Mother arrested after abandoning her 3 children in an apartment for 4 years, Pontiac MI

That place had to smell like death warmed over. I can't believe non of the neighbors notice the stench and complained.

Seems to me that the City of Pontiac dropped the ball.

There were many inspections done due to a "Blight" violation back in April of 2020, but it doesn't look like anything was done about it.

The last re-inspection was done in 4/2022 Then it seems the city just quit.

And what really gets me, there was an inspection on 4/1/2022 . Is that not within the time when the older boy say's their mother abandon them????? So who let the city inspectors in?????

He told authorities that one time he left the home to “touch the grass” and then he left another time to check the mail.

He left the home to touch the grass. That has to be the saddest thing I have ever heard. He gathered up his courage and left the house to touch the grass :(

I'm not crying, you are.

inspector probably lied and was never given access to the house. That is my guess.

Are we safe to assume that the "mom" was paying the utility bills, keeping the lights and heat on?
In one of the videos (which I'm not going to find because it grosses me out too much) it said there weren't working toilets. Does that mean the toilets were broken or there wasn't water? I don't know but I'm sure we'll find out.
Those poor kids. :(

they are very close to starting, off camera voice explains there was some paperwork to be completed and they will be announcing the charges shortly

Now that I think about it, the kids would not have been able to live for months without water. So either they had running water or she had bought them a lot of bottled water.

I think we need to stop normalizing having kids you can't afford or take care of. It's not wonderful or a miracle.
A lot of these babies are "babies for benefits".

Were the children able to open the door to retrieve the instacart food? If so, I find it very surprising no child left to go find help at some point, as we have seen in other cases. I wonder if they had early encounters with neighbors that were shrugged off.
This all started in 2020/2021 - not sure how severe the stay at home orders ? Covid restrictions were in that State, but mom may have used that as a tool to keep the kids under lock. "If you go outside, you will be arrested" or "If you go outside and see people, you will get Covid and die" or something along those lines. IMOO

My guess would be, the landlord informed "mother" there'd an inspection and she made sure she was there. I'd also guess, the interior didn't look as horrifying then, as it did last week.
