I've been wondering about the discovery of the Jaimee Foxworth porn. I wonder if the man, LK, who was arrested and released might be related to a girl who could be a victim. As far as we know, all the Mohler children are biological children and would be caucasian. If Burrell Sr. developed an interest in young women of color, I wonder if he would have befriended LK to get close to one of his relatives. Just a thought.

Mysteriew--I wanted to correct something in a previous post of yours. Jeffrey Lundgren did serve time in Ohio but he was executed there in Oct. 2006. His wife and son are doing multiple life terms. Here's a link about his execution. Also notice that there's a link on this page to "cult photos". Those photos list the names of the cult members if anyone would like to sleuth them out.

http://www.newsnet5.com/news/10142468/detail.html

If my math is correct, Lundgren was moving about between Missouri, Ohio, Southern California, and West Virginia throughout the 80s. He was finally stripped of his RLDS lay pastor status in 1987 but continued on with his core followers.

I was interested in the most recent search and the retrieval of the box marked Jeff/Alabama. I can't find anything to link Lundgren with Alabama or the Mohler family at all, though.

One thing I did find is that the barn in Kirtland, OH where the Avery family were slaughtered has been torn down and a new church built on the land. The church is called New Promise and doesn't look to have any connection to the Community of Christ. I have very mixed feelings about that spot being a church. I understand the idea but I still find it creepy. I don't know how you'd be able to move past that or what you would tell new members and children. It seems like a vibrant church, however, so maybe it's a very good thing.

Just wanted to clarify that Jeff Lundgren met his "maker", whomever that might be.

OK, but the point I was trying to make was that the period before Lundgrund left for Ohio 1981 to 1984, Lundgrund was actively collecting a following. After he left Ohio he was on the run and would have been presumably less active in taking up with strangers. That time period is also important in that that is the same time period that the victims seem to have been talking about some of the abuse.

Check out the comment at 11/25/2009 11:06:30 PM:
http://www.kansascity.com/637/story/1592354.html

Are they making an assumption that someone from the church treated the kids, or is there a rumor that someone from the church treated them?

Another commenter says that the reason the defendants don't have attorneys yet, is because this is a rural area. That they will be using public defenders and that there aren't enough pd's to go around. They are saying that agreements will have to be worked out with pd's in other county's and communities.

Ok I understand the hunt for the wooden boxes with jewelry in them, but what is the significance of the treasure chest with the coins? Assuming they are only taking things that were related to a crime or might be related to a crime, what is the significance?

The jewelry wouldn't have to be valuable because they could never sell it. The jewelry's only value would as a trophy, a souvenir of sorts of the connection to the victim it was taken from and the memory of their fate.

mysteriew - from the same link
"Also, the victim told a detective Mohler Sr. owned a wooden box that contained numerous old coins that he referred to as “the treasure.” "

Yes but what would be the criminal significance? I thought that in order for LE to take things from a home, that they had to believe that the item might be or could be related to a crime. For instance in a missing person/suspected murder case, they might remove knives from the suspects home. But they wouldn't take the silverware.

This is the link to the Search Warrant for Jared Mohler's house and garage. You will note that it is in an expanded format in a PDF. Scroll down to very bottom, after the list, and you will find a description of just why they need to conduct the search. It discusses the habits of child porn possession. Very interesting.

I remember either a comment after one of the articles, or a Topix comment of a woman stating one of the Mohlers was an official in some capacity at the church in Blue Springs, I think she said he led the congregation. Maybe I'm full of poo. Maybe I've got the town wrong. IIRC she said he was filling in for someone else. I've looked for this, not sure now if it was linked here or if I read it and thought "hmmmm". Did I dream this, because I haven't been able to find it again.

was it a post here -- #37 ?

<snip>

I live 3 blocks from the Community of Christ. Roland Mohler was the minister at my mother in law's funeral in September at the Reorganized church of jesus christ and latter day saints.

For IWannaKnow--Here's a repost of an earlier post of mine:

Post #540--Here's a clip from a comment on this page:

http://www.topix.net/forum/source/fo...E66V12OI55I28V

"i was shocked to realize that i went to church as a young girl with all of the Mohlers. Mr Mohler Sr was our Pastor at the RLDS Churgh in Platte Woods."

Platte Woods does have a Community of Christ (RLDS) Church and is located 42 miles from Bates City, the location of the Mohler's prior home, where the investigation is occurring.

http://www.cofchrist.org/directory/states/missouri.asp

To clarify, Platte Woods is an incorporated section of Independence, MO and there are 25 Community of Christ congregations in and around Independence--all within a short distance of Platte Woods. I have no idea to which congregation this woman is referring.

