They had the license plate number, but it took three and a half hours to locate him?!

Did I hear that correctly?

It was not his truck. They found the registered owner who had lent the truck to the monster.

then the process needs FIXED and streamlined. speed is SO CRUCIAL and could have saved this poor Hailey's life. the AA does no good 2 hours later! you could be ages away by then.

They had the license plate!!

It should have taken 20 minutes, tops, to find his house!

WHAT process?!

Witnesses did all they could. Feel for them, they will never forget.

BBM

I honestly don't believe that is true. Many pedophiles weren't abused as a child. Some even grew up in close knit middle income families. Joseph Duncan was one of the most prolific sadist pedophile and murderer yet the FBI found no evidence he had ever been abused as a child.

A small minority of pedophiles will have sexual abuse in their past history just like any other criminal that may have it in their background or those found in the general population. But sexual abuse does not make someone into a pedophile.

Imo, their wiring is wrong and they are attracted to children. This may be because they feel they have no control over their adult life and can control a small defenseless child. They often have poor relationships with adults..such as the dating scene. Also it is known that a some pedophiles didn't have a strong father figure while growing up and were raised by a single mother. A mother they may have a love/hate relationship with. This does not always apply because they can grow up with two parents in the home.

Here is one article about pedophiles.

Characteristics of Offenders Who Violate and Assault Children

According to the Survey of Inmates of State Correctional Facilities by the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Statistics, the following statistics have been recorded concerning the characteristics of offenders who violate and assault children.

* Those inmates who were convicted of committing violent acts against children were more like to have been white, a percentage of nearly 70%, than any other race.
* White inmates were nearly three times more likely to have victimized a child than black inmates.
* About one in every seven Hispanic convicts had been convicted for a crime against a child.
* Nearly two-thirds of convicted child molesters and/or offenders were or had been married.
* Child molesters and offenders were more likely to have grown up in a two parent home and were more likely to have been molested as a child.
* Approximately 22% of child offenders reported having been sexually abused as a child.

Respectfully, I believe the number is much higher, but this is no place to debate it. :)

Why wait so long to confirm her body has been found when people have been searching for her?
we didn't want to make assumptions, upon entering residence found what might be the victim, but not able to verify that it could be a young girl. 15 min ago was able to determine that it was a person

(OMG, I'm terrified as to what shape she is in)

They couldn't confirm the body was Hailey they couldn't even confirm the body was that of a young girl.. they just have in the last 15 mins. OMG

Does anyone else think this was not his first time killing a child? And he's not talking...wonderful.

They had the license plate!!

WHAT process?!

If the second crime scene was, in fact, a laundromat then even finding his house in 10 minutes might not have helped, but that Amber Alert WOULD HAVE. :banghead:

Suspect has been jailed on a first-degree murder charge.

Suspect has been employed by Springfield R-12 school district since 1998.

Sounds like that would be tampering with the evidence - washing clothing - rather than an actual scene of an assault, IMHO.

I believe it was said that he borrowed the truck. So it would have taken time to locate the owner and then get info on who borrowed it. Then when LE got to the house it appears that his truck was not there because they where watching the house when he pulled in driving the truck. Maybe returning from the laundromat?

If he had her and the laundromat...and an Amber Alert went out immediately some one may have seen the truck there. It sucks to play what if but it is so frustrating. Is it so hard to allow police officers to call a news station and say "Hey, put this description out there immediately!" when a WITNESSED abduction occurs?

That poor little girl...

Parents, tell your children to RUN as fast as possible and scream, make as much noise as possible. DON'T get close to the car in that situation!

They couldn't even identify her remains as a human being until 15 minutes ago? What the??? Did he burn her body? What else could cause a body to become so unidentifiable, even to identify as a human form?

If he was ' merely' washing his clothes and destroying evidence at laundromat, would that justify calling laundromat a 'crime scene' ? That seems odd to me.

it was not his truck I think I heard?

OMG! It is like he planned all of this out. He was looking for a young child to abduct, imo.

At least this one was solved very fast. Most of the time when a child is abducted no one sees or hears a thing.:(

That was not the case here and thank God for the witnesses who tried to stop him.

IMO
