The major media outlets are covering this story. On the Internet, you will have to scroll down on cnn, nbcnews, foxnews, etc. where the reports still continue that her phone records hold the evidence. That has been going on a couple of days now. The initial report from the PD said arson. That story continues nationally with no evidence. Keep in mind the outrageous nature of the original reports last week, where she walks up in full flames to the fire fighter and gives the name of her killer, after having lighter fluid intentionally squirted down her mouth and nose and being set on fire. I am wary of the speculation and just wish more evidence was forthcoming.

Hi "Loveamystery". I can't seem to quote and snip on my new phone, but I wanted to address several of your comments about protection from "domestic" abuse, having worked in that field.

Jessica's father couldn't possibly protect her every second of every day and night. Neither could her mother. I'm not sure how being a mechanic for the sheriff's department would change that fact.

It is true that the source of Jessica's endangerment could have been someone besides her ex bf. I wish we had more info on her assault charges. It might lend some insight into her relationship dynamics. By and large, odds of a brother doing deadly harm are much smaller than a violent ex bf, his crew, his other girls, or people involved in serious drug moving. But any of these are possible.

It could also be possible that neither of her parents was willing to subject themselves and/or other innocent family members to potential harm from Jessica's associations. Not saying this IS true, just that it is a possibility. We saw this often with those seeking the safety of shelters. This could be particularly true if one or both parents disapproved of her endangering relationships and couldn't reach her. Too many tragic news stories of whole-family murders has made more people aware of those possibilities.

Something else to keep on the back burner is that we do not know whether JC was cooperating with an agency to gather info on some kind of criminal activity. This could be a number of different things. It could also put her at risk from people within the system as well as outside.

It will be interesting to see what shakes out in JC's case if we ever do get the whole story. There are many reasons why we might never know it all.

Bless JC and all those who truly loved her.

I would like to express my thoughts on the cut or "gash" on her head.
Having held several jobs in the automotive industry over the years, I can tell you that there are quite a lot of sharp areas in a vehicle to cut yourself on or that could cause this type of injury.
The term in a "pinch weld". It's where 2 pieces of flat metal come together and are spot welded to form a single edge. The 2 most common areas that could easily cause this type of injury that come to mind are
the "windshield" pinchweld which is what most cars windshield rests on. And the "door jam" pinchweld. This is the area just above your left shoulder that extends down the "A" pillar that the door closes up against.
You can pull back a bit of headliner where the glass meets roof and see this pinchweld. The door jam weld is protected with a piece of rubber with a metal insert meant to keep it attached.
Both of these areas are super sharp when exposed.
It's very possible that she could have been knocked out while still inside the vehicle and then afterwards injurying her head while trying to exit the vehicle AFTER the rubber had already burned off the door jam pinchweld.

Just a thought.

Was that rumor or was it in MSM? Possible I missed because I'm old and cranky. What if...there was no party but Jessica thought there was and lured there under a ruse. She knew the person or persons who invited her. Stop over for a couple of minutes ya ya ya whatever and say hi.

It also crossed my mind that she had been a target for a while and when she informed someone she wasn't going right home, it became an opportunity to harm her. The phone call she received at the gas station then going back inside for cigs gives a window for someone to make a phone call to set it up. Especially if she said she was going to the car wash (maybe the "somewhere" was the car wash only the clerk/manager declined to mention that was the somewhere). IMO the gas station is the cesspool that set the chain of events in motion. My speculation and opinion only.

I'm relieved that there are other sets of eyes on this than local LE.

I'm just horrified and so disgusted I should back away from the keyboard before I get "benched".

http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/11/us/mississippi-girl-burns-to-death/

Police are searching her data and text records after obtaining warrants Wednesday that compelled Google and her cell phone provider to give police access to her phone's content, Champion said. Investigators believe her phone will be "the key to everything," the prosecutor said. She received a call before she left her house, he said.

Heres something Ive never thought about before. IT sounds like not only cell provider but also google were subpoenaed . So Im wondering if you have a android there is info stored with google as well as other info from cell provider? If so I suppose the same thing would be the case with other phones .

For one, where the phone has been and google conveniently shows it on a map.

That's good to know. Thank you for the useful information. Curious if you have any thoughts about the condition in which of the car was found, the manner in which it went up the embankment, the crime scene and the area of the burn? Would love to get your take on it, if it suits you. TIA

If the passenger side door was left wide open, that would strongly suggest someone was on that side of the car - it could be as simple as that.

Good point. Wonder if there are any photographs on record BEFORE the car was touched or moved in any way at the scene.

Re: Jessica's head injury - whether she injured herself on part of the car trying to get out or whether an injury was inflicted BEFORE the burns, would that be discernable in an autopsy?? I'm sure there are signs that are typical of an accidental injury (falling or bumping oneself) vs one that is inflicted by another party or a weapon. But I'm eager to know if it can be determined when relative to the thermal injuries. I feel like it's possible but wondering if someone with more medical knowledge could chime in on this...?

As for the gas station + that evening's events - what if we look back a bit further... Jessica was home all day, sleeping most of the day? Was she hiding? I mean, I had lazy days as a teenager (and still do, hah) but rare were the days I truly slept ALL day unless I was feeling ill. I bet she used her phone more at home than truly sleeping the day away...

Name? I've been searching back and must keep missing it.

Thanks.

Not so much of the crime scene itself but what's going on after. Particularly...the silence.
The only reason I can figure that no one has talked just yet is the reward money isn't large enough. Or that whomever does know something and want's that reward money knows they will eventually be found out.
And lastly, the silence could be that in reality...no one really doesn't know anything. That nothing criminal has happened.
Could it be that this was some sort of freak accident and that no one knows anything because no one else was involved?

Not what I believe but it could be possible.

Question: does anyone know where the bottle in picture with windshield wiper in grass came from? Did JC purchase it? hypo if bottle is JC's then she may have been purchasing things for someone else, like one of her acquaintance's called her/texted her claiming s/he needed gas and drink. Something about the pictures seems like someone was trying to stage either accident/or/suicide, mind you jmo and only going from pics of car afterwards, site of accident, and bottle in grass. i.e. JC driving alone with drinking bottle (if alcohol) and gets rear-ended car explodes or purposely drives into tree.

OR maybe JC was riding in the passengers seat and when she escaped the burning vehicle she didn't shut it? Just popped into my head.. JMO

I'm not sure I believe she was going to clean out the car. Seems odd that one would go after the sun had gone down (and presumably it had gotten cooler) instead of going in the daylight. If she was going to a party or to meet someone, she might not have wanted parents to know - she might have had other clothes on under the pj pants (or had clothes in her car she planned to change into) - alternately, if the party was actually a teen kegger in the woods somewhere, then maybe she wouldn't have dressed up for it, anyhow.
The very first statement made ny her father and her i believe grandmother or maybe her the mother i forget which but the first statement by her father for sure was that she told them she was going out to clean her car vacume and fill it up with gas she wasn;t doing anything that night she was having a home night watching tv and when she left she was in her pajamas ....thats a fact that her father said in the very first statement he made to huff - post on that sunday...
