IMO, none of the accused appear to be meth-heads. Quite the opposite, in fact. Other drugs - maybe - but not meth.

Wonder if they did tox tests on these fellows? Not that it's really relevant to the charges, but I would be curious to know.....

Well, I don't mean to make light of it, but from seeing the sons at least in their orange jumpsuits, about the only drug they may be using is grass, which I understand can cause one to get the munchies, thus causing one to over-eat! :)

The dad, or grandfather, whatever, appears he's a little worse-for-wear.

Just an observation,
fran

PS...OTOH, from news articles, meth seems to destroy one's face with aging and open sores, etc.......................from observing one I later found out was on crack, SKINNY! Nahhhhh,............;)

PPS............I think they're just DIRTY OLD MEN! and DISGUSTING....

PPPS..............OH, I've read about rapists that use viagra.................MAYBE! grrrrrrrrrr, pffffttt

Yes Ma'am! I think their drug of choice was pedophilia.

I know there are abusers who have substance abuse/alcohol problems, but I also know there are those who do perverted things to little kids *stone.cold.sober*.

Especially the 'religious' types who don't drink, smoke, etc.

So yes, fran, ITA -- just disgusting, dirty old men.

Also I would like to add that IMO there is absolutely no connection between Randy Leach's disappearance and the Mohlers. I was very much involved in the Leach case back when it happened and have revisted it since this discussion started going in that direction and I just dont see any connection there.

I do not see a connection between Randy and the Mohlers either but I do see a connection with Star Boomer.
I did some searching on facebook and found some common vague connections between the people. I know they know some people that know these people It isnt really a sure sign that the Mohlers had anything to do with Star's case but it is one more connection. I cannot link the face book info for you but I searched names mentioned in the media.

I'm just throwing this out here not sure if it was posted, and to play devils advocate here...for some reason I do not feel like this man has anything to do with what he is being accused of...now the others are a different story, but this man I don't think so..

Sixth Mohler Man Headed To Missouri To Face Child Sex Charges

Darrel Mohler was released from Florida into the custody of Missouri officials at 11:34 a.m. on Monday morning

I have to say that I'm not seeing the Mohlers as poster boys for meth. Quite the contrary. They don't look like they've missed Sunday dinner in a while. I was actually very surprised when the author of the book on Randy Leach mentioned meth. I've recontacted her about this and she contacted the parents. Maybe there's some miscommunication. FWIIW she did call the TIPS line today about Randy and that really pleases me. All I want to do is shine the light on a possibility. Let LE check it out.

Texas Mist, Fran, and Fairy--I agree, the "high" was little girls. Sickening.

But let's not forget that somewhere, there's got to be a large man who's missing. If the info the girls gave about other murders and trophies is correct, there will be more. I checked for towns named Alabama (on the off chance that it's a town name) in all states today and couldn't find any probable matches for a missing Jeff. It would be helpful to know what was in that particular box. I have to say, though, that the name Jeff worries me. First, it is Darrel Mohler's son--the one who is the youth minister in Florida. Secondly, it is the name of Jeff Lundgren who massacred the Avery family in April 1989 and was so involved with the RLDS. That name raises my hackles.

When are they going to release more info? Why so much at first and then nothing?

Mysticrose--Have you read the probable cause statement:

http://www.fox4kc.com/media/acrobat/2009-11/50484435.pdf

You certainly can disagree but I find the details remarkable. The fact that the girls disagree on the date but the description of the whispering and the threat that the waterbed might burst and drown the girls in their sleep haunts me. Those don't sound like manufactured memories.

And remember, that Darrel has lied several times and made odd statements. He swears he hasn't had contact with the Missouri Mohlers in "decades" and yet Texas Mist found a speeding ticket he received in the area a few years ago. He also says that,
"If I was there long enough to rape them (the children), I would've known about it." He later contradicted himself saying that he'd been through Missouri to "bury his mother in Indiana" and then said he'd been there only "once, maybe twice".

I've found it interesting that the girls talk about the summers being the "worst time" and that that is when they went to the farmhouse for cousins camp. Both Darrel Mohler and his son, JMohler have been in Missouri in the early summer but they seem to deny it.

Let's see how this plays out. You may be right. I'm not so sure.

