Curtis Havard

(Younger photo of Havard)
Case Classification: Endangered Missing
Missing Since: March 10, 1970
Location Last Seen: Escatawpa, Jackson County, Mississippi
Curtis Havard, 21, and his friend, Bobbie Joe Sims, 30, both of Escatawpa, Mississippi were last seen alive on March 10, 1970. They were seen three days before Havard was scheduled to testify against two young people from Escatawpa accused of theft and assault. A fight had resulted in a teenager being stabbed, according to previous reports.
Sims was later found floating face down in Biloxi Bay on March 19, 1970, and had been in the water for several days, according to the coroner's report. His 1963 blue Ford Fairlane was discovered in Lyons Lake, just off Nutbank Road in Helena, Mississippi seven years later. Havard has never been seen again.
In 1970, investigators suspected that Havard was slain after a confrontation on March 10, 1970, near an Escatawpa store where witnesses reported three gunshots. His body never turned up, however, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
