Interesting. The boys may have said all kinds of things. Didn't LE suddenly start to focus big time on mom ? After they had said that there were no holes in the parents' story story ? LE said that there were gaps in mom's story that they wondered about ? It's been almost 7 days...why are the 2 boys still not with their parents ? MOO

I would think that a 6 & 8 year old, that are watching a movie with a neighbor, and have a new kitten to play with, probably aren't paying much attention to baby sister? Perhaps that is why there are gaps?

but, I bet not the window open and door unlocked. Lights offer protection. Open windows and doors invite trouble. Odd

We had a discussion about leaving doors unlocked yesterday. I am ashamed to say that I have been guilty of accidentally leaving my front door unlocked several times when my children were young and I was tired and distracted. I can certainly see how a young mother with 3 kids to care for could forget...because I have been that mother....

That isn't exactly what I meant, however! While I can see the child turning on the lights instead of an intruder, I cannot see an intruder entering an already lit up house.

:)

Maybe the lights were turned on after the baby was taken. 6 yr old looking for kitten then crawls in bed with mom?

Why would the husband find the lights being on unusual. This is his first time working overnight shift. How would he know his wife/gf didn't leave the lights on to feel secure or to help him as he came in the wee hours? But, he said he IMMEDIANTLY knew something was odd about the lights being on. I don't understand this. What I find odd is not the lights being on, but the door being unlocked and window left open and sick baby behind closed door.

I agree. There would be absolutely no benefit to give an "exclusive" interview to one news group if they were not being paid. You would think they would want each and every news outlet to have all the information. Why narrow your exposure unless you were getting something out of it? I have no doubt in my mind that they were paid, just like CA was paid for those photos at the beginning of her case.

If it were me, I would refuse any kind of exclusive deal because I would want *all* the media to have every tiny bit of information available so they could blast it to as large an audience as possible. I would worry about money later. If I were innocent, that is.

I can see them feeling like they were being badgered and misjudged by LE, just as a result of the situation and from being exhausted from little to no sleep and undue stress. Maybe they just needed some sleep, JMO.
They also have a family to support, bills, house payment, etc. These don't go away. They may not be considered "poor" but they are on limited income as JI only gets paid when he works, at least I assume. So whatever they can garner to help w/ expenses , again I assume, during this time he has not been working, would help them to continue paying their bills and w/ the hotel expenses as well. It seems to be a matter of practicality and I personally don't think I can fault them for that. JMO :)

My 26 year old daughter leaves lights on and the door unlocked all the time. Infuriates me....when I throw the door to her bedroom open I am not checking on her, I am yelling, "REALLY? AGAIN??"

It wouldn't surprise me at all...and sometimes I just lock it and yell at her in the morning lol

What does it take! My DS does the same thing...Mon-Fri. I'm usually in bed when he goes to school, but I always say "have a good day and please make sure you lock the door behind you". He leaves it open every day! One of these days I'm going to wake to an axe murderer - I know it.

Carry on....

So, if your husband came home and found is family asleep... and the door unlocked... Would he wake you up and ask you "why"?

If the kitten was new..has it been reported anywhere WHERE they got the kitten from? It's probably a longshot, but maybe someone delivered the new kitten to the house, saw baby Lisa..the rest is history.

once again, definitely a longshot, but I'm just thinking of other possibilities here.

I have a teenager and 2 college students who all work at a local restaurant. There are lights on and people coming and going from my house at all hours of the day and night. I fall asleep on the couch a lot waiting for everybody to get home safe and sound, and not only will there be lights on...but usually a computer and a TV also.

My neighbors too -- they always leave their kitchen light on (and she's a SAHM). But she's prolly like me...an insomniac.

You'll usually find a light on at my house at night too. I don't find it all that unusual. For me, it's so I don't trip over my 2 cats (I already have a pinned ankle). I'd rather pay for a little more electricity than break my ankle again!

MOO

Mel

I keep my lights on all night long. Not, every light but at least one in each room. I hate having the house completely dark. The only exception is my bedroom, because my husband likes the lights out when he's sleeping.

If he woke me up to ask me why the lights were on, I'd probably deck him! lol The fact that JI did that tells me that lights on at night was something highly unusual.

What's funny is with the exception of a couple other houses, everyone else in the neighborhood is completely dark.I am thinking whose house would you break into first.Yes you are correct. We don't usually bother to cut the TV off either.Shhh we are up all night:)

We often fall asleep watching TV so it isn't until sometime in the middle of the night that it's turned off. Honestly, a couple dimmed lights and the TV doesn't use that much electricity, however it could be a good deterrent to anyone thinking of breaking into the house.

It is my understanding in this case that JI wasn't usually working at night. If true, what are the odds the intruder chose this particular night unless they knew the family and he wasn't at home?

I keep thinking this is a very personal focused attack on this family. The person went into the kitchen to arm themselves because getting caught B&E with a weapon is a lot worse then B&E with no weapon. While they were in the kitchen they saw the phones and stuck them in their pocket just so if a fight or someone fleeing could not call for help. The object was to take the baby at any cost. Look for someone who has been in prison and learned some stuff.

No, he wouldn't UNLESS he found something/someone missing from our house, then we would definitely wake me. But the door itself..no, he wouldn't wake me (and, on the reverse, I wouldn't wake him either..).

Happy Thanksgiving! :turkey:

:blowkiss: I hope you're having a great holiday! Is your mom making all of the things that make me drool?

  • #339
Yes. I was going back and forth about which one and decided mom was the more likely. The other element was sort of a wild card yesterday. Still interested in that angle should the investigation prove it worthy of consideration.

I agree. Knowing he had the code to the garage makes me wonder if he had access to other entries in the home like the front door?

Hmmmm...which makes me think....I wonder if they checked all their keys? Did they have extras in the house or on the porch or other location? I know some people leave a key under a rug or hide one in their yard in case they get locked out of the house. Some people actually give their "trusted" neighbours an extra set for emergency purposes.

I'm pretty sure that hasn't been reported yet...
