My guess is that the majority stick around, especially if it's someone who knew the victim and would be missed. Also, just think about the statistics of killers who return to the scene of the crime or insert themselves into the investigation.

Having said that, I do find the comments made by LF, who says she went fishing the night JC died, to be interesting. She either doesn't have a filter or she was nervous and just couldn't stop talking. And I personally think it's strange that she went to the scene and gave an interview. She acted like she knew JC well but also said that she was really friends with JC's older sister. Then she talks about JC's visits to the Sonic and that she called her "my Sonic baby". Then she makes fun of JC always messing with her eyelashes. I don't know. It is probably nothing but I think she gave way too much detail about how she found out JC had been killed. Then she goes with her sister and their kids to the scene and gives an interview including the information that she had driven past that area the night before. It just makes me wonder what her intentions were.

Placing oneself at the scene of a crime does have a way of capturing my attention.

it is good to remember that of all the surveillance camera footage floating around out there, ALL of them seem to have approximately one minute missing from the footage. The footage jumps... gas can man is not there, then he magically appears. That one minute could be dramatically useful... Who knows what is contained in that footage? not me...

Did Fowler live on Herron Rd.? If so, I can understand her comments as any fisherman knows Crappie bite best in low light conditions. If not, there is zero reason to take Hurron Rd. to Lake Enid---NONE!

I just had another thought about the fishing trip story. I'd guess 9 of 10 anglers use minnows as their bait for night time crappie fishing. The other option would be plastic spinners which aren't nearly as effective during the night bite. I'm left wondering what she was going to use as bait and where she would have purchased said bait?

ADMIN NOTE:
Let's stay focused, please, and stick with the more plausible theories and supporting MSM links.

Thanks.

Any employee who is dumb enough to risk their job smuggling contraband INTO a jail is likely destined to become a resident themselves. Just sayin.....
I've worked at jails also, and as Sloane said, they get contraband. That's pretty well known. On risking becoming inmates themselves, if there is a lot of contraband and it's brandished about quite openly (as in the pics from Panola jail), then the risk is pretty low. Most employees who help smuggle contraband in or simply look the other way are VERY low paid and extra cash is welcome. Depending on the dynamics, some do it to "stay safe". They and their families are easy to find on the outside. I was at one jail where the sheriff himself was commonly known to be involved in the drug trade and prisoner trustees had jobs that gave them access to jail employees home addresses, telephone numbers, children, etc., even though state law forbade this. I know all too well; I had to quit my job and move out of state overnight when a violent sex offender got my phone number and called me at home. Oh yeah, and he was about to get a weekend furlough.
Things go on in jails you wouldn't believe. Contraband is just a minor one and it is endemic.

I do not believe Jessica's father, a mechanic, was sneaking contraband into the Panola jail. I do not believe Jessica was secretly meeting with a drug task force as an informant because I haven't seen anything to support either theory. This case resembles a couple of past homicides to me and those didn't involve drugs or gangs.

And was she going fishing alone at night(or evening) and if she has children, as it seems, were they with her or who was babysitting? JMO *She is holding a child in the video interview.

I don't fish, even though I grew up on a lake. And I know ice fishing is popular also. But, it appeared cold that night, do people really fish in the cold at night? Seems odd to me, and sounds made up, but then I'm no expert on fishing. I realize people fish for a hobby, and I'm sure many people cook up the fish, but fishing at night, to cook up, is the family very poor where they needed the food, or does she make a habit of fishing at night, or is this a way to get away from the family for a few hours? I've noticed people in the South, when it gets like 55 degrees they are complaining of the cold, and I can't believe it, that is comfortable for a person that is use to WI winters. That is why I'm questioning fishing at night, a night that is not warm.

Now you cats are getting my head spinning. What if that KIA was a stealth mule, unbeknownst to Jessica. What if there were a compartment inside the fuel tank and somebody told Jessica to never put in more than $5 worth of fuel. What if someone was actually after something inside that car (other than Jessica). What if the KIA was a mule that missed a rendezvous, and someone went to looking for it. Maybe the "mule KIA" was supposed to be at such and such a place, at such and such a time, regularly. But on that day it wasn't. Obviously I am just surmising based on the latest round of posts. But if I were criminally minded, and wanted a stealth mode of transporting contraband, or pay-off for contraband, I might devise an unwitting carrier.

The video that accompanies the story shows the children in hats/hoodies and they look chilled but perhaps it is the wind. To me, going fishing at night would be a little dangerous in that area because it is so rural and secluded. The thought that Jessica was ambushed on a paved road still sickens me.

iirc, Jessica put in $14 in gas the night of her murder.

This is the only post (it is from thread #4) where I see a time mentioned in reference to the time of Jessica's friend going fishing:

I also think with getting ready for the holidays and other familial obligations that we all have (e.g., birthday parties), one probably would go fishing around 4:20 p.m. to Enid Lake. All lakes in bayou interesting.

Good point, and it makes me wonder when she was in the women's shelter, if they had a program that helps victims report crimes / work with drug task force, etc. Would the shelter have helped her in this way?

any good shelter would not encourage this without also sending JC underground with a new identity. she would never be able to contact family or friends again. I think JC as informant, or accidental informant is very likely, but prob not with shelter involvement. If so, they were very irresponsible.

MyBelle

Yup. Maybe she wasn't supposed to?

I don't where that time is from because I haven't seen it mentioned in any news articles. If the time for the fishing trip was 4:20 p.m., Jessica's car wasn't there at 4:20.

I don't know that she has said. I also don't know why she would take that route to go fishing or if she gave those details to the press. All I know is that she says she drove past there on Saturday, the day of the crime.

she said she drove right by and didn't see anything, as if she knows she went by while JC's car was there. not sure if she knows exactly what time JC was there or for how long, and exactly what time she drove by to know for sure she went by while JC was there. I don't think she would have been surprised that she didn't see anything if she knew she hadn't gone by right when JC was there. prob just trying to insinuate herself into the case not realizing it makes her look suspect.

It has been said that truth is stranger than fiction. After seeing some of these latest theories, I would beg to differ. I feel like we have stumbled into a creative writing class, and am not sure that it benefits Jessica in any way. JMO

is 4:20 the actual time or a euphemism?
