Do they lack the information or just chose to ignore it?

They lack it because they ignore it, IMO. It's readily available on the net. Most seem pretty attached to their smartphones. It's pretty surreal to see some mid protest checking their phones.

I don't know if I made myself clear enough katydid. My bad. Let's say they catch someone on camera throwing a rock, but there's a large crowd. Instead of risking injury to themselves that night, the cops can go the next morning or day and arrest that person (assuming they know who it is) when it's safer and quieter and no cameras. So I'm not suggesting that they arrest people during the day for things they are doing during that day. Rather arrest them in the morning when they're caught off guard sleeping for the actions of the night or nights before.

They did. They don't want the officers to wear those wristbands. That's it? Was that the only thing in the letter that they complained about? Those police officers were getting yelled at by the crowd for smiling last night. They were very well controlled and took a lot of verbal abuse anyone of us would have probably lashed out at them over it.

Think about what is happening:
AG resigns
Chief apologizes
Chief tries to talk with protestors
DOJ meeting with citizens regarding any complaints they want to file against LE
LE making arrests of most of the leaders (who can't be involved in any demonstrations until they go to court)
DOJ sends a letter and the only recommendation is that officers not wear wristbands
They rehire the PR man with a police record

I can't think of anything else but what does all this indicate if we put it all together. I know there is more.

To me it indicates no true bill.

They also gave court amnesty and arranged a kick azz job fair for the residents

I think the protests stem from something much deeper than just the alleged murder (their belief). Many people just want a sense of belonging. This is a way for them to bond, find a bottom line, fit in somewhere. Most of these people have come from crappy lives and just need to feel as though they are doing something for a cause. We all know what it is like to fight for a cause we truly believe in, deep down in our gut. Thing is now they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they let themselves believe MB was in the wrong then everything they just fought for/made them feel good was a farce. So now they continue on even though they may know in their hearts it is a lost cause. (I am not talking about the ones just looking to loot and burn but the ones who truly wanted to fight for a cause) JMO.

I agree. I felt the same way when I was protesting as a Berkeley college student, going to anti-war sit-ins. I loved the passionate meetings and making the plans and the excitement. But when some of the peeps got too much like anarchists, I had to step back.

I wish someone with true wisdom could step in and guide all of this energy into a more productive mission. They should be working towards positive community goals, helping the kids, helping the schools, running a free lunch program for the elderly, building local black owned businesses, etc etc.

Instead, they are single handedly running successful business out of their own neighborhoods.

OT but I read the story in your signature and how horrific. God rest their souls. :(

Amen and thank you. :heartbeat: I promised never to take it down. They never got the attention they deserved, and their poor parents are still dealing with it all. We have some great threads here at WS under the trials section.

They have a legitimate cause (unrelated to MB/OW) IMO but I think they're being mislead and misguided by some of the pros.

I'm sitting here watching channel 11 news and I hear, "DOJ has told Ferguson PD that they are not
to wear 'I am Darren Wilson' wristbands. They will wear name tags or be reprimanded."

This makes no sense. How to you garner support outside of Furgeson if the media doesn't have access?

I swear the Moby Dick analogy is astounding to me!

I thought the County screwed up and the tenor of MSM would change once they arrested reporters.

With the protesters actions toward local media, just wait for all the dirt coming out and slam pieces on the protesters. It's not like they're going to stop covering it, but now they will likely have a very different spin/tilt to their stories.

They have bought into the jackasses with iphones as being real journalists because the jackasses tell them what they want to hear and now the jackasses turned on MSM. I suppose in their mind, if they're the only ones in the area filming, they just became more important.

ETA - I hope LE continues to treat them no different than John Doe on the street. These guys aren't media and shouldn't be afforded the treatment that real media receives.

Whose father was a Black Panther. She sent two interns into the street to block traffic, attends and instigates the riots, rumbled with a fellow state Senator, and publicly cussed out the Gov.

ETA: that's not the norm for most state senators in the US
