Mojen--This is from the "Theories" section here:

http://www.randyleach.com/

"A young man from Edwardsville, Kansas stated that the first part of July, he, two white males, a white female, early 20's, and a red headed girl (white female, early 20's) went to a cave [the Loring Drive, National Cold Storage, Inc. cave site, north of Desoto] about a 5–10 minute walk east of the Lenape Cemetery [also north of Desoto]. When they got to the cave, they went down a 2–3 foot hole partially obscured by a tree, then into the cave. The young man stated that inside the cave was the body of a white male hanging from a rope that was attached to the ceiling of the cave. He stated that he could not tell who the white male was because it looked as though the face had been bashed in with a hammer. He said that when the face was pointed out to him, someone said, "See his face. How would you like to look like that? You’d have to have a closed casket, wouldn't you?" The young man stated that when he was taken to the cave to view the body, one of the subjects he was with was pushing him towards the hanging body. He also stated that there was a 'bad odor' and that it was all through the cave. He stated that when he was in the cave, he could hear a sound that sounded like running water as though there was a creek or stream running through the cave. The caves had not been thoroughly searched, and now the site where the body has hanging has been bulldozed over. When given a polygraph test, it was shown that the young man's accounts were truthful."

I don't know if these are actual tips called in or rumors. Does this tell you about where these caves are? There's A LOT of info floating around about Randy Leach.

Also, I don't know what sort of client you are referring to, but have you considered calling LE with the info you have? It might be worth a shot. My guess is that the woman was telling the truth.

Roy Shumate Jr. died of a sudden heart attack? Did you find out how old he was? April? Hmmm.

So, Paul Cool is connected to Blue Springs, MO? That's where Roland Mohler lived before arrest with a late 20's relative or person with the same last name.

Also, I see Paul Cool listed as having worked for the IRS and in internet support.

Wintergreen--This is moving fast today and I'm trying to go back and tie up some loose ends. You asked about the Sackett series. It's a series of paperbacks by Louis L'Amour. The books follow the escapades of brothers throughout the West--IIRC in the late 1800s. I think a few have been made into films--not sure.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_L'Amour#Sackett_series

Some of the books were listed on the search warrants that were released today which Texas Mist so kindly linked to. That's where the maps are also. There was a comment that the girls remembered codes being in the books.

One of my sons used to read Louis L'Amour and I remember the Sacketts having traveled great distances. My son would read me passages describing different areas of the West. Possibly there's some sort of link to locations. The search warrants only list and catalog the maps. There's no link to any map that I know of. HTH

In a different direction, for a moment, as I am very certain that there's just got to be some connection to the Jeffrey Lundgren case:

http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q...uw2kOa&sig=AHIEtbRDTepvy9NiHQXTP4HCSDLvFLTCAA

This is the link to the Clemency Request for Jeffrey Lundgren. In reading it, I learned that after the Avery murders, he married one of his follower's wives, a woman named Kathryn (she served one year for obstructing). Her husband was so enraged over Lundgren stealing her away, he turned Lundgren in. At some point, Lundgren's first wife, Alice, divorced him (I can't tell if it was before or after prison) and Lundgren married Kathryn. Kathryn's husband did no time. Alice got several life sentences.

Anyway, in Lundgren's last statement before his execution, he professed his love for "his" Kathryn. Kathryn had originally been from Missouri and that is why the group returned there after a short stay in WV after the murders. They all stayed on a farm in Holden, MO. She also had a child by Lundgren. The clemency report notes that this child is the only one of his children whom Jeff maintained a connection to.

Kathryn and that child (now young adult) still live in the area and use their legal names, it appears. They also live near a Community of Christ Church. Her website can be easily found. I wonder if she has information for LE?

Just a thought. I read a blog last night about two young men who had been suspects concerning the disappearance of Randy Leach. They wrote this 20 years after he went missing--2008. If you'll scroll halfway down the page, you'll find a photo of two knives in a box. The narrative explains the significance of those knives. I have no idea if this is in any way related to the knives found in the recent search but wanted to throw it out there. One of the commenters below the blog actually identifies the unusual knife.

<snip>

In an interview with a Jackson County Sheriff Deputy, one of the victims in the Lafayette County child sex investigation said she witnessed people other than family members being sexually molested by the Mohler men currently in custody. She also claimed she witnessed people being killed.

Another granddaughter told detectives that the murders happened near the Missouri River and that her father, Burrell "Ed" Mohler, Jr. would flip a ring in the air whenever she witnessed a killing.

According to court documents, one woman said her grandfather, Mohler, Sr., had a wooden box containing necklaces, rings and broaches that she claims belonged to these other victims of the Mohler men.

.....

One granddaughter also told detectives that the Mohler men used codes to identify names, addresses, phone numbers, monetary amounts and locations in books.

Roy Shumate Jr. died of a sudden heart attack? Did you find out how old he was? April? Hmmm.

I have been searching -- no luck so far...I did find (I think) where Shumate Sr. was born in 1930 (making him near the age of Mohler Sr.) and that he had been a justice of the peace -- but I accidentally closed the tab & now can't find that info again...ugh!!

re: Lundgren connection -- I wish we could find some answers to this...Right now I can only think that M.Sr. grew up w/ hate in his psyche that escalated into what we're hearing in the accusations.

I don't know which is more frightening -- people who are blatantly scary on a daily basis, or people who are "nice" with many dark, evil secrets. <shudder>

No one believed our client. The Guardian ad Litem thought she was crazy. She eventually was arrested trying to sneak her kids over the border "to get away from their abuser".
I am haunted by this more and more as the days go by. What if she was telling the truth?? The Court (Jackson County, Missouri) gave Dad sole custody. They are LDS. They live in Independence, Missouri.

