He has several convictions for cocaine possession and burglary as well (www.seachquarry.com) in MS. (it won't show up if you just select the state but if you select "Nationwide" the MS convictions come up). I fear for this young woman.

Demarcus McGruder, 32, was arrested and charged with kidnapping on Dec. 4, 2018.

“Currently, the subject is charged with kidnapping, he is still incarcerated in the Forrest County Jail. He was denied a bond based on the fact of being a flight risk," McLemore said.

As days pass, McLemore said investigators continue to be in close contact with the Carter family updating them frequently on what’s happening.

“When it turned into a criminal investigation, there are certain things we have to keep within for successful criminal prosecution of that individual,” McLemore said.

Hattiesburg police release more details on Falisa Carter death investigation

April 25, 2019 at 1:54 PM CDT - Updated April 26 at 5:54 AM

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Hattiesburg Police Department released more details Thursday surrounding the Falisa Carter death investigation.

Captain Branden McLemore said, based on their timeline, they believe Carter died around the time of her disappearance back in November.

Carter, 25, went missing Nov. 25, 2018. Her remains were found in a wooded area of Forrest County on April 4. McLemore said the final autopsy report has not concluded, so the cause of death has not been determined.

Demarcus McGruder, 32, was charged with capital murder in connection to her death.

McLemore said the two were in a relationship at the time of her death, but there’s no confirmation as to what actually led to her death.

“With a domestic relationship, anything is possible,” said McLemore.

McGruder remains in the Forrest County Jail without bond and will go before the Hattiesburg Municipal Court judge via teleconference for the charge April 26 at 1:30 p.m.

“McGruder has not spoke of anything,” said McLemore. “Anything about what his case in point is.”

A second suspect, 29-year-old Timothy Evans, was arrested in late December and charged with hindering prosecution. Evans was arrested a second time on March 1 and charged with accessory after the fact to kidnapping.

However, McLemore said they hope to have more suspects as the case goes to court.

“As the case goes to grand jury, there are other pending charges that hopefully we can get indictments for other people that participated,” said McLemore.