"She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints near Bates City. Survivors include her husband, Burrell E. Mohler Sr. of the home; four sons, Burrell E. Mohler Jr., Independence, David A. Mohler , Lamoni, Jared L. Mohler , Washington, Mo., and Roland N. Mohler , Greenwood in Jackson County"

So, in 1991, upon her death, AM lived in Bates City and was going to church near Bates City. Isn't this smack dab in the middle of the reported times of the abuse? Maybe the commenter who spoke of Burrell Sr. being her pastor in Platte Woods was speaking of a different time or the lay pastors moved around. We also have no idea where or when JM went to church elders. My guess is we'll know soon.

Yes, Missizzy, that is the post I was referring to. Had Blue Springs and Platte Woods confused. Duh!

mysteriew - It doesn't state it directly. It is more direct in this headline:
Women Claim Mohler Men Killed, Kept 'Treasures' From Victims
http://www.fox4kc.com/wdaf-mohler-murder-accusations-112509,0,3479214.story
The story doesn't go any further into detail about the "treasure", maybe we will get more info later, but allegedly the coins are the "treasure". How many people would carry around old coins...

I'd like everyone to have the text of the template used in the search warrant. I can't find one I can cut and paste, however. I did find this link:

http://books.google.com/books?id=tv...resnum=1&ved=0CAgQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=&f=false

Start with page 525 and read the numbered items. Note #11 and how that correlates with the folder found in the most recent search with the cut-out photos. In fact, almost every item correlates with something we've seen in the search warrants and/or the probable cause documents. I HIGHLY suggest perusing this list and the narrative following the list.

This is from:

"The Sexual Exploitation of Children: A Practical Guide to Assessment, Investigation, and Intervention, Second Edition discusses the new and different developments in the manifestation of problems involved in investigation and assessment of sexual cases and offers advice on dealing with these issues. Although many of the difficulties involved in investigation and assessment of sexual abuse allegations have remained unchanged since the first edition of this book appeared in 1987, the manner in which investigations are conducted must adapt to these new and different developments."

I believe that this is where the template originated.

I sat here trying to figure out why the info linked to above sounded so familiar. I finally figured it out. I just crawled into our attic and drug out our case file (a massive box) and there it was. This info was transcribed into the court transcript. Our trial was in 1999 and my guess is that LE and DA's have been using this for quite a while. Well, there you go. This nasty stuff is going back in the attic.

It's not just a template ie a copy of info. It's the "profile" for a SO!! They have them pegged, don't they?

Cleo--I know just what you are talking about concerning the pamphlet. I found a stash of something like this concerning STDs in my Dad's underwear drawer (sorry Daddy). I found them in the late 60's and they'd probably been produced during WWII. They seemed SOOOO nasty and dirty. I even remember the little old bearded man. The ones I found were printed on cheap pink paper. He was teaching a bunch of soldiers about disease and girls "over there". I did some searching and found a company, Channing-Bete, that has been producing helpful "safety" pamphlets since the forties. They have/had one titled, "What Everyone Should Know About the Sexual Abuse of Children". I looked and found that doctors' offices, churches, and schools would offer these.

I think two things could have happened. Either, the Mohlers picked one up so they could evaluate if their girls looked as if they displayed any of the public signs or a church leader or caseworker gave them the pamphlet thinking they needed it. Possibly, Brother Tonga gave it to them. I've even looked on Ebay to see if they have an old one but no luck. That's my best guess.

As to The Family and their lurid "Davidito" book (over 700 pages?? That's not a child raising manual, that's child porn!!), I've never seen that. I would be VERY interested in finding out where you might have seen that as it sounds as if those are rare. I think The Family figured out pretty quickly that the world was not accepting of these practices. I guess the social experiment failed miserably when Ricky grew up and killed his governess and himself. The poor guy was probably so confused and conflicted.

It's just a thought, but I wonder if there was a Children of God/The Family commune in Missouri at the time which the Mohler guys got interested or involved in. If they were already experimenting with this type of lifestyle, I can see them wanting the book. It's a stretch to jump from the LDS/RLDS over to The Family, though. I don't believe that The Family had much biblical training (other than what Berg went around spouting off). It certainly wasn't mainstream. I'd think that it would have been thought to have been tremendously "hippie" and counter-culture at the time in Missouri. The Mohlers don't strike me that way but maybe they borrowed some dogma.

I also wonder if these kids had problems in school and the community. If they were highly sexualized and traumatized, I just don't see how they could be even threatened to behave. However, we've seen many posts on Topix saying that they were great and well-rounded kids. That doesn't make sense.

