Kara's friend FKK may be able to give us an update. Maybe she is on vacation because she hasn't posted very recently.
HKara's parents seem overwhelmed with this from the newspaper article, who wouldn't be. But I think they are taking there lead from LE because they said they are getting sightings and leads from as far away as Florida, but nothing seems to pan out. I 'm sure it must be hard to see clearly what the next step is that they need to do. I t seems like someone needs to take them by the hand and lead them through the steps that need to be taken. I know I would be out of my mind with worry and would need someone to step in and walk me through the paces. I know her friend FKK was trying to that from the posts here, but I think perhaps they also need an adult family member or friend to help them see there way to the next step. Which is easier said then done I am sure.

I have lived in Belton for 7 years...

There are flyers up all over the place. Some of them have a post-it note attached that says "$20000 REWARD".

Right after Kara went missing we did see a few flyers posted on poles around the neighborhood (we live about a mile from the hs) but they were taken down a few days later and we assumed she had been found because we hadn't heard anything on the news. It wasn't until Kelsey was abducted did we hear anything more about Kara. Very sad..

Meezer~ Thanks for that update on the fliers. Could you tell me what the area directly around the HS is like? Are there wooded areas? Do you know where the kids go to smoke? It is secluded there?

The high school is right next to the Belton Cemetery surrounded by houses, duplexes, and I believe a small apartment building. From what I have seen driving by, the kids go out to smoke across the street.

3 Months today and still nothing being done for Kara.

I wonder if it would help if we went above Belton's PD to the Sheriff's dept. to ask for searches and inquiries into Kara's disappearance? Someone needs to put some pressure on and obviously the family isn't going to. The less the family is doing, the more someone else should be, IMO.

It is more than sad. How can you just sit by while your daughter is missing?! I will admit...I had a teenaged daughter who went missing on purpose (My oldest). I knew it (instinct..yes, I believe in my gut feelings.) and did not call in LE for that reason. I did play "dirty pool" and investigated on my own until I found out about the "network" of kids her age at the time that picked fights with the parents on weekends when there was a party going on...so they left...then they assumed when they returned...everyone was SO glad they weren't dead...they were out of much retaliation from naive parents. Needless to say, I did not take that route.

I had a CD put away for her a car when she turned 16 and I put the "word on the street" that her "car" had turned into a PI and until she surfaced...it would remain dwindling until such a time she was found. It wasn't 12 hours until I heard from her and she was in a "safe house". She knew I was angry, but not stupid. I made the decision to leave her in "the system" until I moved her into a facility which controlled her somewhat and we could communicate. (Boy, she didn't count on any of that! I must add..at 29 today..she thanks me for it tho! Actually, at 18..she thanked me formally for everything I had done to prevent her from being harmed and how much she felt loved even after she was so thoughtless.) I guess it is the reason I am so adamant when I feel some are really missing and others aren't. I feel Kara is one that is really missing.

There was an attempted abduction in Olathe this weekend from a man with Missouri license plates. Wonder if he had something to do with Kara!

I thought the Govenor had asked the State Attorney General's office to look into what happened to Kara and what was going on with the investigation. Could be wrong but I thought I read that somewhere. Maybe a local person could call the Attorney General's office to inquire what has been done/ not done and where they stand with the investigation. Couldn't hurt and the worse they could say is they are not commenting at this time.

Yes, they are involved so I guess it wouldn't do us any good to talk to anyone else. I rather had forgotten about them to tell you the truth. After the initial entrance into this case, we haven't heard anything from them. Oh, well...at least they are involved. Maybe they will eventually get to the bottom of this! Our patience is wearing thin around here!

She just said she had been busy and she should come over here. I took that as yes she would be coming over but this was a week ago. So one can only hope.
