Sorry all if this has been answered, but just a few ? to catch me up:

- Is it true that Johnson (MB's friend that day) has indeed changed his account to more closely mirror the officer's account?
- Is the GJ hearing this today?

Thx!

We have not heard anything more about if MB's friend changed his account
GJ is today link to an article up thread says they may not be finished presenting till mid Oct.

I do wonder if the friend did change his story in favor of the cop would the GJ be needed till mid Oct for this case. Or will the motions all still need to play out due to all the drama surrounding the case.

my husband had this injury. we are talking plates and pins to rebuild his eye socket.

It obviously can be a very serious injury, and I read on one site that it could mean permanent damage.

What happens if the shooting is deemed justified, and Wilson can't even return to the force b/c of permanent damage?

Can you link this please? I haven't heard that.

Brown's mother, Lesley McSpadden, said she didn't understand why police didn't subdue her high school graduate son with a club or stun gun, and that the officer involved should be fired and prosecuted.
"I would like to see him go to jail with the death penalty," she said, fighting back tears."

Catching up so this might have already been linked.

Intimidation of the grand jurors.

That didn't even occur to me until I ran into your post.
If that is the case the "protesters" should not be permitted to be anywhere near the courthouse. This is so out of control.

I hope Johnson is telling the truth. And if MB did assault the officer, and Johnson is now admitting that, I've gotta give Johnson some props for doing what's right. He's going to catch a lot of heat from the community if he is backing the officer and I'm sure he's scared to death. I wish he was honest from the get go, but thumbs up for finally being honest.

A young friend had this injury also. The whole side of his face swelled, turned red, and his eye was swollen shut. He was like that for two days before he went to the emergency room. Fortunately, no bones were badly broken, although his face is tender and eyesight still a bit blurry.

You know when you are called to testify to the GJ you don't know who else will be testifying and if you lie and your story is different from the others something ain't right with your version of events. That could be a problem. Maybe just maybe testifying will scare the truth out of them.

I see some posts regarding the mother. For clarification and to make sure I follow the TOS, are we permitted to discuss the family? I guess what I will do for now is "thank" the posts and check in to see what's what.
BTW, good morning all. :)

Some people will still say he shouldn't have shot him 6 times. Just had this converstion with a friend of mine, and she cannot get it through her head that a big guy don't go down/stop coming atcha too quick. She deals emotionally, I deal with facts and law. We have much different ingrained thought patterns. The beauty of it is we can still be friends and love each other despite the differences. Too bad the whole world isn't like that.

My opinion only

Maybe as the governor of MO, but I read the other day he wants to run as VP under Clinton. If she wants him, his move to do this could be at the direction of the Clinton Machine.

I highly doubt this, personally. He just shot himself in the foot and HC won't touch him. JMV

McCulloch: Grand jury to consider Ferguson case through mid-October http://bit.ly/YzxY1Y

If it's like in GA and it's a St Louis County gj, not a statewide gj, they may only meet every few weeks. I read yesterday that this gj has been "sitting" since before MB died and their normal stint extends several more weeks. I hope the law doesn't require them to be replaced by a new panel, particularly one hand-picked to be sympathetic to a particular side.

Trying again. He tweeted the denial last night I believe.

Thank you for the update. I don't think he'll get it though, pretty tough to unseal juvenile records. However, I was reading this yesterday...

http://www.moga.mo.gov/statutes/c200-299/2110000321.htm

Can anyone here get past the legalese ?

It starts off stating that pretty much sealed is sealed, but then there are a number of exceptions.

If I'm understanding it correctly, which I have no idea if I am, an adjudicated juvenile appears to fall under the exception category? In particular there are references to: "child with an offense which, if committed by an adult, would be a class A felony under the criminal code of Missouri, or capital murder, first degree murder, or second degree murder or except as provided in subsection 2 of this section."

(2) After a child has been adjudicated delinquent pursuant to subdivision (3) of subsection 1 of section 211.031, for an offense which would be a felony if committed by an adult, the records of the dispositional hearing and proceedings related thereto shall be open to the public to the same extent that records of criminal proceedings are open to the public. However, the social summaries, investigations or updates in the nature of presentence investigations, and status reports submitted to the court by any treating agency or individual after the dispositional order is entered shall be kept confidential and shall be opened to inspection only by order of the judge of the juvenile court

Anyone with legal expertise weighing in would be greatly appreciated.

FWIW

Adjudication of Delinquency
Definition: A juvenile court judge’s determination as to whether or not a youth committed a delinquent offense. A juvenile adjudication is like an adult criminal conviction, but generally does not subject the youth to the same direct and collateral consequences.

Mods, if I shouldn't post this question, please modify as you feel appropriate :)

Per FOX..LE have heard about plans to kill a cop.

I haven't commented on this topic at all... but I have been following along.

This is what I have been afraid of. Some will want an officers head over this (and it doesn't matter which one), won't be happy until an officer loses their life. That will feel like "justice" to some. Sad, very very sad.

I hope the law doesn't require them to be replaced by a new panel, particularly one hand-picked to be sympathetic to a particular side.

The Grand Jury is composed of twelve citizens who are chosen at random by a circuit judge, who presides over the Grand Jury. A new Grand Jury is chosen for each of the three Terms of Court held each year. Since the St. Louis County Grand Jury meets every Wednesday during the term, a Grand Juror can expect to serve approximately sixteen to twenty days during that period.

I am hoping they aren't brand new.

RE: If the first 4 bullets don't take the attacker down then you have to keep shooting. Why blame the cop for shooting 6 times ?

And for some reason being 64 and 300 lb does not seem to alter notions about this either

My hubby (ex federal law enforcement) said, "they went to a smaller caliber to appease the anti-gun freaks. Watch, they'll go right back to a 40 or 45 cal because of the claims of 'excessive force'. They don't understand that the whole point for using a 40 or 45 cal to begin with is to stop the threat so that you don't have to empty your piece in the suspect."

I'll answer the question before it's asked- no, we don't know what caliber was used. We do, however, know that it was a smaller caliber because a 40 or 45 would have blown the lower half of the arm off or, at the very least, part of his hand- most likely the former.
