Heather Elder (of the State of Missouri MP unit) said that she will create a NamUs casefile for Janice.

Another thing that I noticed about the Corona Jane Doe: She is described in the Riverside County Sheriff/Coroner website as having pegged shaped upper-lateral incisors.

http://www.riversidesheriff.org/coroner/unidentified/1981-8239.asp

From the Dental Chart:
[No restorations] / 7 - "4-PEG" LATERAL ANATOMICAL SHAPE
[No restorations] / 10 - "4-PEG" LATERAL ANATOMICAL TOOTH SHAPE

Now look at the zoom-in on Janice's smile. Her lips are very slightly parted, and it appears that there might be gaps on both sides of her #7 tooth, which is what you would expect to see if she had pegged-shaped incisors.

Here's a photo that I found online of an example of pegged-shaped lateral incisors.

According to her sisters profile that she created to post about her sister missing.. she does in fact state that Janice did go missing on her actual birthday.. and she does still state that on that birthday that Janice had turned 18 ..AND BEST OF ALL THE SISTER GIVES HER EMAIL ADDRESS TO CONTACT HER ABOUT THE CASE! !

Here's the link to where the sister states this.. i couldn't copy/paste(damn tablet;) )

So glad you were able to talk to someone about the potential match, Carl. She looks very much like Janice, and the vital stats seem to fit well.

I did shoot an e-mail over to Charley Project, and I'm sending one to Doe as well, so that we can really get her info out there.

I saw the e-mail address earlier today, and e-mailed her to give her a heads up on what is going on. I also invited her to join Websleuths and join the discussion if she wished.

I do believe she is still missing as well! I wonder how many other Janice Youngers are out there, missing, but no info out there at all. And they wonder why we have so many Jane and John Does! Time to scour NamUs and Doe network for her, I do think its likely she could be a match out there, does any one have any vitals on her or more info on her circumstances?

Man, they look alike! Except AGJD was found in Oct'80 and Janice went missing in July of 1981.

However, I'm wondering if they have their dates right. Her birthdate is listed as 7-17-1962, and she's listed as going missing on 7-17-1981. Her sister did say July '81, which matches that. But her sister didn't say anything about her disappearing on her birthday, which seems like something you would mention. Also her sister said she was 18, but if she disappeared 7-17-81, she'd be 19.

Hello to you all!
Wow, you guys have some good ideas already...
I thought the exact same thing when I saw Janice's photo on the home page today...
Janice's height is listed at 5'7", so she is too tall for AGJD; unless this is suppose to be 57 inches?. Verifying every detail is a good idea, IMO.

She certainly matches (blonde hair/blue eyes) and her overall look.

I would like to do a blog entry on Janice's story, maybe even make a Missing Person banner for her to place on websites to help publicize her story. Any word back from Meaghan on Charley Project or Doe Network for adding her story?

It would also be nice if we could get some more info about the circumstances surrounding that day. She was visiting her son-- did she have a car, use the bus, or hitchhike? Who did she normally live with? How do they know from where she went missing?

  • #32
I definitely agree! Any news articles from archives, any little details, any information, leads, suspects, theories would be nice!
I wonder why her case wasn't given a big push?

Yay! Charley project does not have her up yet. But they have no new cases in the last few days, only updates to old ones. How long does it usually take for them to put it up?

Meaghan has frequently acknowledged in her blog that she isn't doing updates as fast as she would like, and she has been very apologetic about it. She says that she has a huge backlog of updates and new cases. In recent months, she has had health issues, but I think she is pretty much past that now.

I routinely send her e-mails whenever I find info pertaining to her cases, so she is quite familiar with me. I dropped her an e-mail earlier today, asking her to do a casefile for Janice, so hopefully she will move this one to the front of her backlog.

Thanks, Carl. I got chills when I was looking over all this again. Her birthday is the same day as she disappeared. Odd enough. But I realized later that I found and posted this case ON JULY 17! July 17 would be Janice's 50th birthday, and the 31st anniversary of her disappearance. Here's to hoping it's a good sign that our efforts will help bring Janice home.

Hey guys, I found something that I would love for you all to see. Take a look at this Doe Network case with an unidentified photo found in the possession of SK John Smith during his 2003 California arrest. IMO, the girl in this picture looks similar to Janice (and AGJD). The FBI is still trying to id this person.

She looks somewhat similar to Janice, but I don't see any hint of a widow's peak hairline.

  • #39
That is eery! They look identical! I know we don't have vitals on the unknown woman listed on the doe network, but wow! I think it's worth sending this to Doe Network's Rocky!
