I have nothing but the upmost respect for law enforcement, it's a thankless & dangerous job.
Until such time there is actual evidence against the officer in this case....I'll continue to staunchly support & defend him.

I get a little tired of sofa riders acting as if they understand what a deadly threat is and suggesting an officer in a life or death situation should somehow be able to access and subdue a criminal in a split second... Or shoot em in the ankle.

You are posting things as fact which have not been verified. So far as far as I know his body has not been ordered a lethal weapon. We don't know he assaulted the LEO in the face and struggled for a weapon, i in fact don't believe he did

We had a long discussion about this the other night, and unfortunately, I can't find the posts. However, the gist of it is this: He would have been charged with robbery in the second degree, which is a felony. Of course his body wasn't "ordered a lethal weapon" but, he did in fact (on video and with a witness) forcibly rob a gas station of a $50 box of blunts. He shoved and otherwise assaulted the shopkeeper, during the robbery. That's why it's robbery in the second (which is the same thing as strong-arm robbery, strong-arm is more of a colloquialism). Had he had a weapon stronger than his body, it would have been armed robbery. However, robbery in the 2nd is no joke: It carries hefty prison sentences, and although it is a probationable offense, but the likelihood of that happening is something we'll never know (his juvie record, if any, would play into it, and since we don't know that, we can't really say whether or not he would have gotten an easy ride w/ probation.)

JMO

ETA: Source for my claim that he would have been charged w/ robbery in the 2nd/aka strong-arm robbery, is the Newsweek article.

listen I didn't say BOLO was the reason, I said exactly what you said above. After the officer heard the BOLO he backed up because he noticed the clothing, then the cigars...SMH

I don't believe you are correct. The officer left the "sick" call when he learned about the liquor store robbery. He already knew cigars were taken when he encountered the pair walking in the street. It was their refusal to move that captured his attention. He then saw the cigars. I don't know when he got the BOLO during that sequence but it would have simply confirmed what he already suspected after spotting the cigars. The sad irony is that if Brown and Johnson had complied with his request, he may have driven right on past and not noticed the cigars and Brown would still be alive.

If I was a police officer in Ferguson.
I'd turn in my badge & quit. It just isn't worth it.

They all might do just that. The way this has been handled has put them in a very dangerous situation. I don't know how they could possibly feel safe doing their jobs after this. The Gov. and Capt. Johnson have placed the entire force in danger and thrown them all under the bus. I hope they have a police union representing them.

True, but Wilson hadn't seen it yet.

But he heard the BOLO, of a robbery at the minimart. And if he was hit in the face, and fighting over the gun, then he would have known MB was danger.

I still can't get over the absolute irony of the comments some of the protesters made on Friday night, complaining about why didn't LE do their jobs and stop the looters when, for the past week, large numbers of the protesters were complaining and yelling and outraged about LE's attempts to restore law and order - and these were the peaceful protesters claiming that LE had overstepped their bounds!

There were many protesters, as well as MSM bobble heads, who insisted that if LE would stand down, that there would be no violence - they blamed the violence on LE's presence.

On the one hand: "How dare they come into our neighborhood with their SWAT teams and tear gas and orders to disperse!!!"

Then, when they were ordered on Friday, August 15th to stand down by Captain Johnson, and the neighborhood businesses were looted and vandalized: "Why didn't they protect & serve???"

The irony is indeed rich.

JMO but I think it is a bit worse even. The outrage started the afternoon of the shooting and the protests started that night. Throw truth and justice right out the window.

On the live feed... what does that sign mean? We want his real name. huh?

Isn't it though..

Instead of showing their children how to behave and expecting them to follow the law they advocate for the criminals ......

I don't want to hear or see any whining ...if law enforcement comes down with an epidemic case of the Blue Flu!!!!

I agree. Just think of the living hell that Officer Wilson (and his family!) is being put through. These (mostly white) officers put their lives on the line every day to protect that town and I haven't seen any expressions of gratitude from Ferguson's black community for the work that they do. If the situation was bad for these officers before it is impossible now they are under the direction of Capt. Johnson who threw Officer Wilson under the bus with his apology to the Brown family today.