The pamphlets that I recall seeing were written by David Berg. I went back to that link that you posted last night and followed several links. I came across some scanned pages from some of his pamphlets. Those are the pictures that I recall seeing with some of my schoolmates.

My father was very much into the "hippy/flowerchild" movement of the late '60's and through the '70's. I know that we associated with many of his friends who had children. Many of them were living a communal lifestyle. I kind of have a feeling that it was at one of those homes where I saw those pamphlets. At least, that is what I keep going back to in my mind's eye.

As for the book, Davidito, I had a very disturbing thought when I woke up this morning. This is not something that I have ever shared publicly, so I am a little uncomfortable about it, but I am almost feeling as though it will be cathartic for me to do so.

One of the main reasons (there were many) that I divorced my son's father was because he told me that if we ever had a daughter he "would teach her how to please a man," and he expected me to "teach our son how to please a woman. After all, what better teacher could a child have than their own parents." My son was born in 1982, the same year that the book, Davidito, was published. My ex made these comments to me in 1985.

At the time he said these things to me, I was pregnant again (I lost the baby due to miscarriage) and I was flabbergasted. What a revolting and sick thing to say--especially to someone who had been sexually abused numerous times by two different family members. I left him three days later.

Now, I am wondering if it was HIM that showed me that book. It advocated what he wanted in our family. I have no idea where he could have attained such a book. Given that I found a huge stash of other very disturbing pornography (including bestiality) as I was cleaning out our home in preparation for our divorce, nothing would surprise me.

I think I'm going to be sick.

Cleo (((hugs))) I'll hold your hand while you throw up and hand you a cold washcloth. You are one brave woman and your son is blessed to have you. I am so so happy that you walked. Bad things would have happened. The particular porn you found was ominous IMO.

My thoughts are with you.

Back to Randy Leach, the missing 17 year old from Linwood, Kansas who went missing in April '88. Here's a link to some "out there" theories about his disappearance:

http://www.lawrence.com/news/2006/oct/02/bizzare_events_surrounding_case/

"Steve Daugherty, one of the last people certainly seen with Randy the night he disappeared, showed police in March of 1989 a severed foot in a tennis shoe on the banks of the Kansas River. He said he found it while strolling. Police searched the area for other remains but couldn't find any. They concluded the foot was not Randy's. Daugherty, in his 30s when Randy disappeared, has since died."

Isn't it a huge coincidence that Daugherty found a severed foot? I find that almost unbelievable. I'm going to research this and see if I can find more. I don't know how far away this would have been from Bates City. Notice that Daugherty was much older than Randy. There's lots of doozies on this site. Who knows which one might have some truth in it, given new information.

Some even more bazaar info and personal recollections concerning the disappearance of Randy Leach:

http://elephantintheparlor.org/forum/index.php?topic=162.0

"i had previously been to this area as our church pastor and family, owned the property across the road from this location and would hold sunrise service on his property each Easter.

This site also gives extensive details about locations for locals.

Missizzy - that link you posted claims Randy's German Shepherd disappeared around Aug. 1988 and was never seen again...and I just checked the probable cause statement for BMsr and the *incident* is said to have occured between March 1, 1988 and March 21, 1995, FWIW.
http://www.fox4kc.com/media/acrobat/2009-11/50431694.pdf

ETA - I guess I didn't understand that the party he attended was right across from the caves the guy claimed to be taken to...at least that is how I'm reading it. Yes or No?

IWannaKnow--I hadn't thought of the dog!! I was just sure whoever did in poor Randy, must have also hurt the dog. Or I thought that possibly the dog wondered off due to loneliness. They so often do that when their masters go missing. That's a good catch.

I've contacted a person who is doing some research on Randy Leach's disappearance and she's going to be looking at our threads. I have a feeling she has a lot more info than we've seen. Hopefully, LE will be in touch with her and the Leach family.

As to the caves, I really have no idea. I'm in Oregon and can only look at maps. The thing that struck me is what a small proximity we're talking about. I lived in Central Texas in a small town in the 70s and 80s and it was nothing to drive 25 miles. I think, with traffic now, people forget that.

I'm especially interested in that comment about the property owned by the pastor that I bolded above. I'm not sure if that is where the Erwin house was (the location of the party Randy went to--it burned down not long after he disappeared) or if that is just another location that Randy supposedly was. I have a feeling that this young man's disappearance has taken on an urban legend aura. That's kind of a shame as his parents desperately need the truth!!

I'll keep you all posted about what I find out. I think Cleo and Mojen are local. Can you guys answer questions about locations?
