The family of Marquisha Williams spent Sunday searching for her remains in central Illinois, as St. Louis County police informed FOX 2 they had suspended their search efforts there. ...

The couple’s 11-year-old son said he heard his parents arguing in the car that morning. Williams’ mother, Norvette Chavis, told FOX 2 that Ivy’s arrest two states away confirmed her worst fears.

[...]

On Sunday, Chavis led a caravan of roughly 40 family members and friends, spanning 10 vehicles, in a desperate search for her daughter.

The group drove north on Interstate 55 toward Chicago, looking for any signs of the 29-year-old near the east side of the road. They told FOX 2 police informed them Williams may have been left near the interstate, possibly covered with a dark-colored blanket or cloth.

Chavis said the couple has a history of domestic violence. She hopes people will see this story and take red flags seriously.

"Please, anybody that you know that can help us. Please help us, please help us," Terrencee Chavis said. “Every police agency, state troopers, county [and] city."

"We love her, miss her, her kids miss her! They most definitely miss her. My grandbaby needs his mom. He's not even 2 years old yet," Norvette Chavis said.

This is the second time in the last few days parents of Williams, Terrencee and Norvette Chavis have searched with the help of volunteers to locate the mother of four.

They're combing through wooden areas and back roads of Staunton, Illinois.

St. Louis County police said they came here to Staunton on Sunday to search for Williams, but their efforts came up empty.

They said they believed she may have been in this area before she disappeared.

"We know the police said they started their search right here in this area," Chavis said.

Meanwhile, police said they cannot share any more specific information about the investigation. They have not said if Ivy is a person of interest or suspect in the disappearance of Williams.

ST. LOUIS – The family of Marquisha Williams is making a plea to the public to help find the missing mother. This comes after the father of her four children was arrested in Wisconsin following the couple’s disappearance last week.

“I’m trying not to cry, but we need help. We need everybody’s help,” Terrance Chavis, Marquisha’s stepfather, said. “We are all hurting. I have a hard time trying to hold up my head. I didn’t even want to talk, cause I knew this was going to happen. Listen; please help us.”

The search has intensified on both sides of the Mississippi River, with dozens of volunteers pitching in.

Regina Market, Marquisha’s cousin, said the family could not celebrate Christmas.

“We could not celebrate it because we miss our cousin. We miss her. Just imagine her kids; what they are going through. We need her home,“ she said.

“Detectives searched the vehicle after Ivy's arrest. They reportedly found blood and biological material, along with Williams' personal items, inside of the vehicle.
Ivy told Wisconsin detectives that he had killed Williams in St. Louis during a physical altercation, police said. Ivy then disposed of her body in an unknown location.”

What does he mean an "unknown location"?!! I wish LE could do unspeakable things to this animal.

I knew this would be the case, but I'm still shocked by the violence against women seen over and over - Marquisha had four beautiful children. Ivy's selfish, violent, act has forever changed thier lives. She was still breastfeeding the youngest!! I'm heartbroken for them. WHY?!!

Terrence Chavis, right, searches Friday morning, Dec. 28, 2023, with a group of volunteers for his missing stepdaughter, Marquisha Williams, in north St. Louis. Later in the day, police announced her body had been found. Trenton Ivy, 31, of Flordell Hills, is charged with the killing of Williams, 29.

“We appreciate everything that everyone in this room has done for us — the love and the support, from all over,” Terrence Chavis said at the church. “I didn’t know St. Louis had this. You all are part of our family now."

Williams' father, Marvin Williams, expressed relief at the news of his daughter's discovery, which came around 2 p.m.
“I’m just glad they found her and she can come home,” he said.

Marquisha Williams' aunt, Joy Brown, remembered her niece as a soft-spoken mother of four children with Ivy — one 11-year-old, two 6-year-olds and a 1-year-old. The youngest celebrated a first birthday two days before Williams disappeared, Brown said.

Brown had said earlier Thursday that some family members were holding out hope that Ivy had lied about killing Williams, and that she would still turn up alive.

Thursday's news confirmed the family's worst fears, she said, but it also ended a nightmarish week of uncertainty and allowed them to grieve.

“We’re thankful just to know that she’s no longer out in the cold by herself,” she said.

Williams and Ivy began dating in high school and lived together until this year. Williams left in August after a period of domestic abuse, Brown said.

Williams moved to a new home in north St. Louis County, Brown said, and tried to co-parent with Ivy for the past four months.

Marquisha's family is the epitomy of grace under fire- IMO. No harsh words or call for vengence, they were solely focused on finding her.

I'm so sorry for what they are going through, however grateful they were able to find her so quickly. Enduring months, if not years, is so painful for the victim's family.

Trenton Ivey, 31, and his ex-girlfriend Marquisha Williams.

The ex-boyfriend of a Missouri woman who was reported missing was arrested last week and charged with her death after he admitted killing her in an altercation, police said.

Marquisha Williams' family reported her missing on Dec. 20, St. Louis County police said in a news release. Her relatives told detectives she was last seen with Trenton Ivy, her ex-boyfriend, in her Jeep Compass.

Two days after Williams disappeared, Ivy was arrested in Racine, Wisconsin, on charges of resisting an officer, fleeing an officer in a vehicle and using a dangerous weapon. Authorities said that he was in Williams' vehicle and that there was "blood and biological material" in the Jeep, as well as her personal belongings.

I’d love to be the manager of the “unspeakable things“ department and spend my days dreaming up and then employing all manner of cruelties on perps like this. Dream job right there, and sadly, job security because there’s no end to the line of evil. MOO

Ivy is currently being held without bond at Racine County Jail in Wisconsin, and faces the murder charge in St. Louis County.

Authorities said that Ivy admitted to the killing in a post-Miranda interview with detectives in Racine County, while also telling detectives that he was involved in an altercation with Williams prior to the killing.

Police said Ivy told detectives he disposed of Williams' body in "an unknown location."

Williams' aunt, Sandy Bagley, told St. Louis NBC affiliate KSDK that Williams was the mother of four children, and that the family grew concerned when she failed to pick up her kids.

"We knew something was wrong. She is always on time when she picks up her children," Bagley told the station. "We searched in the woods and all along Interstate 55. We just want to find her, lay her to rest and try to start healing. We want Trent to tell us: Where is Marquisha?"
