The Panolian lists two assault arrests for Jessica. One was in the August 23, 2013, paper; the another was in the June 10, 2014 issue. To date, to the best of my knowledge there was no further record of either case: no finding, no conviction, nothing. This seems a little odd.
I would think though that there must be some disposition of either case in the public record. Records are sealed only if a person involved is a juvenile. In August 23, 2013, Jessica Chambers was 18.
Since Jessica was charged with the assaults, we can assume that her father's statement (ie. "she was a fighter") is a fair assessment of why she was charged: She was fighting physically with someone -- enough so that the police were involved.
Since both charges involved arrests, I believe that it would be a fair assumption to make that the other party was not related to Jessica. Usually in the case of a domestic dispute, the police charge both parties, or merely warn them, or family members resolve their issues without following through with a court proceeding.
I suppose continued, physical, bad blood between two people could lead to murder. Thus, I would assume that LE has pursued her two assault cases. However it seems a great stretch to lump the two together in a long, drawn out, personal grudge, or vendetta, and then follow through with that animosity six months later into murder.
It would be beneficial to know much more about these cases.
Here is a slight update based upon the period August 16, 2013 to August 23, 2013
reference
A week before Jessica was arrested there was a public tax notice of the taking of Ben A. Chambers property along Hwy 51 (see August 16, ppg. 21-22). The following Friday night (August 23, pg 1) there was a fatal shooting of a
North Panola High School student, followed later that night by another shooting at a local, Sardis club; both shootings were believed to be gang related. The same night Jessica was arrested for simple assault. The date of the tax taking was scheduled for the end of the month.
I mention these three events only because they may have had an indirect influence upon Jessica's mindset. Leading up to this period of time, I have seen Jessica's name in Panolian only associated with cheerleading activities from 2010 until August 23rd's arrest... Until the 23rd, nothing seemed out-of-the-ordinary. As a matter of fact, in 2009 she won an second-place award for art; and as a 12 yr old, she was involved in sports.
The fact that Ben A. Chambers was about to loose his property may have been a catalyst for high emotions; Jessica may have been without a home.
The fact that her rival high school, North Panolia, was the scene of a fatal high school shooting also must have been foremost in everyone's mind.
Lastly, leading up to the August 23 arrest, Jessica had lost her brother Ben A. Chambers, Jr. on May 11, 2011, and her father and DM had divorced. In addition, her father's criminal background began in 2003 when Jessica was 8 years old.
None of the above explains anything specific about the August 23 arrest though.
I've searched the Panolian "Arrest logs", "Justice Court logs", and "Sheriff's logs" but there does not yet appear to be any disposition for the August 23 arrest.
Maybe someone else who like to have a go at finding something specific while I abandon WS for the night.....:shame:
