If it doesn't appear to be foul play, the gun must have been located.
The link is an article from May 2023, not long after John went missing. Investigation was in the early stage.

Wowee Zowee.
More here:
@?!?
Early on (mid-late June?) I recall reading about their previous crypto biz hitting a bump in the road, but info in that forum thread seems to raise the bump into outer space. imo
ETA: Of course, I have no info about what happened subsequently or the final outcome. Amicably resolved?

Thanks for the link. Got any more? TiA.

If you want the 'whole ONFO story' use DuckDuckGo and search on things like Alitin Mint, Andelin, and all the other related terms found in the above post -- haven't posted them here since they are likely to be considered "off topic."

You can check with the Mods, but it should be ok to post. It's relevant to the thread as police are considering that his death may be related to their cryptocurrency business.

I believe these discussions are on topic... especially since many point to crypto-revenge being the cause of his death. Given this hypothesis, I have tried to study Richard's style, and communication. I find him very perplexing.

The Ilya lichtenstein-Heather Morgan case magnifies the extraordinary criminal activity with crypto. I was amazed at their Narcissistic and ostentatious lifestyle. THIS case reminded me of the likewise lifestyle of Anna Delvey/Sorokin case, also here on Websleuths.

Richard is so 'smooth' in his communication. He is so low-keyed as he discusses the 'perhaps disgruntled acquaintance' who might have had a grudge. "But he was living overseas". (Like if that matters).

I appreciate the Alitin Mint Breach post by @?!? . It also shows Richard's smooth and apologetic style, in my opinion.
I am still trying to figure out whether it was Richard or John leading or following.

I’m still perplexed that the police have not publicly disclosed if this is foul play. The large number of search warrants being served at Richard’s home would seem to indicate that foul play is, indeed, on the table (versus suicide).

Search Warrants?

@AmandaSkis
In TV interview w him (last week?), I heard Richard say that LE had a search warrant looking for a gun and they seized his Glock.
Looks like I need to catch up, because I have not heard or read anout other SWs served on him/his property.

Link, pls. OP or anyone? TiA.

More here:
"I personally understand what it is like to be robbed. It's infuriating, and I COMPLETELY understand and fully accept the anger." RF

Is he admitting that their clients were robbed?

Wow. One guy had 3 bitcoins invested which today would be valued around $75k.

So, whoever had the key to mine the coin at Alitin either didn't destroy the key or used it to siphon the bitcoins back into their pocket. Alitin was a US backed bitcoin. The buyers actually lost money; US currency. Was it an intentional collapse or an inevitable collapse of Alitin?

Then, on that site is a screenshot of a ledger showing John signed in using ambicard.com email address.

Perhaps he did that so he could take a screenshot of the ledger for promotional/informational purposes? In context, it looks like he was trying to show future customers what the system looked like. IDK, I'm anything but an expert at this bitcoin business.

Was that the best way to demonstrate it? I might have cut out the part that showed his email address used to access the system. Might make it easier for hackers to get in. IDK.

Thanks. Do you see the word above the numbers on the right hand side? It's "alitins". Any idea what an alitin might mean to John?

Here is another disgruntled investor who claims his coin, purchased via Alitin, was stolen on February 26th, 2017. He included his bitcoin address and sure enough, his coin, worth > $53k, was removed on 2/28/17.

We need a forensic auditor to calculate an estimate of money investors lost thru dealing these companies. Is a picture forming for anyone?

In the most charitable view, it seems like they might not have been spending enough to make sure their site was secure. The hackers are very persistent and skilled. I suppose its also possible not everyone who complains about stolen "coins" actually had one stolen. IDK. I'm biased, but the whole bitcoin world seems kind of shaky, with a lot of bad actors.

I wish I understood it better-bitcoin and such. I'm extremely tech saavy but bitcoin somehow goes over my head

@nhmemorymaker I am right there with you in wondering what the nuances of that relationship were. While watching the recent interview with Richard by Eliz Van Metre ( who reminds me a bit of Lauren Scharf from Suz Morphew case) I was struck but R and J’s differences in physical appearance and how they present. Richard was sitting below a headshot of John -to me showing a stark contrast. Just an observation. Imo and from my own experience sibling relationships can be complicated esp when you are in business together.

I am anxiously waiting for more to be revealed. But in the back of my mind I hear “cat and mouse” - if that makes any sense in relation to R and LE.

I know. It all sounds to me like pretend money, money laundering, etc. In some ways, this is beginning to sound like a plot line for the tv show "Ozark", or like a plot for a book by Daniel Woodrell.
