That's what I thought too, but if you look again, there appears to be a second register towards the left where UG (unknown guy) is paying. I really just think he happened to be at the staore at the same time- he comes walking from the left side of the store in the video and up to the counter so he was there before the two came in. imo

That's not the original video that was first shown, but a subsequent one now "cropped" to eliminate the unknown guy's entrance just before MB came in. In the original video, UG came in, stopped several paces inside with the door still in view, and stared up at something to his left. Next scene is MB entering with DJ close behind, but iirc no sign of UG. UG reappears in the back of the pic as MB shown at the counter grabbing/dropping cigars, with DJ standing behind him looking on. UG sees the theft in progress and moseys out of the store, holding the door open for no discernible "innocent" reason imo.

"If his grandma said go upstairs, he went. He was respectful," recalled neighbor Kevin Seltzer, 30. "He didn't bother people. That's why the community here in Ferguson, the real community of Canfield, we're upset now."

Brown stayed at Canfield with friends and, earlier this year, with his grandmother at the adjacent Northwinds apartments. He had just graduated from nearby Normandy High School — no small achievement here.

He was heavyset and quiet, but not shy. He recorded rap music with his best friend and smoked marijuana with other young men.

BBM

I'm sure the small storekeeper would disagree.

And probably Officer Wilson

I just have to stop by to mention that a donation site for Officer Wilson appears to be collecting hundreds of dollars per hour. Just short of $225K.

I suppose there are a number of ways to interpret that level of activity.

I find that rather interesting. I'm glad Officer Wilson is getting a show of support, even as he continues, IMO, to be lynched in the media and on the streets, and his side of the story has yet to be told. He will need every penny for legal expenses and living expenses, with what has been done to him and his life. IMO. :moo:

Remember Shanesha Taylor, the woman in Arizona who left her 6 month old and 2 year old boys in a sweltering hot car in 90 degree temps, in direct sunlight, while she went to a job interview? People donated $114K to her for, IMO, abusing her children, based only on a teary eyed mug shot picture.

Interesting what brings out people to donate money, and how they choose their causes.

Much of the reporting based on unnamed sources "close to the investigation" reminds me of the child's game of gossip where a particular statement is whispered one to another around a circle. I don't believe it makes much difference whether officer Wilson has a fracture or merely took a punch. What's more telling is the struggle for the weapon, but that scenario could also have several spins. This is going to come down to whether or not it is believable that officer Wilson thought that he and the community were in imminent and/or grave danger. That will be a judgement call, and those who feel police routinely use excessive force and those who believe police routinely risk their lives in hostile environments aren't likely to agree. I'd like to think there will be a fair conclusion, but whatever that conclusion is, I suspect many will not be satisfied that justice has been served. All MOO

Great catch DebinGA. I had noticed another guy previously and assumed he was just another customer. I never even noticed that he held the door open for MB.

Who the heck is it?

I don't know, but there's no doubt he was with MB/DJ into and out of the store imo, and he doesn't seem to have committed a crime. I wish we could watch the original video released the day Chief Jackson came out and gave out the press packets and bravely released the video over the objections Gov. Nixon/the feds.

Source B said the x-ray showed no blow out. They may have done a CT scan. jmo

No, not "may have" done a CT-- IMO, they definitely did a CT. It's absolutely standard of care in that kind of injury. The only reason to do a "plain film" (but now digital) xray is to clear the c-spine.

That said, many lay people colloquially call every diagnostic image an "x-ray".

ETA: Another example of a common injury that needs CT evaluation emergently is a "punch in the nose" or nose trauma. In addition to the potential for facial fractures in that type of injury, there is a little thin area behind called the cribiform plate. If it's damaged, there is direct access to the brain. There are so many delicate structures in the face that the only way to evaluate emergently is a CT. Yes, definitely OW would have had one. In addition to lots of other care and documentation of his injuries. These were unquestionably sustained while on the job, so the documentation will be thorough, IMO.

Doing it right.

As Plainfield mother grieves for her murdered son, community calls for action against violence
PLAINFIELD — Twenty-year-old Dearn Marcano worked two jobs, trying to save up enough to buy his mother a house. He’d been working almost two years at FedEx and had taken on another position at Home Depot, putting money toward his goal and contributing to charity each week. “...

So sad :( He grew up in a single family, probably near poverty level, worked hard at 2 jobs just to be killed by 🤬🤬🤬🤬 on the streets.

I hope they find his killer.

I don't disagree with you, I am just saying I have seen blowouts quite a few times before and to ME it appeared officer Wilson did not look like he had just suffered one. And I was right. Forget about it. It's in the past. It's over now. He did not have a fracture. Doesn't mean much other than we are being fed a load of crap by those involved.

Orbital blowouts frequently occur INSIDE the skull and the bone UNDER the eye socket is blown out, NOT the external skull bone you can feel on your face, but the thin shelf of bone that supports the eyeball from beneath.

That is fair enough, I will do the same. However it does show us what is really happening here... There are unnamed sources lying to support a certain narrative. A lot of irresponsible journalism going on with this case.

You'll get no argument from me about that!

So much support! There's also a peaceful protest at a cop bar in south City tomorrow & Sunday -- I'll be there tomorrow! And if you'd like to know where, let me know (but you can find it on FB)

Due process & innocent until proven guilty & all that jazz . . . I'm embarrassed for those who want immediate justice in My Metro Area (since I live in the City)! This is America, remember?

Looters? eh, losers & always will be IMHO

Protesters? yeah - it's our Constitutional Right to Freedom of Assembly!

eh, I don't think there's a meth epidemic in Ferguson (IMHO different demographic that uses meth v crack/cocaine/heroin/weed/purple drank). Meth is mainly in the more rural areas in MO again, IMHO or in the "white" (trash) areas again IMHO

With all due respect K_Z, I really think the term "lynched" could be substituted with a more accurate and appropriate term in light of the circumstances being discussed here. Whatever you may think about the media's coverage of Darren Wilson, I can assure you that it does not even come close to the equivalent of being "lynched."

RE: "Interesting what brings out people to donate money, and how they choose their causes."

<modsnip> I hope Darren Wilson recognizes that, by accepting their money, he is also accepting, approving of, and advancing their views. JMO ~

The moment Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson shot an unarmed teenager, a 25-year-old Supreme Court case became the prism through which his actions will be legally judged.

To most people, an 18-year-old unarmed man may not appear to pose a deadly threat. But a police officer’s perspective is different. And that is how an officer should be judged after the fact, Chief Justice William Rehnquist wrote in the 1989 opinion.

The Supreme Court case, decided at a time when violence against police was on the rise, has shaped the national legal standards that govern when police officers are justified in using force. The key question about Wilson’s killing on Aug. 9 is whether a reasonable officer with a similar background would have responded the same way.

I don't believe it serves any purpose for the state Senator (the one with the wig) to predict that if there is not a GJ indictment and subsequent conviction there will be more violence and "we will be back at square one". To me she is only fanning the fire. She was on with DL so I don't have a link.
