No one said that. But personalky, no matter what the law says regarding use of force, I don't think any unarmed suspect bee has to be gunned down in order to be taken into custody. Period.

But to the larger point - What *I* would like ( I won't speak for others) is for people to realize that the issue being protested is NOT just MB. And that it is a legitimate, historical, and unaddressed issue in many places. I said some nights ago that some jurisdictions have gone a long way in recent years to restructure themselves, investigate themselves, to root out systemic corruption and bias. Those places that have not done so MUST do so. Or this side will keep happening.

For those who have been saying how tired hey are of hearing about racial issues - maybe this is the way to stop hearing about it. Listen to what your fellow human beings are telling you; acknowledge - don't dismiss- their experiences, and join in helping make things better.

UNFORTUNATELY..

I have to agree I don't think it matters what issue someone of any color as a Caucasian you are made to feel uncomfortable about discussing the subject or giving your opinion under the canopy of not understanding. Do I think all racial bias is eradicated? No. But I find that many of the issues that are clothed with racism are in fact universal and not about race but CHARACTER!

As a nation we've changed so much in regard to respecting others, self reliance and self respect. I would have never disrespected a teacher, an adult or anyone in authority as a kid, young adult heck even now I still won't drink alcohol in front of my parents lol.

But for some time children have had free pass to disrespect others and themselves they've grown up and raising children even more disrespectful. I think it's more socio-economic, the disappearance of morals, lack of manners and blatant disregard for others which is magnified in homes where parents are not united in their parenting. My parents divorced when I was 10yrs old and they hated each other but instead of using us against each other they found a way to unite for our benefit.

But I don't know when you try to bring attention to social issues that start in the home not racial you get lip service about Ozzy & Harriet, not everyone has both parents in home, or one parent doesn't participate or that so ann so kid did xyz and they are (insert respected career). Instilling values in your children may not solve all the world's problems but probably make a huge dent.

And to those who say it's cultural thing as justification for negative behavior I call BS remember once upon a time it was American culture for women to not be able to vote or acceptable that her husband hits her. JMHO

I wanted to give your post more than just the click of a thanks button!

It really can be that simple. Raise your children to be respectful no matter what your circumstance and teach personal responsibility.

It is hard to accept the riots are NOT about MB, when people like the local senator say that if there is no indictment, then the entire area will be looted. And the parents say they will accept nothing other than a prosecution and a guilty verdict.

So I agree there are racial issues nationwide. But it appears this city is being held hostage by this incident. jmo

Let's not forget that MB's mother called for the death penalty for the LEO. (refer to links regarding what the family/mother have stated). I cannot express how much this upsets me.

What is also so very upsetting to me, is that according to some of the news stories I have read; these people (the family) could potentially sue the police department and others all in the name of civil rights. Civil rights? How about the right of the LEO to defend himself? What about him? The true victim in this incident. Makes me so darn mad.

I haven't provided links to support my opinion, however, they are all over this forum. I will provide links if anyone asks me to.

This cop is not an idiot. He would never say his gun went off first in the car if it was not true. He would KNOW that could be easily corroborated forensically, imo.

I agree 100%

Why do you think they are "not so savvy"?

I feel a majority of people aren't savvy when it comes to certain aspects of the laws.

I wasn't until I started following cases here. I've learned a ton and continue to every day.

We have the best of the best here! :loveyou:

Was chief Belmar there when this went down? If this is what FBI has concluded from their investigation then I will feel as though most of the story is coming together.... My guess is that this is part of Wilson's story which may or may not be true... But let's not forget he is under investigation right now so his story needs to be corroborated somehow by someone or some piece of evidence... Something.

Guess you missed the witness captured on another guys video as Brown laid in the street...that guys version lined up EXACTY with Officer Wilson's.

Dorian Johnson also reported MB curled into a fetal position on the ground. And we know that's not true from all of the pictures of the victim at the scene that are available. With head injuries such as we know of now, the victim would not be physically able, or conscious, and able to curl into a fetal position, then "uncurl" into the position he was found and photographed in by so many. IMO, pretty much every single bit of the description given from DJ has been shown to be incorrect. He is simply not credible. If he said the sky was blue, I'd look out the window to see for myself. He's a terrible witness, and not at all credible, IMO, due to his own words, as well as his lies, story changing, his own criminal history, outstanding warrant, etc.

Oh wow. I missed that tidbit.

I think Mr. Johnson has watched too many movies.

Can you imagine if he tries to testifies? Good heavens, they'll eat him alive on the stand

For the love of God! Why can't people just tell the freaking truth???!! Why is that so hard??!! :gaah:

That's kind of funny since yesterday there was also a source saying there was a broken eye socket. I wonder if Gateway Pundit retracted what their source said yesterday. I checked earlier and they had not.

