Respectfully but strongly disagree. It is our brains that screw us up. If we could all listen to our hearts, all 7 billion of us would be happy and content.

When something doesn't go right...the first thing I ask myself, "what could I do differently?"

CoolJ,

LE tried the softer approach to the protesters. It didn't work. It has now gotten to the point where they are making terrorist type threats. They are not trying to better themselves, or to have others understand what their issues are, IMO. They simply want what they want and if they don't get it then there will be hell to pay. If they want understanding from others then they need to change the way they are behaving. The choice to do so is theirs. Apparently change is not what they really want. They simply want their "demands" met and for everyone else to do whatever they want/say without having any consequences for their actions.

So you are angry too? Don't you see how that back and forth will never change anything? That attitude of not caring is what is going to perpetuate this cycle. It will never end that way. It will probably just get worse. You do not want to live in that society, trust me, Because you can forget about that freedom you are trying to preserve.

I'm not angry. Why would I be? I'm sitting in my nice house, in a great diverse neighborhood.
I'm frustrated.
I don't know how people can be so ignorant.
I honestly believe this level of ignorance is a conscious choice.

Has anyone ever stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, the reason these protesters are acting and carrying on the way they are is because they have tried for years, decades even, what you may call a more reasonable approach and still feel as though they are not being heard. Please take a minute and try to imagine their pain and frustration. Because it is very real, they are not making it up. Many people of color truly and legitimately do feel as though they are discriminated against by LE. It is real. It is NOT just a bunch of thugs looking for a reason to act like idiots. They have concerns that are not being heard, no matter how they deliver their message.

What I am saying does not excuse illegal or harmful behaviour. What I am saying is that it may be time to try and feel a little compassion.

Absolutely not. Not from me, anyway. But I will tell you who the 'many people of color' I do feel compassion for AND admiration:

1. the AA police officers who have been treated with the most disrespect and disdain from people of their very own race.
2. the AA men, women and children that I saw cleaning up the streets after the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 protesters of their very own race flung their trash everywhere.
3. the AA men, women and children that I saw cleaning up the local businesses that were looted by people of their very own race.
4. the AA men and women that I saw volunteering their own time to hold makeshift school in the library because 🤬🤬🤬🤬 protesters of their very own race were preventing the children from returning to school.

I could go on but you get my jest. I don't care what color you are, there is absolutely no reason to act like a violent, angry, low class 🤬🤬🤬🤬. It all comes down to personal choice and these 'folks' continue to make wrong ones every moment they're awake.

And if they keep doing what they're doing, they will continue to keep getting what they're getting and be stuck in the miserable lives that they've created for themselves.

PS: I'm glad you're back on the thread CoolJ. I've been missing your posts :seeya:

Pretty much... But what I see looks more like he just reached his camera down and in. He started with the camera at his eye level.

Then it drops to his knee level and inward... And he doesn't say "REALLY!?", and there doesn't seem to be any contact, until after he moved his camera.

His move wouldn't have been to get the license plate, since he (and others) had already done that... with much fanfare.

But even if he was, I see no reason to arrest the driver.

According to these tweets, the person who was hit by the SUV was an intern of Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal.

Anybody else think we're becoming a nation of codependents?

I dunno.

Thanks for the great posts, everyone. I'm way behind, but think I'm going to just let Calgon and a glass of Merlot take me away. :seeya:

This thread is about the protests. And the protests are clearly about racism? Do you not agree?
No, I absolutely do not agree. That is the problem. Some can claim the protests are about racism all they like but until they learn what personal responsibility is and PRACTICE it, I'm afraid they will keep on blaming "racism" for all of their problems.

Obviously, those that are chanting and calling for OW's death are in the wrong and outright idiots. But yes, I believe the protests since day 1 have been about racism. The initial reaction to this incident was the tipping point, but it is not where their anger comes from.

CoolJ, I don't think that those of us who criticize the methods of some of these protesters are without compassion. It's not an either/or situation. I've participated in some protests myself and been horrified at the behavior of some very bad actors. In this case, stopping, surrounding, sitting on, and hitting the vehicle of someone who was just passing through and then blaming *him* was clearly over the top.

Blocking the street, too, was a tactic to encourage police to the scene. Some of these protesters wanted a confrontation with police; they might as well have phoned them. This is no way to protest. It's not even a decent showing of civil disobedience. It's just crap.

I have no words for this public official

I guess it's an improvement that her tweet is not littered with curse words,

I can't believe that I just said this tweet is an improvement :gaah:

You're certainly in a "glass half full" mood tonight!

Let me say this one more time for those who did not get to read my past post. There is no, nothing, nada, zip evidence that MB was shot because of his race. Protestors will believe what they are lead to believe through false information. There are less and less protestors as every day goes by because people have had a chance to calm down from the initial shock (and seeing MB lying in the street would have done that for me). It is hard to look at those photographs now. No proof of any kind exists that this shooting was based on anything other than the officer feared for his life. The State has never released any information stating that Officer Wilson deliberately shot MB.

Not being a smart a$$, but I honestly don't think they know what they're protesting for.

Now why on earth would a Senator hire an intern that doesn't have two brain cells to rub together to tell them to stay out of the road when there is traffic?!?!

I have a reply but I would definitely get a time out.....ah, err, I mean vacation. :blushing:

And you were right in another post about anger begetting anger. Well, I'm enraged. But this is a good thing - America is seeing it with their own eyes and waking up.

My opinion only

Americans are waking up to what exactly?

There have been multiple reports that Officer Wilson was injured that we're able to consider, including from Daryl Parks, one of the family's three attorneys.

It's inaccurate to say there have been no "on the record' statements from LE citing Wilson having visible injuries.

"The genesis of this was a physical confrontation," Belmar said, adding that Ferguson police asked his office to investigate the case.

Without revealing what led to the dispute, Belmar said the preliminary investigation showed that the Ferguson officer tried to exit his vehicle, but Brown pushed him back into the car, "where he physically assaulted the police officer" and struggled over the officer's weapon, Belmar said.

The officer was taken to an area hospital where he was treated for a "swollen face," Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said, adding he had not personally seen the officer's injury.

The officer who shot Brown was injured in the confrontation and the “side of his face was swollen,” Jackson said. The officer was treated at a hospital, the chief said, and he was “very shaken.”

Jackson, who spoke on the phone with News 4's Laura Hettiger Wednesday morning, said the officer "was hit" and the "side of his face was swollen."

KloodN, you have the patience of Job for continually taking the time to provide proof of these facts. But sometimes when some ask for proof, they really don't want it if KWIM :blowkiss:

I am just saying that that behaviour will not change without compassion. So you can carry on having zero compassion but IMO it is that thought process coming from both sides that helping to carry on this conflict.

And when I say conflict I don't mean Ferguson. It's not just the people of Ferguson who are angry. The protesters are using this particular incident to voice their frustrations, it doesn't matter if MIke Brown deserved to be shot or not. The anger isn't about that... It is about a distrust towards LE. Whether justified or not it is real, they really do feel it.

RBBM - That, my friend, is called victim mentality. It's sad to see them teaching their children to be victims. This cycle will never end. imo

“Your complaints, your drama, your victim mentality, your whining, your blaming, and all of your excuses have NEVER gotten you even a single step closer to your goals or dreams. Let go of your nonsense. Let go of the
delusion that you DESERVE better and go EARN it! Today is a new day!" - Steve Maroboli