Mojen, This is a heartbreaking story and I try to imagine what the mother must be going through even now. I wonder, too, if LE might be very interested hearing about this. Thank you for sharing.

I just went over the search warrants again and noticed a set of blue prints. Wonder what they were for? Has there been any mention of the fact that Burrell Sr. built the farmhouse out in Bates City? It's kind of an A-frame (IIRC, it's described that way in one or more of the documents) and that style wasn't typically built before the late 60's. He bought the property in 1974. Anybody know if he built the house? One of the saddest entries has to be:

"1 legal size brown folder with mag pics of children, women and animals"

It just sounds so tawdry and sleazy and juvenile. These alleged victims (that word's getting harder and harder to type) lived around so much hate and filth. What happened to love and innocence? I just imagine Burrell Sr. sitting in his basement, where he's been banished, snipping pictures out of magazines that turn him on. All this after he's ruined/nearly ruined untold people's lives. Just a visual I can't get out of my head.

If these men were so high and mighty in their church, why didn't they listen to a single thing that was taught? I'm sorry but that entry really makes me sad.

Wow -- there's a suspected serial killer or killers! in Missouri -- dumping bodies in the Missouri river in Lafayette County:

Missouri River Killer (10+) AKA "Independence Avenue Killer". Apparently a serial killer has been dumping into the Missouri River the bodies of Kansas City women from red light district. On October 10, 1996, the body of 21-year-old Christy Fugate was pulled from the rushing waters of the Missouri river near Dover in Lafayette County, Missouri. Since then, nine more bodies has appeared downriver.
more here http://www.mayhem.net/Crime/killersatlarge.html

Bodies of close to 20 prostitutes have been found in the Missouri River over the last 20 years, although police still do no know if the murders are the work a single serial killer or multiple murderers.

http://blogkc.com/archives/2004/04/cold-case-squad-catches-a-serial-killer/

Ten women’s bodies were found in the Missouri River between Oct 1996 and April 1998.

This was supposedly after the BMJr's kids abuse ended, but still makes me wonder if there's any connection.

ETA: found this which makes me wonder if the it's actually the Blackwater River that BMjr vic(s) are referring to:

the North Fork of the Blackwater River at this point is 7.0 miles (11.5 km) south of Bates City, Missouri.....
Bates City is a city in Lafayette County, Missouri, Missouri, United States. The population was 245 at the 2000 census....
and about 29 miles (48 km) Southeast of Kansas CityKansas City

It hit me hard, too, because there's not any good explanation I can think of. As for the A-frame house the word on the street is that BM Sr started building it around the time of the land purchase but left it unfinished for many years.

Do you know the name of the caves? There are some right up 291 Hwy from Indp. Center, but Randy was from Kansas, and there are some over there, too.

When this news of this case broke, I immediately thought of a client I had a few years ago. She was LDS and spoke of sexual abuse going on between her husband and their four young daughters. Husband's aunt knew of the abuse, but was a "good woman" and knew "that's just what happened".

I dealt with the family court in Jackson County, they're totally lacking in common sense. They are good at covering up their messes though.
They said I was mentally unstable because I sent an e-mail to the governor at 10:30 pm. I'm serious, they were trying to dispute what was in the e-mail and couldn't so they had to attack my mental stability.Their logic was that it wasn't normal for me to try to contact the governor that late at night.
Calling the governor at home at 10:30pm would have been crazy, but an e-mail ??

This is my hometown and I almost joined the RLDS church when I was in my early 20's. We went to the home of an 'elder' in Blue Springs who had a ton of kids. I wish I could remember his name.
I backed out right before the baptism. They tried to convince my now ex-husband by telling him that he could work on getting me to 'follow' him, but if I didn't we weren't really married anyway since we weren't married in the temple.
They were really strict, no soda, coffee or alcohol. One thing that really bugged me was that you were supposed to fast for one Sunday out of the month and you would give what you would have spent on food to the church.
Like I'm gonna tell my kids - sorry you don't get to eat today.
Plus it seemed like they put more emphasis on the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith than the Bible and God.

I mean no disrespect to the mormon religion, at the time I thought there was no way I could be that good or self-sacrificing enough to be one.

This might be a wild card but I'll post to see if anyone thinks there could be a connection. Remember The Children of God or The Family...one of the most well known cults? Well, while trying to nail down just where the "pamphlet about child sexual abuse" (in the recent search warrants) came from, I came upon this:

Note: Please be aware that this article describes child sex abuse IMO.

http://xfamily.org/index.php/Story_of_Davidito

And more on the subject of the child, actually named Ricky Rodriguez:

[ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricky_Rodriguez[/ame]

Even if this is not connected, look a the time frames and the practices. The sexual interaction of children and adults was encouraged and said to be a God given gift. Notice that David Berg was considered The Father and The Prophet and had many women at his disposal.

"The group published a childcare manual in January 1982 that described the education, home life, and care of Rodriguez. The 762-page book also included at least a dozen photographs depicting the child engaged in sexual activity with his governesses."

"Copies of the original still exist in the collections of former members, some of whom have provided them to law enforcement agencies."

Just wondering here, if some religious nuts in Missouri got hold of a seemingly "religious treatise" on the raising of children.

I'd call one of the hot-lines which I'm sure they must have set up for the Mohler case. Remember how SNAP begged people to call LE directly? I think that might be the best bet.

Sending the Governor an email late at night sounds like something I would do but they're probably being overly careful due to terrorist threats. You are definitely not unstable but concerned. Good grief, look what turning away has done for the victims--absolutely nothing!!

They are bound to have someone working those phones tomorrow, even though it's a holiday. I actually have kind of been hoping that seeing family might spur some new disclosures.

Remember what we teach kids? Tell someone and if they don't listen, tell someone else. You need to get someone to listen to your story. Please don't give up.
