Nate Ashby, 22, was reported missing July 31. “The phone pinged down on Bernheimer Road and the Missouri River,” his sister said.

She suspects Ashby’s truck is at the bottom of the Missouri River. Water Patrol investigators used sonar images that detected there are multiple vehicles submerged under the water near Treloar, Missouri. Authorities said because of current river conditions, it’s not possible to safely identify the vehicles underwater. Investigators told her because of the depth and strong river currents, they’re unable to place divers in the water. His truck didn't have air conditioning and that he drove with the windows down. If his body was in the truck, it's possible it could have floated out and drifted downstream.

Still missing, no sightings of him or truck. Sister’s probably right, but really....if sonar detects multiple vehicles or large objects in river, but LE can’t search, well, that kind of solves half the missing persons cases in the U.S. But this guy has multiple siblings and is/was one of triplets that he appeared to be close with (according to my sleuthing,) so this really has to be rough for them.

There was also some talk or hints of him having some past or present issues with drugs, so there was possibly an accident as opposed to suicide?

WARREN COUNTY, MO - He disappeared at the end of July, and now a Warren County family is desperately hoping for a break in the case of their missing loved one.

Investigators say at this point the case has gone cold.

“There`s not a day goes by I don`t think about my brother or wonder where he is,” said Becky Diller, the sister of 22-year-old Nathan Ashby.

Ashby disappeared on the morning of July 31st after leaving his Warrenton home.

Becky and many others including the Warren County Sheriff`s Department have searched for him but found nothing.

“On this hand, you think he`s in the river and deceased and on this hand, you want to hold that slither of hope so you jump in your truck and you go run and you go look, you know when you get a tip,” explained Diller.

Becky says the last ping from her brother`s phone came along the Missouri River in rural southern Warren County not long after he left his home on July 31st.

Investigators confirm there is what appears to be an extended cab pick-up truck at the bottom of the Missouri River not far from the location of the cell phone ping.

Nathan drove a 1994 extended cab white Chevy Silverado with a 'Missouri G' decal in the back window.

Sonar images show a truck in the river.

The truck looks to be light in color but Warren County Sheriff Kevin Harrison says the sonar can`t accurately depict colors.

Harrison says it appears the truck hasn`t been there for a long time, but crews haven`t been able to raise it yet because of hazardous river conditions.

“There`s two to three times the depth of water, it`s moving fast and there`s zero visibility all which is going to make a very dangerous work environment to put people in the water,” said Harrison.

Harrison says the disappearance is being treated as a missing persons case and there are no signs of foul play.

Harrison tells us Nathan did struggle with drugs and that he had missed court dates in the time leading up to his disappearance.

Investigators have followed some 30 leads but nothing recently.

Harrison told us, “It`s not something that we`ve folded and put away but it`s inactive right now because we just have no information.”

Becky says Nathan is the only boy in a set of triplets.

She is trying to hold out hope that he is still alive but says she believes in her heart that he is dead because he hasn`t contacted anyone in his family.

“He wouldn`t be gone if he were still here. He wasn`t like that,” said an emotional Becky.

Becky confirms Nathan did have drug challenges but she isn`t sure that played a role in his disappearance.

Sheriff Harrison says he does plan to get the truck out of the river as soon as it`s safe to do it.

If you have any information, you are asked to call the Warren County Sheriff`s Department.

Warren County family still searching for answers months after loved one’s disappearance

Nathan Nathaniel Ashby, 22, was renting a basement apartment in Warrenton, Missouri, and working in construction at various job sites around the county when he disappeared. He was last seen driving to work on July 31, 2019 in his white 1994 Chevy Silverado. He never showed up. His phone pinged in the river near a private boat ramp at Bernheimer Road. Investigators searched the river using sonar images and detected multiple vehicles submerged in the water, which is common in that area, but said they are not able to send in a dive team because the conditions are not safe.

Sheriff Kevin Harrison said they are continuing to track down every tip and lead they receive. They have received tips that Nathan has friends and contacts in other states, including Texas, Tennessee and Arkansas, and that the public should be on the lookout for Nathan and his truck. Nathan is 6 feet, 4 inches tall, and weighs about 170 pounds. His truck, which is also missing, is a white 1994 Chevy Silverado, with a rear window decal that says "Missouri G," and license plate 7AB-G66, according to the sheriff's department.

Police say that a truck and human remains have been found in connection to a search for a missing Warren County man. Nathan Ashby, 22, has been missing since July and the search for him had gone cold. Tests are still being conducted to determine the identity of the remains found in the vehicle.

This is awful - BBM - that it took this long.

In August, The Marthasville Fire Department found an extended cab truck in the Missouri River near the Old Boat Club, near Treloar, while using sonar imaging. Due to the depth and strong river currents, investigators were unable to put divers in the water.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Department said they spoke weekly with Marthasville Fire Department about river levels and risk assessment for a possible recovery.

In November, Ashby’s family was contacted by a dive search team from outside Missouri offering to help. The family put this dive team in contact with the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department coordinated with Adventures with Purpose Search Team out of Colorado and Team Watters Sonar Search and Rescue of Illinois about recovery efforts for the truck.

Law enforcement said the clothing was the same as what the family said Ashby was wearing when he was last seen.

However, positive identification can’t be made until DNA testing is done.

I’m not sure if we are allowed to link YouTube videos, but there is a documentary about the recovery of Nate and his truck. The channel is called Adventures with Purpose. Their dive team drove over 2000 miles each way from the west coast to assist in the recovery operation. It’s very fascinating and was well put together.

I’m happy that he was finally able to be recovered and that his family has closure.

RIP Nate.

While the team started diving for environmental purposes in 2019, its purpose shifted in December 2019 when a family asked them to help find Nathan Ashby, 22, of Warrenton, Missouri. Ashby was last seen driving his 1994 Chevy Silverado in July 2019, and his cell phone location pinged near the river. The team pulled a truck from the river on Dec. 27. Ashby’s remains were inside.

“That’s really how our new mission to serve was started,” Leisek said. “From environmentalists to families that need help.”

Watching the documentary now. Have seen a few others of theirs too. What amazing work Jared, his team and the other people helping them do. All voluntary. This particular recovery was extremely tricky to put it mildly. Strong rising currents, zero visibility, issues with attaching cables, air bags etc. Of the ones I have seen this was by far the most difficult. All of it handled with professionalism and the greatest respect for the deceased and family (all IMO).

R.I.P. Nate
