see if there are any live cams there like we have been watching in Ferguson...

Hope no one is injured, although if the plans are to disrupt that game, sounds like someone is going out of their way to find trouble.

Are any WSers going to the game?

BBM

reedus and krimekat are, IIRC

I wonder how many have been to an NFL game since the newer security guidelines were instituted. I picture angry, irrational people getting in the faces of screeners when they don't have the little, clear bags, can't get items in, etc. I bet LE and security will be watching for certain people, where they go, etc. The NFL monitors for hacking and has the ability to block some cell activity, and LE knows these rioters have been using SM to coordinate.

I think they lose support by the day with these stunts. I've seen more negative comments from those formerly in their camp via SM lately. It just makes them look unhinged and dangerous, IMO.

I do see the irony in that as journalists were saying the same thing about this not being Iraq or the Ukraine as they were being arrested.

I'm going to the game this Sunday. Not the Monday night game, at least not yet. I think krimekat said they're going to the Cards games this weekend. I would happily trade my Rams tickets for the Cards tickets if you're interested krimekat? haha

yeah, I plan on going downtown Sunday to see the festivities; surely one of my friends will have an extra ticket for sale, maybe not since it's the Cowboys :)

I don't see the football game being disrupted unless the players get involved; security is very tight & I assume will even be more so due to this "planned protest"; you can't even bring a purse into the Dome unless it's the NFL issued clear bag; they turn you away at the door & tell you to take your bag back to your vehicle or forfeit it

but I'm more interested in the Cardinals game Sunday night :)

Now, there’s a Youtube video with Ferguson protestor Umar Lee seeking tickets to the game.

“So all of those St. Louis Rams fans who love justice, I will ask you to contact me and to donate your St. Louis Rams tickets so protestors can get in the dome,” Lee says in the video.

Lee goes on to warn “that game is going to be shut down to the justice of Mike Brown.”

I didn't go to any games last year but the year before. At that time, I don't know of any clear bag requirement. That might have changed since. Dunno. I know my wife's purse wasn't clear but that's about all we took in as far as bags go.

Are these protests being supported and organized by Shahid or Vickers and others like them? It seems to me, and I could be way wrong, but seems to me it is more just people mouthing off either on the internet or making a spur of the moment statement. I really doubt they get a strong showing but I could be wrong.

I believe the clear bag rule was implemented last season & is still in place

http://www.stlouisrams.com/edward-jones-dome/game-day-info.html

BAG POLICY
The NFL strongly encourages fans to not bring any type of bags, but outlined below is what is permissible. Fans will be able to carry the following style and size bag, package, or container at stadium plaza areas, stadium gates, or when approaching queue lines of fans awaiting entry into the stadium:

Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed
12” x 6” x 12” (Official NFL team logo clear plastic totes will be available through club merchandise outlets or at nflshop.com).
One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap, no larger than 4.5”x6.5.”
An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at all gates.
All bags are subject to inspection.
Prohibited bags will not be “claim-checked” at the gates. If the guest arrives with a prohibited bag and did not drive to the dome, the guest will not be permitted to bring the bag into the event and the bag will not be claim-checked. Guests may dispose of the bag at an outside trash receptacle.

I foresee many protesters being ejected based on what's outline on the Rams website :)

I completely disagree that any of these protestors actions at this point are about "having their voices heard". They've screamed histrionicly enough that everyone knows their position. And they've repeatedly stated that their goal was to shut down the freeway as was done years ago for the 4 minutes for four hours, now 4.5 minutes for 4.5 hours, lie. And they've chanted, spoken about, tweeted etc about shutting down meetings, businesses games, etc to force others to put pressure to get their demands met. Honestly to attempt to spin and minimize what they're doing is pointless. See all the tweets and graphics posted earlier.

Yeah, I'd thought the suggestion the other day that some people give them tickets was a supremely bad idea. I have no respect for people that think these plans to extort citizens and businesses by threat and intimidation is no big deal. This could become violent. The rioters shot at police cars & choppers, etc. It'd be so frightening for people, especially children, to be blocked in or surrounded by angry people whose intention is to intimidate them into compliance with their demands. It's sick and criminal, and I hope anyone that blocks cars or protests within the stadium is arrested. Federal charges might have an impact.

I thought the suggestion (belonged to reedus, I think?) as proposed was a pretty good idea...I envisioned a kid throwing a temper tantrum...ooh!candy!...sort of situation. As in "chantthrowchantdisrupt...what...a free ticket? To **##!! with this...I'm gonna see me a game!"

And iirc, the suggestion included spreading out the seating associated with the tickets?Even if the "protestors" manage to buy a whole block of tickets, their voices will quickly be drowned out by surrounding fans, no doubt.

Wonder how a protestor would feel spending the game being sat on by a couple of big burly football fans (or...if it happened at one of My Steelers' games...one very ticked off grandmomma!)?

I love how Umar Lee says at the end of his video, 'Peace'

Very enlightening to read. I'll admit I was surprised to see that some folks think so highly of Feguson PD, Mayor, et al. I guess I wrongly assumed that those crazy, angry protesters respresented the majority of folks in Ferguson.

Nice to read those. Looking forward to when they post the rest.

How big has the biggest protest been? Several thousand MAYBE? Of those, how many were actually residents of Ferguson? And doesn't it seem that it is primarily the same people each occasion? Those protesting make up a small small fraction of the Ferguson community. The ones being violent make up even a smaller percentage. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Ferguson is not all bad. I think some are catching on and noting how a lot of the crime even in Ferguson centers in a smaller area. That's also why some of the over generalizations to "they" and "those folks" and "people in Ferguson" and "blacks in Ferguson" bothers me as it does. There's a beautiful and historic part of Ferguson. There are really good people in Ferguson. A vast majority in fact. I've learned to take it for what I think/hope people mean and that is those who are protesting or becoming violent.

I disagree Snoopy. When they've been told it's dangerous to block a highway and could injure or harm others, yet they attempt to do it anyway, not to mention the gunfire, looting, projectiles, assaulting LE, etc, these aren't just petulant but harmless children. They keep escalating to force their will. That's dangerous. How far will they go? On twitter, there's talk about revolution and that nonviolence isn't always the way to go, etc.
