Do we know where he was before 15 yrs ago when he started to work at this school? He's not a young man. He could have been active for decades now . :( Hoping this brings some closure to another family or two at some point.

I do too, but apparently he's not even talking to authorities. They didn't have him cornered, he just sauntered on home. I think there's an element of narcissism here that's going to severely impede further questioning. Hopefully they can get some useful DNA off cold cases (two unidentified children just in MO??) now that he's in the system.

Except they were given a very good discription of the kidnapper/murderer.

If he was the owner of the truck, I'm sure it would have been easy to get his driver's license photo to show the witnesses.

Why wait so long to confirm her body has been found when people have been searching for her?
we didn't want to make assumptions, upon entering residence found what might be the victim, but not able to verify that it could be a young girl. 15 min ago was able to determine that it was a person

(OMG, I'm terrified as to what shape she is in)

If he was ' merely' washing his clothes and destroying evidence at laundromat, would that justify calling laundromat a 'crime scene' ? That seems odd to me.

I have a bad feeling about the laundromat. Could he have done something to her body at the laundromat?

MO MO - Dixon, Child-Skeletal, Preteen, Found on Rural Private Property, Oct'13 - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

I hope they take a really close look at what this aberration has been up to for oh, say.. his entire life. He's clearly done something unspeakable to her remains (I hate typing that!!) and the offenders of that variety are usually caught in their early/mid-20's (with some even younger exceptions like Sigg).

From the thread you linked:

Does anyone have Craig's address handy?

Same here. To even tutor at our library, work at a daycare, preschool, or be a regular weekly volunteer at a school in my state, you have to be have a background and be fingerprinted, which would have turned anything up.

I've had background checks in recent years both for working as a library volunteer (including children's programs) and for being listed as a substitute Sunday School teacher at our church. So it doesn't matter even if you have had an good employment history with children. This is pretty much the norm nowadays, and I for one am glad for that. Routine background checks can't prevent this sort of thing from ever happening, but hopefully they still deter it.

it doesn't sound like it. LE were watching his house when he returned from the laundry mat, from there they took him to HQ. Her body was in the house.

He wouldn't have been able to put her body back in his house after returning from the laundry mat.

Background checks only indicate past convictions and arrests.

Have you found a source that shows he had something that would have shown up in a background check? They're not personality detectors - you have to have been convicted or arrested for something to show up.
RSBM

Thanks for clarifying. No, I haven't found much about him. Sometimes people can present themselves as being completely harmless when they are monsters.
I was not trying to blame the school but apologize if it sounded like it.

Hopefully they dig very deeply into this creature's past !

The only things I've discovered so far is that he graduated from Marshall High School in 1986 and was voted most outgoing of his class. And in August of 1990 when he was charged with misdemeanor possession of drugs he was living at 2283 MIRABEAU, SPRINGFIELD, MO 65804. He also belonged to a local bluegrass band.

I followed Hailey's thread last night, went to bed, and hoped not to see those two dreaded words, "Found Deceased" when I woke up this morning. And there they are again. So this monster (I love animals and he does not deserve to be put in the same category.) borrows a truck from a relative to abduct and murder a child? I suppose had he not been arrested he would not miss a beat, be at school right now mingling with everyone's children. Now he won't even admit what he has done to this darling little girl? I posted the RSO map of Springfield that had more red dots than white space but what is more scary is he wasn't even one of them! How many of these ******** have and will never be caught? If not for the witnesses, he probably would have gotten away with it. May he rot in prison, then hell and may Hailey join all those other innocent little children in a beautiful place surrounded with puppies and toys, and kindness and love.

They had the license plate!!

It should have taken 20 minutes, tops, to find his house!

WHAT process?!

Why do people keep writing this? A license plate number is NOT A GPS tracking device to the car. It wasn't even his car. We have to remember that everyone involved is a human being and we are not computers and there are other things at play. They were watching his home and I am sure it took some time to piece together his identity after reaching the person who actually owned the car.

The fact that witnesses tried to stop him, chased him, got the plate number, call 911 which takes time - gathered their thoughts here, police come out to investigate if the call is legit - everything takes some time.

I am impressed he was found so quickly, however he killed her just as quickly. He is the only one to blame here, had he kept her alive a little longer they would have found her. He knew they were on his tail and sadly this may be why he killed her so quickly.

Yes, not only b/c covering up a crime is a crime, but b/c there might still be trace evidence available if he were there trying to dispose of evidence. Securing all possible evidence (no matter how microscopic) is crucial in convicting a killer.

I would think it's pretty obvious the laundromat didn't enter into the picture until after the murder occurred elsewhere (most likely at his home). It's merely the place he likely tried to wash away evidence (clothes, etc)

I can't find anything tying him to any other states. Looks like he's been Springfield most of his life?

I wonder if he traveled much. Maybe summer time murders in other locations could be tied to him, since he probably didn't work during the summer.

Intellus shows him in Springfield and prev Ash Grove so I would think this is him.

I wonder if he was at work yesterday?

reason I ask was the mention by the reporter of the 911 call around 3pm re: attempted abduction near a school (<----eta: this was in the presser)

I also wonder when he borrowed the truck.

A friend at work her son was in ISS yesterday she plans to talk with him after they get home tonight. Especially to see if he was there and to find out anything else. She is very upset.

I asked my friend who went to school with him what he was like...she said he was really nice and a pot head.
