According to Therese very early on he was a 'suspect'(legally they did not take the step to id him as a suspect) But,they got two other leads that took them to Idaho and Chattanooga. They kind of moved Tellis from the top down their list. They were so sure they were close to an arrest from other tips they had. But,they did not pan out. OK here is where it gets sketchy for me. So I am going to tip-toe around my response.
Here's where I am vauge:
From what I gathered LE must have know Tellis had some association to a gang. BUT,the gang members told & convinced LE there was nothing generated by the gang to kill Jessica. This is just background I only remember this tidbit from Therese from her many answers. Again she skipped around so some parts are not sequential and you kind of have to figure where they might fit in to the narrative.
Again I am vague on the next part:
It sounds like Tellis was not back on LE radar until LA and the tie in with the Chinese Exchange Students death. It is not clear 'what' the tie was to Tellis in LA. Interesting LA does routinely take blood samples. Therese was not sure if MS does. Also, she knew LE were building a DNA base but did not know if there was DNA at Jessica's crimescene.
Also, where of how Tellis got the gas to Herror Road crimescene is not going to be released until trial. OR,whether or not there was a siphon used to get gas-nothing until trial.
