Personally I am shocked this memorial has been allowed to remain in the middle of the street!
It wouldn't be tolerated here.
A ribbon on a telephone pole...a little plaque...but not a mountain of stuff littering the center of the road

Yup, on twitter, lots of assumptions, huge jumps, and accusations that the EVIL HATERS burned down the memorial. I don't see anyone questioning it, just jumping right onto it as if it were fact.

From previously linked article

Mull, who knew Brown and his family, said people in the neighborhood are already assuming this was arson and dismissed the idea that the flames could have ignited from one of the candles that are sometimes seen at the memorials.

"The candles are usually lit in the middle of the street at night time and they're usually put out," he told Daily RFT. "It's usually some watchers out there putting it out. The watchers usually go in at a certain time."

A photo Daily RFT snapped on September 9 does show candles placed at the bottom of the memorial, though they were unlit.

Other media reports showed candles in the smoldering debris.

Saw a tweet from someone at memorial that the "paid agitators are back". Some are discussing crashing the Support Wilson event this Saturday.

that will go over like a lead balloon -- the last ODW rally I went to was crawling with LEOs

I guess messing with the Ferguson Farmer's Market wasn't enough? WoW!

IMHO no one is going near Canfield Gardens unless they live there/know someone there -- it's not a place for "whitey" to be EVER, especially after 9 Aug

I completely understand it makes it harder to prove but let's say I sexually harassed a woman at work but she never reports it. A year later I sexually harass another later who does report it and a lawsuit is filed. During the course of discovery they learn of this prior harassment. I can guarantee you that the prior incident of harassment will be looked into and used at trial.

I'm confused. Shouldn't it be?? I mean, we've all heard that the most common predictor of future behavior is past behavior....and if I were sitting on a jury for this sexual harassment claim, don't you think the fact that you sexually harassed someone a year ago would be relevant?

RFT (Riverfront Times) is a liberal rag IMHO

The St. Louis Riverfront Times appears to be a legitimate newspaper. This just appears to be a separate blog section. If you find out different, let me know. Thanks.

Waiting for a tweet from Chappelle-Nadal that the memorial was torched by the KKK.

It's hit national news. ABC & NBC.

Some in the crowd were so angry about the fire that they chased away some reporters.

At around 10:30 a.m., a crowd of about 75 people gathered around the rebuilt memorial and joined hands to pray. The prayer ended with the crowd raising their hands and shouting "We are Mike Brown," and "We're young, we're strong, we're marching all day long."

Yup, called it earlier.

So where's the video proof it was started by the cops

Wouldn't the most logical reason for the fire have been the possibility that one of the candles could have started it since the other memorial in the center of the street was untouched?

log·ic noun \ˈlä-jik\
proper or reasonable way of thinking about or understanding something

Reasonable logic seems to be lacking.

"... and attached to a nearby electrical pole. Early this morning, the tree of stuffed animals that sprouted at the pole went up in flames, eventually reducing the giant pile to black ashes"

No danger having a pyramid of flammable items "attached to an electrical pole"?

See my post #438
