Gonna go ahead and say it again...
It wasn't actually confirmed the Hadden kid was an informant until AFTER he turned up dead. So that might be standard protocol that they won't release that information unless they turn up dead. Also a great reason for parents to not say much, in case she is alive, but understand the odds. Also a great reason for people around her to not say much as if she was a CI, she was watching them.

It honestly seems to me like this is really the most plausible solution in this case.
If she had left a suicide note, that would be publicized. If there was foul play, that would be publicized. If there was an accident, wouldn't they say that? Why would they say no foul play if they have no idea? They must have some idea of what is going on and are trying to reassure the public.
