I am pretty sure it is unusual. I wonder if Hailey managed to untie herself, and she was trying to get away, when he shot her? How exactly does LE know she tried to get away, if he's not talking? Maybe they are making a reasonable guess based on where the wound was?

Apparently he's talked a little bit. "Later that night, while in police custody, Wood offered two different stories for his whereabouts that day.". He may not be admitting to the crime but he's talked enough to give conflicting information about his whereabouts. Not that it has anything to do with your question, LOL, but noteworthy to the general discussion ;).

Me too, gunshot to back of head, ligature marks. REALLY hate to say it but makes me think execution?

There is no punishment fit for this 🤬🤬🤬 :banghead:

and the bleach :-(

I hope they can figure out if he purchased it ahead of time.... I will have to go read the document again but didn't it say "bottleS" like more than one. Heck, I don't even have one bottle of bleach right now.

above says he will also not be there in person.. will appear via video

I wonder if this is the vehicle that this guy usually drove. The title/registration may have been in his father's name, but the house was also jointly owned with his father.

Is it normally for one to not appear there and why wouldn't they?

Also, when do they know if she was sexually assaulted? I am assuming that charge will later be added. I normally don't assume things, but can't imagine he didn't because why else take her. I hope with everything he didn't.

That's the impression I got from the interview with his neighbors.

This leads me to wonder why a single man wasn't able to purchase a home & car in his own name.

The license plate check indicated that the 2008 truck is registered to Jim and Regina Wood.

Officers went to the home of Jim Wood in Ash Grove, MO.

Jim Wood informed the officers that his son, Craig Wood, is the person that drove that vehicle.

My assumption (per the above info) is that the truck belonged to Jim and Regina Wood and their son, Craig, drove the truck.

Therefore, he did not borrow the truck to commit the abduction/murder crime. My assumption is that Craig drove this truck on a regular basis and it was his means of transportation.

Just my opinion and assumption.

Bad credit and needed a cosigner? Not enough income? Not enough credit? No down payments? For a normal person, there are a lot of reasons to have someone cosign/co-own on these things. Since he abducted and murdered a child, it makes me wonder more...than I would for your average joe.

Me as well.

Reads like that, doesn't it?

Like others have said, I really don't think that this is his first time doing something like this. I hope LE is trying to tie together cases nearby to see if there are connections.

I agree, I don't think this is his first time. These pedophiles rely on having control over their victims. He's in a place now where his other possible victims
can now come forward.

I do think though that this was the first time this happened to him. Being chased down the street. Knowing he'd been had. I believe that's why he took her to his house. His "safe zone". He knew he quickly had to figure out what to do next. He knew he had really "sharted" this time.

He is now in the court system. Judge assigned. Media request for cameras, etc. Judge says no bond.

then enter his name (craig m wood)
and click on this case
make sure you use his initial

His salary from last year was reported to be $17,000 annually. I am confident the truck was in his parents name but he was the primary custodian/driver of it.

Sounds like he left his laundry and was on his way back home for something, when LE apprehended him. I wondered how LE knew which laundromat to look at. Bet he told them that was where he was while the abduction was taking place.

Attendant Tressa Brown arrived at work about 7 a.m. Wednesday and said police and agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation were inside the laundromat. She said Wood is believed to have used one washer and two dryers Tuesday evening.

“They took all of his laundry,” Brown said of authorities. “They took at least five bags of laundry.”

I spoke with my cousins who are a lawyer and a Detective. We do not live in MO, so not sure if the rules are different. But, here they would have gotten a warrant right away. They had probable cause to search the house.

What frightened all three of us, and I am sure many of you, is she could have been alive or close to dying in the house as they sat outside waiting for her. What if he had poisoned her or locked her in a box and she was gasping for air? I also am not understanding they then walked in without a wart pant to see if anyone needed help? Why not do that when they arrived? I am not faulting them in their process for bring ping her home because I am greatly impressed in how quick this way. But, I do not understand why it took until 2am to get a warrant. You can get a warrant signed here in minutes, even in the middle of the night. I just wonder if there is more behind the details that they are not telling because otherwise it makes little sense.

Once Wood's Father told LE his son drove the truck and lead them to his house. Prior to the "well-check", I think Officer's were looking around outside the home. I believe they found evidence (bloody towels maybe) in a trash can, for example. Once they entered the home and saw the scene in the basement (wet floor, strong odor of bleach, .22 casing), they knew.

The way LE presents the protocols they followed at the scene, is obviously for legal reasons. It would not surprise me if we are correct in reading between the lines. Hopefully though, a swarmy defense attorney won't successfully be able to challenge any evidence in the future.

My mind says, the law is the law, period. But my heart says the life of a ten-year-old little girl was at stake ... get over it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So am I. I was just answering the question (why a single man can't own these things in his name) and listing the reasons.
