I still have to wonder who goes to bed and leaves cell phones on a kitchen counter. Even if they are new and you have been putting new numbers in. Especially if you are home alone with 3 children. What if there was an emergency with your spouse at work or your parents or a sibling and someone tried to call you and your phone was just sitting rooms away on a kitchen counter. You wouldn't even hear it. I don't know of anyone without a land line that doesn't keep their phone right near them. I never go to bed without my phone on my night stand and neither does my dh. We don't even have alarm clocks. We use our phones to wake us up as well. Or God Forbid someone does enter your home and you are in bed and you hear something. Wouldn't you want the phone right next to you to make a call out? Doesn't make sense to me.

All I can say is I have forgotten my cell phone in my truck parked in the garage overnight. However I do know were my .357 Smith is.

This is what has been said on FB via Debbie's father re: the cell phones:

Something was wrong with Debbie's phone and it wasn't working properly. At the birthday party on Sunday she got an old phone from the grandma. For some reason you couldn't transfer all the information at once and she had to input all the contacts one by one. That's what she was doing. Jeremy also had a work phone, so his personal phone was left at home that evening. All 3 phones were on the table in the kitchen -- broken phone, Debbie's new phone, Jeremy's personal phone.

Then, on the first day of questioning, Debbie took J's work phone with her so she could be in contact with her family, and LE confiscated that work phone and have not given it back. Dad said they now had new cell phones.

The only thought I had about this was that if Jeremy does have a work phone in the van, why would the parent's say "they took the phones so we couldn't call"...maybe that's what they thought, but if they had a work phone in the fan, that shouldn't have delayed them too much, right? My question is did J use his work phone to call 911 or was it the neighbor?

Whoever took Lisa may not have realized that Jeremy had a work phone.....

I suppose it differs between individuals depending on your habits. For me, locking the door is so automatic that I do it without any conscious thought. I even lock my husband outside about once a month or so if we're both out in the yard and I come in before him. If I ever did forget, I'd never remember that I had forgotten.

Ok I thought I recently saw a program that the phones will still track if off. That only removing the battery will stop the tracking device. Did I fall asleep and miss something vital in this program? LMAO Cuz it is possible.

What is the consensus tech gurus? Could LE be getting signals from these phones and that is why they are searching certain areas?

Reasons why it doesn't look like an abduction:

1. phones being stolen:

How would they be able to take the baby and the phones? Why would they take cell phones as a way to stall calling 911 when there could be a landline? And now as someone else pointed out, why would someone want something on them that could track them?

2. lights on:

As far as I know have researched, someone who wants to break in your house, will do so quickly and quietly and where it looks like someone may not be home (i.e. LIGHTS OFF).

3. hubby's 1st overnight shift:

this is quite a coincidence that it's his first night having the overnight shift and baby Lisa dissappears.

4. failed lie detector test:

I remember LE saying the questions were along the lines of "Do you know what happened to your daughter?" so to fail that, I don't know, seems suspicious but I don't know a whole lot about LD tests.

Reasons why it doesn't look like mom had anything to do with it:

1. no decomp on mom or crib

Unless this was stated anywhere, I'm assuming LE probably used cadaver dogs already? If they can't pick up scent on the mom or crib, how could it be the mom?

2. other children/evidence

If mom got rid of evidence how would she do this with other children around? If she left them at the house, took off to dispose of evidence, how would she do this without being seen by anyone?

And then there is the call @ 2:30am which I don't know if that has ever been confirmed as from a cell or from the home? Which if it was confirmed to be from the home, would be another reason it doesn't look like an abduction imo.

3. tears seem genuine:

Her tears seem real but again it could be guilt or it could be total devestation over her daughter's dissappearance, I don't know.

This is a tricky one. Lots of coincidences and inconsistencies.

I really pray and hope this will be solved soon, especially that this precious one will be found alive and safe. Too many unsolved missing children cases. It just breaks my heart :frown:

My parents leave theirs on the kitchen counter all the time. Right next to the coffee pot. They have a land line though and it's actually rare that they can be contacted on their cells. It's kind of annoying actually! lol I forget that not everyone is as dependent on their phones as me! Mine is never even a foot away from me! lol

She's 25. 25 year olds are never far from their cell phones. The cell phone records will tell the tale.

Besides, if you have three kids, and your husband is working the night shift for the first time, do you really not check all the doors and make sure you have a phone close by in case of an emergency?

I've heard it both ways. Still not sure which is right. Or it could be that it is different with different phones.

I do know that they cannot track all cell phones to an exact place. Some have GPS and some don't.Those that don't can only be tracked by the pings and that can be within an extended distance.

I just can't stop thinking that whatever happened to Lisa happened much earlier in the day and that dad went to work so as to not raise suspicion. I think they had this story all set up. Perhaps mom called at 2:30 am to check to see if dad would be home soon to start the charade. Then, when she called, she realized that she shouldn't have used her phone because it can be tracked, so either she or dad got rid of all 3 phones because if only hers was missing, that would be a total red flag. I just can't bring myself to believe that mom acted alone in this whole coverup.

I agree. I also think if one of the parents had acted alone, the other wouldn't be all that willing to present such a unified front.

I did this once when my son was small, I was going to school full-time and working part-time. There was a knock at the door one morning, and there stood a friend of mine dangling my keys in my face. Man did I catch allheck from my friends over it....but I was purely exhausted, had a handful of baby/diaper bag/books and/or groceries, went to put stuff down...and promptly forgot to go back and get the keys out of the door. The irony was I HAD locked the door from the inside once I shut it...fat lot of good that did! lol

Now that I've done walking in with groceries. Put them down, turned around and locked the door and never gave one thought to my keys stuck in the lock until my husband came home and found them.

If the intent was to delay calling for help....it wouldn't matter where they were dumped.
The kidnapper isn't going to still be there hanging around anyway. He or she would just dump the phones in the woods or in a dumpster or trash can where the parents can't find them and keep going. In fact, the closer to that home the better because there is no real trail to follow.

My guess, this is why LE used metal detectors during today's search.

And also in the beginning, mom made some statement that the reason for the delay in calling was because the phones were taken. If there was a work phone available, there should have been no delay.

I haven't been able to find a link to where she stated about the delay, but I also read HinkyMeter earlier today and they mention the delay in their reports too, so I know it was said.

I'm not a tech guru, but I think I would have heard of that one. Just owning a phone can get yourself tracked by the government? Now that's scary.

It may not still be sending signals but it may have sent them a signal that they have now triangulated. This is how they found the young woman's body who was abducted from the Oakview Mall in Overland Park and found a few days later on the Missouri side of the state line.

If the phone is turned off, I don't believe it can be tracked by pings or GPS. MOO.

RANCH, I can't remember at the moment which one-- but during one case I followed that very thing was done........a cut off cell phone was traced. I'm sure I'll remember later. lol

I've heard variations of yes and no. One thing is for sure, you can turn off the GPS on your phone, then it can't be pinged. Won't it be interesting if the kidnapper not only stole the phones, but had the good sense to find the settings for each one and turn off the GPS!