CNN, Dr. Drew, banner saying, "source: Officer's eye socket not broken". ???

So here's the deal. Black people have in the past, and continue to be, harassed by cops in a way white people who appear to be affluent never have been. (I say this, although my son was bodyslammed by a cop for saying "what are my rights here?" and another one of my sons was cited for underage drinking when it was clear he did NOT drink and he had to pay $500 in emergency room fees to produce a blood alcohol level of 0% to the court). By and large, white people are treated with respect, and by and large black people are often not. I'm still reeling from this incident last summer in Brazoria county, where two black young women were given pelvics on the side of the road by a cop who didn't even change gloves between anal and vaginal searches of the two girls, turning up nothing although he believed he smelled marijuana in the car. GOOD GOD. There is NO WAY this would have been done to a couple of blonde girls with a Kappa sticker on their car. Link below.

But the thing is, in this case, it appears this officer was clean as can be, and he was defending his life against a very violent young man who might have actually killed him had he not been stopped by gunfire. The cause itself - to work for better treatment of blacks by LE - is valid, but in this case, it doesn't apply at all. I hope and pray that the grand jury feels free to listen to the truth is allowed to win out and people will finally allow DW to continue his life in peace.

Jeanna I just wanted to say that that sucks what happened to your son. It's wrong and it shouldn't happen to anyone. It happens to whites more and more as well as blacks and Hispanics. It is unfortunate for everyone when this kind of misuse of force/authority happens.

I am kind of at a loss, honestly, because as a progressive I often find that the overuse of force by police is a common ground between me and conservative friends and relatives - not that you are one, I don't know - but the forums here tend to skew heavily right. I guess I am surprised to see that there are are so few others who will give the side-eye to the heavily armed branch of government that is LE. In real life, off the boards, most of the conservatives/libertarians I know are skeptical of the protestors, but are more skeptical of LE and the overuse of force, and against the militarization of police that has been seen in recent years. You say the cause itself is valid, but does lot apply in this case - I would ask only that you consider how it could be a "last straw". Because misuse of authority and force happens against both actual criminals and innocent folks as well.

I share your disgust with the searches of the two young women. Awful. Women's bodies - bit especially black women's bodies - are aomehow always seen as free game. Awful.

from what has been released so far, IMHO Officer Wilson was defending himself; does anyone but Officer Wilson's friends who have spoken to the media know WHY MB was shot according to Officer Wilson?

If one believes Dorian Johnson, DW became enraged when MB valiantly escaped being forcibly pulled into the police cruiser ... through the driver's side window ... across DW's lap .... via DW's left hand reaching out and grabbing hold of 6'4" MB's huge neck ... as he stood next to the car.

in my opinion, he was being very divisive. He was elevating her level of grief by 10x. Saying her experience was ten times another parent's experience would be, in viewing THEIR child at the morgue. I was questioning his purpose or his reasoning, for making that distinction. Is her grief 10x the level of a parent of a leukemia victim or a car accident or a serial killer? I don't understand WHY the attorney added that 10x the grief into his statement.

They want it to seem far worse then what anyone can ever dream of. They want sympathy.

Sorry....Im many post back. Busy day night so far.

Maybe MB was a 🤬🤬🤬🤬.. Maybe it is his fault he was shot... What I am saying is there are many possibilities and it sure as he'll is not out of the question or unprecedented that a cop was the over aggressive instigator...
And Dorian said the door hit them and bounced back at Wilson.. At no point did he or any eye witness say MB attacked the cop.... These are all just assumptions

Are you saying that you believe Dorian's account of what happened?
I'm not trying to cause trouble and I am asking my question, kindly and with respect.

  • #398
For sure, if you see someone get shot on the back of the body, I am sure you don't know exactly where the bullet entered so you just assume it went into the back. The point is, this witness is saying he was shot while walking AWAY from the officer. And then turned around and was fed with another 5 or so bullets...

I see what you're saying but, MB fell on his stomach. He had on a light colored shirt. If he had received a shot in the back, there would be something visible to indicate that. KWIM>

This statement is exactly what this is all about. Everyone's experience is different . Some have had family members and themselves suffer lifetimes of harassment by police. While others have family who are police and know them as good people and heroes even and they are scared for their lives every time they walk out the door to work.
How can we we bridge these contrasting differences... How can we feel compassion for both of these contrasting stories. Because they are both true..... And right now it is true, true as can be, that officer Wilson is respectable cop and wonderful person... And it is also true about MB the "friendly giant" we all heard about the first couple days ... Both of these stories are true to those close to these two different people. Why can't we just have compassion for both sides and wait for the truth to come out. If we have learned anything about this whole mess it is that people are willing to lie with conviction for what they believe in.
I say wait for the truth before you judge.
