tonight while in the car. I know it was MSNBC, think it was the Ed Schultz show. But it was one of the MO politicians, a woman, didn't catch the name as I was switching around SIRIUS stations (I do want to find this-they must post transcripts) talking about why they want the DA removed. It was a lot about the DA being close to police which I've heard before.

But the one idea I was astounded at, was that the DA was biased because he has put lots of black people in jail. That just struck me as the most absurd statment ever, simply beyond ridiculous. He's the DA. That's what he does-that's basically all he does, that's the whole point of having a DA. To prosecute criminals and put them in jail. All kinds and colors of people. That's the actual reason to have a DA. I'm sure since he's been in office for 24 years, re-elcted by the people, he has put many black people in jail and many white people and many people of various other races and ethnicities. It's not like she's saying he has put "innocent" black people in jail-she doesn't talk about their guilt or innocence, just their color.

The DA is elected. If he's as bad and widely disliked as some people are saying, use the democratic process to replace him. He just won another primary by 30 points.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/21/us/st-louis-county-prosecutor-defends-objectivity.html?_r=0

I did just check and they only have transcripts up to Wednesday so far.

I was looking at some of the statements from State Sen. Jamilah Nasheed to see if it was her who said the above and if she repeated it elsewhere. I didn't see that statement but she made some others. One that sounds like a threat and displays her ignorance of the justice system and she actually put in writing:http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/st-louis-prosecutor-has-faced-controversy-for-decades/article_cdd4c104-6086-506e-9ee8-aa957a31fee5.html

That's just irresponsible. DA's don't indict and elected officials should not essentially threaten rioting because a police officer is going to receive due process. The police officer is actually the one the justice system is required to be fair to. Our system is all about fairness for an accused or defendant. You can't change that just because of the color of the person shot.

I also find it just as wrong for her to try and speak for all black people as it is when others treat the black community as some kind of monolith. She has no right to speak for all black people and tell the whole world that black people will riot if something doesn't go the way some black people and some white people and some other kinds of people want it to.

She's an outrage, and I find her embarrassing, and just as embarrassing is that not one of her peers is calling her out for it.

The second image has the backup police car in the pic, behind MB - I saw that car pull up and park like that shortly after the shooting in the Mike Brady interview where they played his footage toward beginning of the interview.

These are links to different views of the scene. (Mods- they are direct links to the images.)

I am not considered to be a naive person. I have been shocked at the liberal use of that phrase during the live stream of the protestors in Ferguson.
That phrase was used when protestors were talking to each other or to news reporters

I think so. JMO

Yoda, you should post your image links in the media thread, or let me know and I will do it.

Some comments on the witnesses and their videos...

Brady's is the earliest video, note the LE SUV next to the body when the video starts. Car parks diagonally to the east of Brown's body and that car is shown in that spot in the rest of the photos and videos. My guess is the SUV next to the body was the second responder, the two cops in Brady's video and Piaget's newer video are Wilson and the first responder.

Wilson was cleared from the sick call at 12:00:00. Disturbance call from shooting was time stamped 12:01:50. Wilson likely took one minute to get from Glenark to 2947 Canfield, a trip of a half mile. Thus, this incident took place over the course of 50 seconds or less from start to finish. First responder on scene after Wilson was at 12:02:22, I think that is the cop on foot in Brady's video. According to the event report from the document dump, the second responder arrived on scene at 12:10:29. If the SUV next to the body was the second responder at 12:10, then Brady's video is 8-9 minutes after the shooting, Piaget's videos are later than that, as is Black Canseco's.

So, Brady's video might be the earliest one, but I question why it took two witnesses who saw the tussle (note everyone seems to call it the same thing...maybe tussle is a uber common term in the black community) and the shooting eight minutes to video the scene. I have no idea what they saw, but based on what I see out of the data available to us, I doubt any saw the shooting or the tussle. One more note...is that Tiffany Mitchell walking on the sidewalk talking on the phone in Brady's video? LOL

Note: You know the area where Black Canseco shot his video from. That's a driveway to more apartments, Dorian Johnson lives literally a football field from where Black Canseco was standing. Think Dorian and Piaget know each other by chance? In the least, think any of these witnesses overheard one another talking in the street afterwards?

