What good has the DOJ done the citizens of Ferguson to this point?

So far as I know, it's policy, not law. IMO, they need to change that policy yesterday.

The shooting of the off-duty cop is majorly concerning. Yes, it's remotely possible that it was a random drive-by shooting, but it seems far more likely that the cop was specifically targeted.

I hope they don't wait until a cop's wife or child is killed before changing that policy.

sadly i think that is what it is going to take. why not use rotating numbers?

did anybody watch the aclu lawyer last nite? i never saw the results of his coaching. guess we will have to wait and see if they find a judge today.

Earlier reports said he was off duty. Was he stalked or followed and they knew he was a cop? Or was this a random fwy shooting?

eta:

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A St. Louis City police officer was shot at early Sunday morning on Interstate 70. According to police, the officer came in contact with three males in a car. At some point, the suspects fired shots at the officer and the officer fired back.

The officer was hit by glass. The suspect fled the scene in a black Dodge Charger. Authorities say they had multiple weapons and a rifle.

The officer was taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Authorities are searching for the suspects.

I hope this wasn't the officer who's picture was tweeted yesterday as "the one who started the scuffle"! I also wonder if that tweet, I believe from Chapelle, telling people to stay home was a warning about this? Such a sad state of affairs! JMO

I watched the ACLU lawyers instructions to the protesters last night. It was amazing to me that that it was the first and last time I heard the protesters shut up and listen to anyone trying to talk to anyone. Of course when it came to following through to help their cause it fell on deaf ears. The only thing they didn't do was bring in the noise makers. They still threatened the police officers and their families. Didn't leave when they were told to. Crossed over to the police side of the road antagonisIng officers. Yep, I'm sure law enforcement has some good footage to show any judge.

Heavy heart this morning :( I went to bed knowing the officer shot in the arm would survive and woke up hearing about an off duty officer being shot at while driving.

I've never seen the level of depravity that I saw last night from the protesters. Sickening. And then now reading twitter, they are still being obscene and paranoid.

I'm off to take my boys to a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. If nothing else, watching the live feeds of the protests has prepared me for the noise level :giggle:

Maybe things will tamp down today. Cards are hoping Pirates lose to the Reds today; otherwise, they'll meet in St. Louis for a one game playoff on Wednesday. The Ferguson mess isn't on everyone's radar, not even in MO. Gov. Nixon is probably hiding under his bed with his blankie.

I thought it was the same guy? Are there now TWO officers that were hurt?

Ferguson officer shot in arm by burglary suspect. Another area cop injured by flying window glass after miscreants shot at him while he was driving home.

The second shooting was an off duty officer, not in uniform, just driving his car on I-70. He wasn't hit by gunfire, but wounded by broken glass.

I'm very glad he said that, even if it was an understatement.

It's going to take a lot to convince me that these were coincidental.

JMO, but there were so many hints that something was going to go down last night. I won't try to list them - you all probably could do it better.

But two that bugged me were 1.the way screamer put off of the meeting until today instead of saying Saturday was OK... But the things were ready yesterday. And 2. the tweet by her(?) that says something like "OK, everyone, it's starting now," as soon as she saw all the cop cars racing up the street.

What is that group's name? Lost... Something. (my mind is numb)

I think most of the prots are foul, willing tools of these others.

Where was Umar? Shahid?

Lost Voices, isn't it?

I am disgusted with this as well but pretty much have lost my sympathy for the police. Consider the fact they let that really bad guy go last night and he had warrants.

At this point they are pretty much condoning the behavior.

They seem to have their hands tied up real tight when it comes to any of this. I bet they had to let them go. Possibly higher ups got wind of it since it happened live. Officers may have been called and said no dice let them go we do not need this right now.

I'm thinking that relates to the protestors' stated desire to take pictures of the officers and their name tags, and Anonymous dox'ing various LE, officials, even Wilson's neighbors.

Some shootings info and Faraci's info at GotNews, including "Ferguson protestors called for all concealed weapons carrier to show up and shut Faraci’s Pizza down, the police officer said."

So sad reading the comments. Not a one praying for the speedy recovery of either officer. Not a one condemning the actions of several people shooting at LEOs. But there are certainly plenty of finger pointing and questions. Why was the officer at the community center? Why did they call it a burglary? Why did the police report come out so quickly and MB never got one? And of course...one person asking sadly about the reports of imaginary dead boy shot by police? They were SO hoping to have another dead kid to riot over, but instead, looks like just another quiety Sunday.

Is it possible the Attorney General resigning may have had nothing to do with Ferguson?

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news...lder-for-acting-on-his-own-oks-less/?page=all

Moreover, Mr. Holder had infuriated federal prosecutors by not waiting for the Sentencing Commission’s approval.

“We do not join with others who regard our federal justice system as ‘broken’ or in need of major reconstruction,” the National Association of U.S. Assistant Attorneys said in a letter to Mr. Holder in January. “Instead we consider the current federal mandatory minimum sentence framework well constructed and worth preserving.”

Mr. Holder’s decision to act before the independent agency’s decision has led many on Capitol Hill to question executive overreach.

“The attorney general’s directive, along with contradicting an act of Congress, puts his own front-line drug prosecutors in the unenviable position of either defying their boss or violating their oath of candor to the court,” Rep. Bob Goodlatte, Virginia Republican and chairman of the House Committee on the Judiciary, said Tuesday. “Over the last year, we have all witnessed an extraordinary level of executive overreach by the Obama administration. Time after time, this president has pushed the limits on executive power beyond their constitutional boundaries.”

From link. Could be. He has so many controversies brewing. On the other hand, I can see him and this Administration using Ferguson as a jumping off point for more control and executive action. Guess we'll find out. I do think it's telling the protestors and the family seem to feel he was "on their side". Some think he was removed by the grand white conspiracy, some think he was a turncoat, some think he saw the handwriting on the wall that the fix was in for Wilson and quit in disgust, per many tweets.

I thought from the very beginning that Ferguson, if even on this list, is WAY down the list of reasons for Holder's resigning. That man is up to his eyeballs in scandal. Ferguson isn't even on his radar. He just threw them a bone on this whole thing and pretty much walked away from it.

I can see it being a final straw kind of thing, though. On top of everything else, the top cop in the nation steps forward and sides with ruffians against LE. That, IMO, was reason enough for him to be removed. But, considering everything else, it may have just been the nail in his coffin, so to speak.

I have stopped reading comments and listening to the protesters ( yes all of them ) b/c they seem to fit in with one of these categories
Completely ignorant to the facts of anything from MB shooting to what is happening daily.
Even though they hear the facts they do not believe it b/c of their hatred..
They just want to be angry at something so they are using MB death as a way to be angry. Some of those who want to be angry are letting this shield their criminal ways.
