Moms Say Geico Pig Commercial Promotes Bestiality

  • #81
I think I have a very good sense of humor, and a lot of things that bother others don't bother me, but this commercial has irritated me ever since the first time I saw it. They portray a woman who seems frustrated and disappointed she can't make out with a pig. A. PIG.

I agree -- I was like :what: and what the heck does this have to do with insurance.

It's all about getting our attention. They got it alright - but in a negative light. However, I don't see a new trend of women seeking out pigs for sex though. :floorlaugh:

speaking English and Cantonese.

A girl's talking Po doll was thought to be saying "****** ******" as well as "fatty, fatty". (Supporters of the interpretation of Tinky Winky as gay pride symbol might take this as evidence.) The toy was recalled and it was revealed to have said "fidit, fidit," inspired by the Cantonese for "faster, faster."[4]

I remember as this was happening when my twins were "enjoying" Teletubbies which cracked me up. I think I liked it better than they did actually. Gotta love the Brits and their somewhat "quirky" sense of humor.

Anyway, I was even more amused by the fact that adults were "analyzing" and condemning the tubbies on religious grounds...really? I like imagining the person in the story below and what goes on in his or her bizarre little mind.

In addition, at about the time the Falwell newsletter article came out, a staff member of CTTC stopped by a local secular bookstore to examine their Teletubby items. He stumbled across a small picture book showing the two female Teletubbies (Laa-Laa and Po) trying on a ballet dress and dancing. The story went on to show Dipsy (the other male Teletubby besides Tinky Winky) refusing to try on the dress. Tinky Winky, on the other hand, eagerly put on the dress and happily danced around to the delight of the two female Teletubbies Laa-Laa and Po.

No, here is what I was referring to - and it was Fallwell (of course!) who "outed" Tinky Winky as a gay indoctrintor lol:

I DO recall the talking Po also - we had all four, as my older kids loved them back then, and we also did a double take over what Po said when you squeezed the belly. I think it actually said "Fi-dit, Fi-dit", or another nonsense word, but yes it did sound very close to a slur. :what:

Married With Children was probably the beginning of the end of being able to watch TV shows with your young children in the same room.

We hadn't ever watched the show and knew nothing about it until Ms. Rakolta began her (local, at first) protest against Married, With Children. Once we tuned in, it became a family favorite. DD was in high school, so the subject matter was more humorous than troublesome for us, and we often discussed the issues that were brought forward in the episodes.

I agree. There are absolutely no television shows on today that I would watch with my children.

Fortunately, my kids seem to enjoy the sitcoms of yesteryear such as "Full House" and "Punky Brewster." My 11 year old begged me to buy Season 1 and 2 of "Little House on the Prairie" and they watch it! Shocking to me that it wasn't even my suggestion. They also enjoy "ALF," The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," and many others. Sam's Club and Cracker Barrel have lots of respectable, older sitcoms on disc, and we make use of them!

ETA: Wasn't Miss Piggy always falling in love with everyone, muppets and humans? She always had goo-goo eyes, and I never remember anyone mentioning bestiality. Maybe because she wasn't a real pig. Is there such thing as "muppetiality?"

The "pig commercial" brouhaha reminded me of this local woman who protested Fox TV's Married, With Children in the late '80s. Some here might recall this, too, but the censorship issue was huge in these parts due to the woman living in Bloomfield Hills, MI and her connection to the Romneys.

Censorship & Scandals

Married...with Children - During the 1988-89 season of the irreverent sitcom MARRIED...WITH CHILDREN/FOX/1987-97 a letter writing campaign, led by a housewife named Terry Rakolta from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, encouraged viewers and advertisers to boycott the show...

http://www.tvacres.com/censorship_married.htm

Married With Children was Fox's first prime time show. It made Fox what it is today. It never got a series finale despite running for 10 seasons. Ratings went up that time, but quickly went down over time.

Married With Children compared to today's television show is better.

The "Big 4" networks aren't looking for the young children demographic. They want 18-49. Nickelodeon and Disney are for the kids. However, I doubt kids would even get the sexual references on the network shows. Do kids even find shows like Big Bang Theory or Modern Family funny?

I remember Wayne's World being my favorite movie when I was about eight. I thought it was hilarious - I also didn't get 90% of it. When I rewatched the movie in college, I was surprised how many sexual and drug references there were that I didn't even pick up on.

Even shows like Sesame Street or the Muppets back in the day would have little adult side references that would go over kids' heads.

Have the Million Moms ever objected to these Disney classics?

Because all their children who have ever seen Snowwhite developed a desire to make out with dead people, they are sure to start acting promiscuous with all the talking, driv ing pigs they meet.

Thanks for the giggle.
"Why did you stop me officer? Because I'm a pig driving

a convertible."
"no, your headlight is out."
:floorlaugh: i love these commericals.
Hows about the duck we're supposed to send get well cards to because he broke his mandible and hurt his wing??
-----they are not real------:great:

(I'll just go on record as saying that I have found some very creepy things in Disney's movies...intentional as well as inferred.

Isn't it possible the commercial is just a play on the old adage that "men are pigs"?

Making it literal seems more than a little silly to me.

Where is the outrage over the Smurfs? That entire village and only one woman? And the men were all blue? And then suddenly kids and babies arrived?

Clearly, Smurfette was a smurf of easy morals and should be boycotted. Oh, and Vanity Smurf was TOTALLY gay.

*rolls eyes*

Can someone please teach the Million Moms to knit... or do Jell-O shots? Either will make them less annoying.

Yes, those images are filled with depictions of sexual assault. Making out with frogs and molesting apparently unconcious girls?? What kind of subconcious message is being instilled in our children? Those movies should be banned immediately!!