Good boy in a bad 'hood: Mike Mike, as the family called him (pictured with brother A, now 7 and sister D, now 14) had won a place at college and was told by his mother to 'do what he wanted this summer' as a reward. He chose to stay at his grandmother's house where the aspiring rapper had a makeshift studio

SNIP

They slammed the release of footage of Michael taking part in a strong-arm robbery just moments before the fatal shooting as unrelated and the 'smokescreen' of racism, but the aggressor it reveals cannot be forgotten once seen.

So who was Michael Brown before he became the face of a cause to champion or a name to slur?

SNIP

For much of his childhood his mother Lesley McSpadden, 34, was a single mother. His biological father Mike Brown Sr, 36, was in and out of his life. According to family, in recent years that relationship had strengthened as Mike Sr remarried and Michael became very close to his stepmother.

Michael, along with his siblings D, 13, A, 7 and J, 5, was raised in a sprawling patchwork of family, replete with the male role models his mother pushed for him to have.

SNIP

An indication of just how tough is the fact that Michael spent time in the school's credit recovery program so that he could graduate. But the fact that he did was an achievement and, as far as his family were concerned, it was the first step towards something better.

Eric said, 'His mom said to him, “Okay. You've done the thing I really pushed for you to do so go ahead. Whatever you want to do, this is your summer to do that.'

Michael had already enrolled in Vatterott Technical College to study heating and air-conditioning engineering and was due to start classes last week. His cousin Anthony Livingston was trying to get him a job at the Family Dollar store where he was a manager.

ETA I have been waiting for more info on MB and his upbringing to give me an idea of who he was and were he came from. I am not posting this because I think He was guiltless or guilty. I am interested in what dynamics went into the day the shooting occurred. I am glad to know more about this young man and his life before that day.

I wish Michael Brown hadn't done what he did that day. I'm sure the officer feels the same way with the news that's out there, plus just killing another person. Gosh, I hope all are getting help.

If MB planned on college, why would he rob a store owner for cigarellos? It's just not what you would do if your path was college? jmo Why would he punch a cop or defy one? Why be so bully like? I can't get past this.

The wounds, amount of bullets, trajectory plus residue on clothing should put his death in better perspective. Witness statements too. It will be drawn out in order to reduce impact. jmo

Can you imagine, knowing what you saw but because you speak up, the defense will rake you up like coals if you have any background they can find? oy vey...so I'll sit back. Oct. sounds like a good time to try it again.

Thanks Boytwnmom! Hope all is well.

My apologies, but I forget which transcript it is from. I think it is the scribd.
DJ says there were three cars stopped because they could not get by the police car. He hid behind one. He also asked that people/person in the car if they would let him get in and drive him away. He said they wouldn't. (In the transcript he said "they", so I am assuming there was more than one person in the car.)
DJ also said he ran home because he feared for his life. At home, he threw up.

So if left of hat is SUV, MB was behind that, I'm going to guesstimate that street crime scene was about half a block or so. Tape to tape seems like not too much distance to me.

  • #176
I think that is Wilson's SUV next to the hat, the distance between the hat and Mike body is over 100 feet per the legend on Google maps.

One other thing...super bizarre coincidence...Google Maps 2947 Canfield Dr. Ferguson, Mo and hit street view. Click your screen and drag to right so you can look up Canfield. See the light standard on the left side? Click the street in a spot even with that light standard. Click and drag to the right to look in that parking lot. What do you see?

WHITE MONTE CARLO! Given the bizarre nature of this, I can only assume the owner of that car is Keyser Soze. :D

I dont believe MB did any of that, laughing at the whole he attacked the officer and tried to reach to kill him LOL. If that was the case, i wanna see the video...i wanted to hear it from the officers mouth the next day...But oh well, its how the game goes lol

Why would there be a video. Most peeps don't start filming until things are already underway.

Why are you laughing about the question of him attacking the cop? What do you think happened? The cop shot for no reason?

You will never hear the story out of the cops mouth the next day. My dad was a defense attorney. He NEVER let his clients speak publicly, or otherwise, until after the investigation is completed, at the very least.

Damn, wasnt one shot enough! Sickening, feel for the parents and only them.

No, one shot is rarely enough. Especially for a 6 ft 4 300 lb guy. It only takes a couple of seconds to shoot 6 times.