Thanks Missizzy I missed it I'll read it now...:)

Now I remember reading it...perhaps I am wrong, there was just something about his demeanor and body language that made me think something wasn't right...but I have been wrong before ...lol

This is such a horrific crime, those children suffered terribly and I can not seem to ever find forgivness in my heart for 🤬🤬🤬 like these men can't and won't. It would be apparent to me that these son's of Sr. I am sure suffered the same fate as these girls as children. I just wonder if it all will come out down the line, these men learned this carp from some one unfortunatley....

Are you thinking of "roofies"/Rohypnol or GHB? They are both known as "date rape" drugs. Both can be given to children or adults to sedate them. I believe they're also considered amnesiacs, aren't they? Where you can't remember anything. Scary.

There was discussion of GHB in our trial as two of our kids mentioned taking a powder that was mixed in with some candy. They said that it made them feel "buzzy" and silly. I researched it at the time and learned that GHB could be bought at health food stores in the late 90s. Not sure if you can still get it.

Porn, religious materials found in Mohler Jr.’s home

http://www.richmond-dailynews.com/news.php?id=3892

"That same day, detectives recovered various other items from elsewhere in the home. They ranged from an issue of Muscle & Fitness magazine, two bank ledgers and one black address book, to a copy of Penthouse Forum, 56 VHS tapes, two cassette tapes and eight pornographic VHS tapes."

IWannaKnow--That's really frightening. I hadn't seen that. I was focused on the nasty juxtaposition of the Mormon story books, the Jaimee Foxworth porn, and the "incest" mags. I don't know about you, but Burrell Jr. does not look like a Muscle and Fitness guy. I'm sure there's provocative photos of well built women in them but that hasn't seemed to be his interest. He's more into kids and animals. This is the reason that WS is so great--lots of eyes and lots of angles.

I wonder how hard GHB is to get these days. IIRC, it was available in a can with a scoop. Guys would add a little powder to their power drinks. At some point it was determined that it also sedated people and reports started coming in that it was being used for illicit purposes. It was banned in 1990. But somehow, our kids' rapist or his friend got hold of some in the late 90's. I'm going to do some checking and see what I can find out about buying it online or from an ad in a magazine. I wish we knew the date on that mag.

That was a good catch!!

Not too hard to find!! There are new alternatives which are legal and say that they produce the same effects as GHB but I'm not sure of that. However, I found this:

http://www.drugbuyers.com/freeboard/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=602963

and a recipe:

http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/science-biology-pharmacology/need-ghb-recipe-19905.html

"The actual process of making GHB - gamma hydroxybutyric - is considered some of the simplest home chemistry possible in the grey/black market, which is one of the main reasons for GHB - gamma hydroxybutyric - 's pority and wide spread use. The process consists of putting lactone into the heat-resistant container, adding a small amount of water, and then mixing NaOH slowly into the solution. This is usually done over a hot water bath to make it easier for the sodium hydroxide to go into solution. The solution of NaOH and lactone are heated for 10-30 minutes over simmering water in order to force any residual lactone and NaOH to react....."

and kits (just add water):

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/archive/index.php/t-53849.html

I'm fairly sure you can still find it if you are willing to pay. What's more concerning is that you could buy it at any health food store in the late 80's. No doubt Independence had a few of those or they bought it through an ad or catalog.

Of course, I guess it's totally possible that Burrell Jr. just wanted to hone up on his weight-lifting skills and thus bought that mag. Just hmmmm.

http://www.a1b2c3.com/drugs/ghb_05.htm

An entire overview of the drug (for users) is available at this link. But here's some interesting facts:

"GHB is has come to be used in Europe as a general anesthetic, a treatment for insomnia and narcolepsy (a daytime sleeping disorder), an aid to childbirth (increasing strength of contractions, decreasing pain, and increasing dilation of the cervix), a treatment for alcoholism and alcohol withdrawal syndrome, and for many other uses.

During the 1980s, GHB was widely available over-the-counter in health-food stores, purchased largely by body-builders for its ability to stimulate growth hormone release which aids in fat reduction and muscle building. In the last few years it has been gaining popularity as a recreational drug offering a pleasant, alcohol-like, hangover-free high with potent prosexual effects."

"....it does not produce complete surgical anesthesia except in children [Laborit, 1964]."

