Police seek public’s help to find missing St. Louis woman

MONROE COUNTY, Mo. – Law enforcement in Monroe County, Missouri is requesting the public’s help to find a missing St. Louis woman.

The woman has been identified at 23-year-old Raffaella Maria Stroik.

Authorities say her vehicle was found Tuesday morning at the Mark Twain Lake State Park at the Highway 107 boat ramp.

Multiple law enforcement and emergency services are searching the area for Ms. Stroik.

Stroik was last seen Monday, November 12 at the Whole Foods Market in Town and Country. She was wearing an olive-green jacket, long pink scarf, navy colored pants with white zippers on the sides, and white tennis shoes.

Her car has been found abandoned overnight at Mark Twain Lake and the police are currently searching for her. She was last seen at the Whole Foods in Town & Country Monday morning. A park ranger found her car this morning nearly two hours away at Mark Twain Lake State Park.

On November 12, a state park ranger found Rafaella Stroik’s vehicle in a boat ramp parking lot off Highway 107 in Mark Twain State Park.

Stroik was last seen 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Whole Foods in Town and Country. She was wearing an olive green jacket, a long pink scarf and navy pants with white zippers on the sides. She had on white shoes and had her hair in a ponytail.

Not sure which boat ramp parking area within the State Park the vehicle was found in, but wanted to get an idea of the area in relation to her last seen location. This Google Maps shows the Whole Foods in Town and County, MO, in relation to a boat ramp at Mark Twain State Park.

The two locations are about 111 miles apart, and it's approximately a 2 hour drive.

EMPHASIS: MSHP Requests Assistance Locating A Missing Person

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, requests the public’s assistance with locating a missing person. On November 12, 2018, a state park ranger located Raffaella Maria Stroik’s vehicle unattended in rural Monroe County at the Mark Twain Lake State Park Highway 107 boat ramp parking lot. A computer check revealed no missing person report had been filed for Stroik. At approximately 8:50 a.m. on November 13, 2018, a Missouri state trooper checked the area and found the vehicle remained in the parking lot unattended.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources park rangers began investigating the incident further and determined Stroik was missing. A missing person report was filed. A search of the surrounding area is being completed.

Stroik is a 23-year-old white female from St. Louis, Missouri. She is 5’7” tall, weighs approximately 115 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. She normally wears her hair in a ponytail or a braid. Stroik was last seen at approximately 10:30 a.m. on November 12, 2018, at Whole Foods Market, 1160 Town and Country Crossing Drive, Town and Country, Missouri. She was wearing her hair in a ponytail and she was wearing an olive-green jacket, long pink scarf, navy colored pants with white zippers on the sides, and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information on the location of Stroik is asked to call the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 660-385-2132. Recent photographs of Stroik are attached to this release.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control investigators are being assisted by representatives of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Missouri Department of Conservation, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe City Fire Department, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Monroe City Ambulance District.

Authorities said it looked like her keys had intentionally been placed in a spot on her vehicle. That would be strange for an abductor to do so it is possible the keys had fallen to the ground and someone kindly put them on the vehicle. This would be a potential whiteness. Interesting clue.

Stroik is 5’7″ tall, weighing 115 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She lives in St. Louis but is originally from South Bend, Indiana.

Surveillance video in Town and Country showed Stroik was last seen wearing an olive-green jacket, long pink scarf, navy colored pants with white zippers on the sides, and white tennis shoes.

Stroik is a professional ballerina with the Saint Louis Ballet.

Police were cryptic about the keys. If they were found on the hood or roof, or anywhere in plain sight, then I agree with @gillglock's scenario above. If, however, the keys were placed out of sight, then IMO whoever drove the car last may have arranged for someone else to come retrieve the car or they were concerned about losing the keys. It's not unheard of for mountain bike riders to hide their key on top of one of the tires at a trailhead. I've read some boaters do it as well.

I'm curious if the car was found locked, and if it was a key ring containing both house and car keys.

The car was locked, and her personal belongings, including a cell phone, were found inside the vehicle.
