The article has been updated to correct the spelling of the girl's name.

CORRECTION: Police previously spelled the child’s name Alesia. It was later corrected to Aleise.

Mods, could you please correct her name in the thread title? I don't know how to do that. Thank you.,

This sounds ominous
Here's a press conference:

AMBER Alert: 5-year-old girl abducted in stolen vehicle in Affton

The girl was in the vehicle when her guardian went inside and returned to find both the child and vehicle missing, police said. The vehicle has since been recovered a couple of blocks away at the Madaford Garden apartment complex, but the child remains missing.

Based on various images of where the police were parked I'm guessing that she disappeared from this low-rise apartment building with the dirt parking lot (center of the screen grab image from google maps). They seemed focused on the unit furthest from the street.

This happens once or twice a year in Chicago - a parent leaves their child in a running vehicle to just run into a quickie mart or other small business and the vehicle is stolen. Without fail, the children have been dropped off safe somewhere, even if the vehicle wasn't immediately located.

This is worrisome that the vehicle was found, but not the child. The fact that the vehicle was driven by a "guardian" makes me think of a possible (non custodial) parent abduction.

I forgot to mention that during the presser LE said that there are no photos of Aleise. :(

Madaford Gardens complex, where the vehicle was found, is only 1.5 miles away, so it is walkable back to the apartments on New Hampshire, if someone had to go back to get their own vehicle or back to where they live if they live in the area. the Madaford complex is out of the way enough that you'd have to be familiar with the area to know about that parking lot.

Not to be picky because it does look like a dirt parking lot in the screen capture above but, it's not. If you go to street view, it's just a really poorly maintaining asphalt parking lot.

I can't imagine leaving my child alone in a running vehicle, and I don't even have kids.

RSBM

Well, that's always a red flag now, isn't it? How many times have we seen that before?

So when is the last time this child was seen by someone other than her guardian?
Was this a set up because the child was actually gone before a supposed abduction.
We have seen this so many times.
IMO

We discussed a similar case last year that kept us all without breathing for hours,in the end the outcome was really not expected but at least the child had been safe all along.
I hope the child is found safe here too.

IMO We will see an arrest soon.

The guardian brought the child out, put her in the car, went inside to get something else and came back out, and the car was gone,

Clay said that Dawson was staying with a guardian at the time she was reported missing. She said that Dawson has been living with the guardian, who is a family member, for a couple of weeks.

Quid her parents ?

Somehow I don't think so, although I sure hope you are right.

She has only been in the custody of this guardian at this location for the past few weeks so that is how the lack of photographs was explained in the presser. The car being abandoned without the child troubles me. Causes me to ask the following questions:

Who knew where to find this child/household?
Why was the child only recently in the care of this gaurdian?

Lots of questions with this one. 😒 IMO

I feel like if someone was just randomly there and saw a car for the taking, driving off only to realize a short time later there was a 5 year old in the backseat, they had two options, dump the child off on the side of the road or dump car with child still inside. The fact the car has been located without the child bothers me a great deal. Makes me wonder if the child herself was the target.

I hope they are checking the drainage ditch that appears to run behind the apartment complex

There are no records in the MO court system for any formal guardianship of the child, but some "sensitive" cases involving minors are stated to be withheld from public viewing.

But it makes me wonder if CPS or the courts were involved at all, or if a parent placed the child with another family member.

ST. LOUIS (KMOV/Gray News) – Police in St. Louis canceled an Amber Alert that was issued Monday morning after they said the 911 call was a hoax.

5-year-old at center of Amber Alert does not exist, abduction story was ‘made up,’ authorities say

Oh

My

Gawd!

People are trash, plain and simple. Grrrr, such a waste of resources, this child doesn't even exist. Once again, someone decided authorities would respond faster with more resources if they claimed a child was in the car. I am livid. I hope the "guardian" of said non existent child is prosecuted to the fullest for this false report!