"Most users find that GHB induces a pleasant state of relaxation and tranquility. Frequent effects are placidity, sensuality, mild euphoria, and a tendency to verbalize. Anxieties and inhibitions tend to dissolve into a feeling of emotional warmth, wellbeing, and pleasant drowsiness."

"We have identified four main prosexual properties:

1) disinhibition,
2) heightening of the sense of touch (tactility),
3) enhancement of male erectile capacity, and
4) increased intensity of orgasm.

Perhaps the foremost prosexual property of GHB is disinhibition. Some users suggest that GHB's other sexual benefits are secondary effects, made possible (or at least amplified) by this loosening of psychosomatic constraint. A number of people have commented that this disinhibition is particularly marked among women."

"GHB is growing in popularity and seems to be widely available in the underground gray market."

Mysticrose--I just reread your post about Darrel and I wanted to say that I agree about the body language of most of the men not seeming "off". I don't think any of these guys would cause me to take a second look. They're not creepy like Garrido or Kraig Kahler (who was just arrested for killing his wife and daughters). Those guys look spooky.

No, the Mohler men look like what they present themselves to be--hard working, church going, regular middle aged guys. Burrell Sr. is a little strange looking but I think that he's ill and that could be why. Darrel has worked as a prison guard, been in the military, and worked as an electrical contractor. His looks are almost cliche for those professions.

Isn't that the scary part, though? Regular looking people do evil things. The more normal looking you are, the longer you can get away with. Apparently, church attendance adds extra points.

Another good overview on GHB. Everybody needs to be aware of this very real danger.

http://www.salon.com/health/feature/2000/08/17/ghb/index.html

".........GHB may be the new weapon of choice for sexual predators. Easy to make and cheap to purchase (on the street, a "dose" of GHB can go for as little as $5 or $10), GHB makes rape much easier. Instead of all the effort involved in abducting someone at gun or knife point, less than a teaspoon of GHB can render the woman of your choice vulnerable to assault within 10 to 20 minutes. Not only won't she fight back, she won't even remember being attacked, and may not recall your face at all. Plus GHB exits the body within 12 hours of being taken. So by the time the victim realizes what has happened (if she realizes what's happened), there'll be no evidence that GHB was involved. Unless, of course, the rapist was unwise enough to videotape the event."

and

"It's also known as a general anesthetic and as a cervical dilation aid in childbirth."

Does this last statement worry everyone as much as it does me? I can't find anything about GHB being used to induce abortion but it sure sounds like a very real possibility. I wonder if an EMT would know that?

We live in a college town and every couple of years, there's a rash of GHB cases at our local clubs. Our most recent "Take Back the Night" event included education for women (and men--GHB often shows up at gay clubs, too) on "clubbing" safely.

My half-brother molested 4 of his 7 kids. He works for General Motors, lives in a nice house, goes to church and always has a new car. His youngest son is now in prison for child molestation. They look normal, because to them, there's nothing wrong with what they do. Their 'needs' are all that's important.
My nephew told me that after his dad sodomized him,he told him that ALL men do it, they just don't talk about it. Sick 🤬🤬🤬.
My biggest compliment was when he called me a little b!#!#. I love that he hates me.

Muscle & Fitness

Muscle & Fitness has a more mainstream focus than its companion publication, Flex. It offers many exercise and nutritional tips, while at the same time advertising a variety of nutritional supplements from companies like BSN, and others.
***********************************************************
I can't find anything that says when this magazine started being published under "Muscle & Fitness" (it started as another muscle mag in the 1940's), but I found an ad on the web for a vintage 1981 copy.."Muscle & Fitness January 1981 - Special collector's issue, over 250 color photos."
www.trulyhuge.com/musclemags.htm

Nevermind - here it is! "Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, before founding the IFBB, Weider published the first issue of Your Physique magazine in 1936, when he was 17 years old. Thirty years later, in 1966, the publication was renamed Muscle Builder magazine. The name changed again to Muscle & Fitness in 1980." [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Weider[/ame]

CHICANA - "They look normal, because to them, there's nothing wrong with what they do. Their 'needs' are all that's important." That is the second time in two days I've seen that written about pedophiles, and I believe it is the absolute truth. They do not care about anything but themselves and their sick little *desires*.

You are definitely doing something right if they hate you. Good job.
