Mom sells teen's car after finding alcohol

  • #81
All I read was that she found "booze" under the seat.
In the interview I posted above she was asked well what did you do with it, her reply I drank it and it was good....LOLOLOL

Mom•Logic: After finding the alcohol, what did you do with it?
Jane: Truthfully... I drank it, and it was awesome! It was called pomegranate fusion—and the next time I go to a bar, I am going to order it!

Then she drank the alcohol???? Way to be a role model.

If she was trying to make a point or teach him a lesson...she should have made him pour it all out. Watch his money that he spent on it go down the drain.

She really sounds like a good, fair mom from the interview.

IMO she did make a point by selling the car..LOL I mean he was 19 and i am sure she is like late 30,s early 40's which makes her legal drinking age. Plus I am sure she didnt get in her car and drive around

ETA hopefully she drank it in front of him..LOL

But he said it wasn't his alcohol and i doubt she got behind the wheel of a car after she'd drunk it! :D

really, "Way to go, mom"! :woohoo:

ok indy, i see where you and other people have said that there was an agreement... but am i misreading the yahoo article, but i am missing that?
it just seems like an extreme reaction to me.

sure, if mom comes and says in advance - if i see alcohol in the car it is GONE... fine, your choice I guess. but if it were my kid, I would probably park it for a couple months if there was no advance agreement and if i was faced with the choice.

but i wouldn't do something stressful ON me (selling the car, paying for an expensive advertisement, taking a loss on a car, taking time out of my day and life to sell the thing) to go and punish them when it in part is a punishment on me!! especially if in 6 months or 12 months i might need to buy them a new one at that age...

mom sounds like she is eating it up though in the interview article just posted.

I take it your not a parent, right?
With all the teen fatal car accidents from underage drinking, that Mom should get an award.....JMO

I totally agree! This mom should be commended for this act!
This is a lesson that her son will never forget, and I'm sure one day he
will thank her for it!

  Way to go, Mom!!!

That still just encourages the drinking enviroment.
Like telling a child not to hit then spanking them.

IMO if she had Bad parenting skills she would have done nothing. I see that a lot as well.

So by your statement no parent of legal drinking age should drink???

Honestly, if you think about it...now he has to bum rides from everyone to get rides to class/work (if he gets a job)/errands and weekend activies. What happens if he needs a ride home and he gets in the car with a drunk driver and they crash??

He might have been a responsible young guy & not drink and drive. He could of been the DD for his friends...

I think her point, which is one all should follow IMO, is dont have booze in the car. He agreed and lost his car because he couldnt follow the rules

He could be the DD, but the point is, he is only 19 and he should not even be drinking. I am not saying it doesn't happen, but that doesn't mean that this mother wants to aid in breaking the law.
