Meridian police have charged a Meridian woman with capital murder and two counts of child neglect following the discovery of the body of a child at a city residence.

She was originally charged with Contributing to the delinquency or neglect of a child. Guess she talked/led LE to the body right after that?

UPDATE: Coroner Clayton Cobler confirms a small body has been located inside of a trash bag at the home on Crabapple Drive. He says the bag was located in the corner of a home, not buried, with items like insulation covering it. Cobler says the remains will be sent to Jackson for further analysis.

Meridian Police Chief Benny Dubose said the Friday autopsy found a badly decomposed body with a broken rib on one side and cracked ribs on the other, The Meridian Star reported. Dubose said the autopsy also found burns.

Police have charged Celeste Louise Smith, 35,of Meridian with capital murder and child neglect. She led police to the body Wednesday after another woman reported her 5-year-old son, Jakie Toole, had been missing since April. Police said Smith once took care of the boy and his siblings.

Dubose said officials are awaiting results of a DNA test to confirm the body's identity.

Smith is jailed without bail and waived a preliminary hearing Monday.

What is absolutely appalling and disgusting to me, is that there were many people in Celeste and Jakie's life during that time period, that knew that poor darling boy existed, yet no one had a conscious and reported him missing, at the very least? Not one person had a heart or any feeling, or anger or disgust or worry about him, to find out what happened to him? She shouldn't be the only one charged, in my opinion. I don't believe that she was the only one that knew all of this time that he was either missing or that something bad happened to him.

Oh this angers me so damn much! So the mother knew that her child was missing right away in April- the mother herself didn't disappear for a few months and then come home to him being missing. She's had her other child all along. I have a long string of curse words I want to say right now.

I wonder why she even bothered to report him missing! Unless people close to her were hounding her about where Jakie was, or maybe the father wanted to know? Just speculation, but I feel like if she hadn't been pressured into trying to answer what happened to Jakie, she would never have reported him missing.

She and Smith are horrific!!!
This precious child was probably unloved all his life. Wonder if the minor is Jakie or another child in danger for her current charge.
I mean April to Sept with out involving LE. I smell toxic drugs JMO
