I'm sitting here watching channel 11 news and I hear, "DOJ has told Ferguson PD that they are not
to wear 'I am Darren Wilson' wristbands. They will wear name tags or be reprimanded."

I bet some will just accept the 'reprimand' then. If they are wearing badges, with numbers, then that should be enough. WHY should they be forced to wear NAMETAGS when ANON is blasting their home addresses and SSNS and childrens names all over twitter land? And when they are getting facer to face DEATH THREATS, why should they give out their personal info?

They absolutely shouldn't be wearing name tags! I swear the DOJ is opposite of what is right and good in this country.

This makes no sense. How to you garner support outside of Furgeson if the media doesn't have access?

I swear the Moby Dick analogy is astounding to me!

They're tired of the truth getting out. Can't have their crimes on video. The local live streamers conveniently block or shut off cam at key moments.

.... They don't want the officers to wear those wristbands. That's it? Was that the only thing in the letter that they complained about?....
Think about what is happening:
DOJ sends a letter and the only recommendation is that officers not wear wristbands.....
I can't think of anything else but what does all this indicate if we put it all together. I know there is more.

Yes, DoJ's letter (of yesterday?) focused only on support-OW-wristband issue, but
also referenced the DoJ's letter of earlier this week - reminding FPD LEOs to display their name/IDs on uniform.
Imo these letters just cover two points, which are -already probably, imo - SOP for FPD & other PDs involved.
Imo, DoJ's letters were 'reminders' to the PDs involved to follow their SOP's re uniforms.

I believe DoJ's comprehensive report of findings and recommendation for actions, will be issued waaaay down the road.
Perhaps months away?

BBM

After all the non-stop, hideous threats to the officers and their families, this is a despicable order.

I think the protests stem from something much deeper than just the alleged murder (their belief). Many people just want a sense of belonging. This is a way for them to bond, find a bottom line, fit in somewhere. Most of these people have come from crappy lives and just need to feel as though they are doing something for a cause. We all know what it is like to fight for a cause we truly believe in, deep down in our gut. Thing is now they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they let themselves believe MB was in the wrong then everything they just fought for/made them feel good was a farce. So now they continue on even though they may know in their hearts it is a lost cause. (I am not talking about the ones just looking to loot and burn but the ones who truly wanted to fight for a cause) JMO.

Well let them join a bowling league for corns's sake.

Fit in and belong? This whole fiasco is not only alienating the individuals but is putting a huge schism between Ferguson and the rest of the country. These are NOT the actions of people who want to fit in and belong! That's the same kind of stuff put out there to "explain" gangs. There are tons of ways to fit in and belong and make a difference without spewing hatred, burning, looting, and terrorizing.

And frankly I'm quite sick and tired of the powers-that-be puffery going along with it. If some of these folks "in charge" were more concerned about justice and less concerned about image, elections, and sound bites, Ferguson would be back to normal by now.
